    F15E Air to air gunsight

    Thanks
  2. Is it just me or is the radar assisted gunsight really inaccurate in air to air combat?
  3. Thanks - I bought a 2nd hand RTX 3090 - that solved the problem!
  4. Is there a good guide to how to install Virtual Desktop with VDXR? I too have tried everything to address the horrible VR performance but none of it has worked... Quest 2...

    CBU-97 burst height

Thank you! Your graphic describes the issue exactly.

    CBU-97 burst height

When using CBU-97 and a burst height of say 900 feet, I notice that when the bombs release their bomblets, they are doing so short of the target. My understanding of this is that the bombs are released based on the impact point of the bomb intact, not once it has released the munitions. I get around this by designating a target point past the actual target, but this seems rather unscientific to me - am I doing something wrong or is this by design? Surely the munitions release point should be at 900 (or whatever burst height has been selected) feet directly above the target? I hope I'm expaining myself correctly here...
  7. How do you install Virtual Desktop VR? Surely the Quest 2 requires the oculus app to run?
  8. Is there an option to enter a VOR frequency in the F-15E?
  9. This helped a lot thanks - turns out my airspeed was too low. Also using the second bottle worked.
  10. I have been reading throught the manual and I can't find any in flight engine restart procedure. I was experimenting with negative G manuevers and this tends to stop both engines and I have tried restarting them with the JFS starter but this doesn't seem to work. Any ideas on this?
  11. Yep - the manual says MSL so clearly a typo - thanks for clarifying this.
  12. I would think that using a radar altimeter would be able to measure AGL, but the manual specifically mentions MSL so it must be a barometric altimeter. That said, I go back to my question then this method of deployment would not work at any point over 3000 ft MSL which doesn't make sense to me. I suppose then you would need to use the "Burst time" option, which seems a little like guesswork as you would need to understand the time based on your altitude etc...
  13. When programming in burst height of the CBU97, the manual says "BURST HEIGHT: determines the altitude (in feet MSL) at which the bomblets will be released" (page 496). I'm not sure that this makes sense to me - the highest value that can be set is "K" or 3000 feet. What if you wanted to drop these on a target at say 4000 ft MSL? Surely this setting should be AGL?
