When using CBU-97 and a burst height of say 900 feet, I notice that when the bombs release their bomblets, they are doing so short of the target. My understanding of this is that the bombs are released based on the impact point of the bomb intact, not once it has released the munitions. I get around this by designating a target point past the actual target, but this seems rather unscientific to me - am I doing something wrong or is this by design? Surely the munitions release point should be at 900 (or whatever burst height has been selected) feet directly above the target?
I hope I'm expaining myself correctly here...
