I am currently on a week leave so trying to get as much done as possible. Next is to fix the 3d printer, as it just stop printing tomcat panels. Don't worry I have been stalking this forum for over 12 months, and only just pull the trigger.

The pit is up at the right level now with the platforms both done. Support beams are in, and I have worked out the old man entry"" into the pit. On the 4 rib (from the rear) I will have a extended hinge so that the rear section open like a door for entry. Using an old tv wall mount as the hinge.. Tomorrow is measuring the sides into their correct spot and then fixing them to the bottom platforms.

pretty much 3 sheets of 2400x1200 and 1 sheet of 1200 x 1200. Yeah I was cutting out by jigsaw but decided to go the CNC route. I had some files in dxf format as that is what the local CNC shop needed But others will take the svg files no problems. It was cheaper than printing out a hornet build . Not too expensive. ** I think if you use Mumbles svg files it might be a bit smaller.. I think my pit is a bit wide on the sides by a couple of cms

Update. Both sides have been assembled.. And jeez this thing is big, I keep going back to the 3d model and taking measurements in case there was a mistake.. . Cause I am using a next level gaming seat I have to raise the sides up by approx 95mm (can use the adjustable feet to help). So I am building shaped platforms either side (that's tomorrow's job, along with other things). Also trying to work out how I will get in and out of the pit, as I currently have a banged up knee. Options are to hinge the left side just past the throttle, or remove the last rib and try and slide into the seat from there (seat is currently in it's most backwards position). I am thinking I will make a hinge for easy access. Happy to take thoughts on this.

Flat-pack Tomcat has arrived. Some assembly is required I thought I had made a mistake with the measurements as it is large when flat, but some online measurements of Mumbles sketchup files and I am breathing easier. Let the fun begin.

How do you the tv? Do you use track ir or anything on it? I found a pretty cheap 50" tv that will do 1440p at 120hz or 4K at 60hz. Unsure how it will go with track ir.

Thanks @RustBelt, there is a limit to funds. So no wrap around screens just yet. The man cave needs a new tv, so I am going to trial a 50", and if it's works well enough then I will get two more.. if not I have a new tv ... then I will just get some gaming monitors. But first the tomcat needs to be cut out by the local cnc shop.

Even though my tomcat is still awaiting being turned into a IKEA flat pack, I am already thinking about the screens I will use as the main displays. I know that a lot of people are going the VR route, but I already have VR and due to my tropical climate and sinus issues it’s not the best the solution. I am keen to hear what others are going to use as their main display?

Afternoon All. Anybody converted the svg CNC files to dxf or dwg? I somewhere got a copy ages ago of old files, but looking to convert AusMumbles svg files. Not having much luck at the moment.

@BULLITT83 Silly question, but in your photos you have a plan to mark out the spacing of the ribs.. Where did you find that, or did you create that yourself?
-
@AusMumbles very good question. Right now I am working with a mate to do finalise the conversion and compiling. I converted the svg files to dxf and he is going to run them through 'çypcut' software to tidy up files. But he isn't local, so I will take those files to another mate with a CNC machine. I am a complete novice regarding CNC, so anything could happen. Thanks

Thanks Bullitt83, I am going to try and get it cut via CNC but unsure what I need to do to the files to make that happen. Wish me luck.

Hey mate, did you use a CNC for the cutting? Or all manual?

Okay tag me in (be gentle I'm new), been watching for a while now and I am seriously jumping on the tomcat train...err jet.. Plan is to follow Mumbles lead and build a VR pit around my Next level racing flight seat. Christmas may get in the way of that planning, but it has begun..
