Hi Gilligan Thanks for your input. I think you're right about "typical behaviour". The AUTO mode gets me pretty close and I find that often, if I de-select/re-select in the weapons window, the maverick will lock on eventually. Cheers
-
I just had a thought after my last post. In my training mission, my targets are quite close together. As the maverick locks on by contrast, perhaps I'm being a little unrealistic to expect it to lock onto the exact target according to the TGP. Even in AUTO I assume the maverick will still lock onto the highest contrast target in that particular area.

Hi Gilligan I have followed the boresight procedure to the letter when carrying out the procedure on the ground and I also carry out the boresight again when I lock onto a target. When I watch YouTube videos of maverick tutorials they always seem to be bang on. I'll take more notice of distance to target in the future and see if that makes any difference. I'm not saying the difference between the maverick and TGP are miles out, but enough to be annoying. I also find that undesignating the target in the weapons MFD and re-locking sometimes forces it to look to the correct target. Anyway, thanks for your input. BTW ... I saved a track of my complete mission but when it got to the boresight part the track went weird and it looked like I was boresighting 25 yards away from the target! I hadn't of course and I'd aligned both the TGP and the maverick perfectly. I've added the track if anyone want to take a look. Be warned, it's quite long F-16C Boresight.trk

Hi alistairm What do you mean "I wasn't pressing cursor zero after"? Do you mean you weren't pressing TMS-down after you had carried out the boresight and before changing wing stations? I've been through my training mission dozens of times and the mavericks do not boresight.

I have a two ship AI flight of F-16's that come in to land while I am starting my plane. I can allocate the parking spot for one of the F-16's via the Landing option but how do I allocate parking for his wingman? He goes and parks in a totally different part of the airfield! Thanks

Hi RyanR When I select the first target in the TGP, I find the Maverick is off slightly, not by a huge mount but enough. I correct the Maverick and re-boresight. You'd think that would do it, but I have to do it again on the next target. If I'm lucky. that will do it, but not always, especially if I've been manouvering. If I select the first target, make any necessary corrections and then use active pause. all the other targets behave! I use narrow FOV almost exclusively due to being as blind as a bat! I'm that guy who has to turn on labels just to find a target! This is my practice mission. F-16C Boresight.miz BTW ... I might just be imagining it but I think the mavericks align better if I have the laser turned on.

When I cold start, I always align my HMD. I have set up a vehicle about three miles from the end of the runway so I can boresight my Mavericks prior to takeoff. I use the latest procedure for boresighting. When I reach the target area the maverick is pointing in the vicinity of the target according to the TGP, but it is never actually on the target. I align the maverick manually and press the alignment button again. I fire, hit the target , CABOOMBIE and all that. Select the next target and the Maverick is off again according to the TGP. When using the D type I have the TGP set to AUTO and the Maverick set to PRE. When using the H type I have the TGP set to MAN and the Maverick set to PRE. I understand that the Maverick has to be in range for the AUTO handoff to work on the D type andAUTO handoff does not work on the H type. I'm convinced that the alignment process does not workcorrectly when cold starting. I am using the old targeting pod and D type mavericks. Regards

I've got mine set to 35% for the Y axis saturation for both the X axis RDR cursor and the Y axis RDR cursor. Also, make sure th eTGP is set as SOI. I you have the HUD set as SOI, for example, the crsor will move much fast in the TGP. If anyone else would like to share their settings, I'm always looking to improve mine.

Thanks razo+r, I suspected as much.

I know this is an ancient thread, but just an update on this ... I fly a mix of both US and Russian aircraft. I have my default units set to Metric, only because I started flying in DCS in the Su-25T and Su-27 and I've never changed it. I've been flying the F-16 recently and unless I am flying at 20,000 metres I assume that the aircraft automatically defaults to feet. Is that a correct assumption? So has something changed in recent years? The only time I really notice it is in the Mission Editor where everything is in metric, but I can do a fairly accurate conversion in my head.

Hi Guys Perhaps you can help me with this one, or at least point me in the right direction. I have a mission and I am taking out a convoy with a Ka-50 III. When the convoy is activated (late activation) a handful of infantry embark to a vehicle as part of the convoy, although, the troop carrier is it's own group just following the same waypoints as the convoy. When I take out the lead vehicle, a trigger is activated and the infantry should disembark and do their thing in making my life difficult in the Ka-50. However, when I take out the lead vehicle, the troop carrier reverts back to the original start position and then disembarks the infantry. Is there a way to get the troops to disembark at the current location, i.e. at the position where the convoy came under atack? I've seen other missions where troops disembark from ground vehicle when the vehicles come under fire. Thanks guys

By the way .... There is no sound coming out of the R-828, i.e. I can't check my sound file, and the R-828 automatically retunes without having to press the tune button, if I change the channel. I checked for sound on all radio tune options including VHF and R-828. It's all very well and good releasing module after module, and we all buy the latest module in support of ED, but how about supporting us and fixing these issues! Put down your tools, stop working on the Mig-29 module (that we have already paid for incidentally) and fix my R-828 radio!

The TUNER light on the R-828 still isn't working following the latest update (DCS 2.9.18.12722). Surely it isn't too much to ask to have the tuner ligh twork correctly? In the attached mission there is a ground unit tuned into channel 4. You can press the tuner button (S-828 ASU) until the cows come home but the tuner light does not work! Mi-24P R-828.miz

Hi GasMan3874. I'll keep testing but it's very annoying. I am unable to play in my multiplayer missions with my son who lives a few miles away.I created an absolutely basic mission, a Su-25T, no mods, on the Caucuses map. It's just the absolute bare bones and I still can't get it to work on a multiplayer server, either directly in DCS or using the server tools.

Nav Error and no route follow in ABRIS - Afghanistan map

In the GAMEPLAY settings, there is an option ... "Unrestricted SATNAV". Well, who knew! It allows SATNAV for all coalitions as #Weta43 alluded to.
