  1. Did a test with the newer versions of DLSS on Balanced. Looks better with less ghosting, but the distance image is still pretty blurry. Went back to MSAA 4X and was like putting on a pair of glasses compared to the DLSS. Until there's significant improvements for DLSS, I'd stick with MSAA and take the FPS hit.

    Wide FOV Lenses

Anyone know what happened with the Pimax Crystal wide FOV lenses? Thought they'd be available by now but cannot find them on their site for purchase.
  3. I actually hadn't tried with no AA (MSAA/DLAA). Might give that a shot even though I haven't had ghosting issues now. If it adds fps and I cannot tell a graphics difference might as well go with it. Update: Oh yeah, no AA is the way to go! Looks great and is quite a bit smoother.
  4. Got the Pimax Crystal as my first VR headset. Wanted to try and get as close to the experience I have with a 4K OLED monitor and Tobii Eyetracker 5, and it is VERY close after a LOT of research and settings tweaking. (PC Specs in Signature) Hardest thing to get past was the ghosting/blurring of fast moving objects that go past. Took a lot of attempts, but now have fast moving objects visible and NOT ghosting. Using a SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, originally put the earphones over the top of the VR headset. That didn't work so good, lol. Fell off during rapid head movements. Fits really well if the headphones are on FIRST, then put the VR headset over the top of that. Everything stays in place much better! First thing off, after getting the headset and to enable the Pimax eyetracking, needed to ensure that the Tobii Eyetracker apps and services were shut down. End in Task Manager: Tobii Game Hub Tobii Experience App Stop the Service: Tobii Eye Tracker Generic Service USB setup: Use the provided powered USB Hub that comes with the Pimax Crystal. Read that there were people having issues plugging the USB directly into their PCs. I haven't had any issues with using the Pimax USB Hub so far. Ensure you update the firmware before going too far!!! Pimax Device Settings: Yes, with my specs I'm running 90Hz. Gave me the 'smoothest' fast object movement. Used Auto Ipd Adjustment until I got a value that seemed to stabilize, then just set a static one. Dynamic Foveated Rendering setup: Followed this for the most part. Created a 2nd shortcut directly to the bin-mt/dcs.exe with the commands from this video. Have a 2D shortcut when I don't feel like playing VR that goes to the bin\DCS_updater.exe. Companion Apps Settings: DCS World Settings: Made some changes and got up to around 60-90 FPS. Still looks great and cannot tell a major visual difference, just better FPS. Changed this a bit, reduce back to 1.0 from 1.3. 1.3 was giving around 45-55 FPS, going back to 1.0 made it up to 60-90 FPS. Pixel Density is a MAJOR FPS killer. Don't think it's worth increasing. Final Thoughts: Been mostly playing on the 4YA WW2 Overload Multiplayer server and spotting had always been a pain. I'd really recommend going into the DCS Controls for UI Layer and map the VR Zoom Spyglass to a button. Makes life MUCH easier and more enjoyable. Can ID planes and avoid TKs with it. The cockpits and terrain are amazing looking in VR. I do notice the foveated rendering and eyetracking 'ghost box' occasionally, but it's not immersion breaking. VRs depth of field makes up for a bit of the 'blur' you get coming from 2D. At some point would like to see someone make a 'larger' view area so it's not like wearing scuba googles, but for now really impressed with the Pimax Crystal. Did take a lot of tweaking though to get where I wanted it to be though. Tried VR years ago (like 2010s) and wasn't impressed at all. It's come a long way, but still has a ways to go. Having large screen monitors with 3D depth of field and headtracking would still be my ideal, but for now really enjoying the Pimax Crystal.
  5. Got the ordering issues sorted. I guess if they don't have that particular bundle in stock, it'll say shipping options not available. (They should really add that to the error message instead of it saying nothing as to why you cannot ship). Went ahead and got the 'standard' bundle that includes the two VR controllers (which I'll probably never use) and then was able to order. Was only an additional $200 over the Flight Sim only package. Did notice that the DMAS earphones are separate and were out of stock. Read/heard mixed things on those, so not sure I'll get them or not. It easy to use a existing headset over the top of VR headsets? I have a SteelSeries Arctis Pro, so can I stick with that instead of springing for iffy VR headphones?
  6. Of couse, trying to buy a Pimax Crystal off their own site, it cannot do shipping to my address. Sigh. Guess I'll see how good their customer support is now, when they get back to me.
  7. Well the whole point was to try and get as close to a 4K 2D monitors visuals in VR. I have a Tobii Eyetracker 5 with DCS which works awesome right now. Pimax has the eye tracking as well, but for more the performance in the headset, which is why I was leaning heavily to it. Now if they only had 3D OLED monitors that didn't need to wear anything on your head . . . . . . . . maybe by 2030s.
  8. The multiplayer thing is the rub. I love the idea of better immersion, but with 2D it seems I can spot better than the other players in VR. That said, deflection shooting in WW2 in 2D sucks. It's VERY hard to judge how far I need to lead. In a close in dogfight, someone on VR seems to be able to hit on angle shots much better. Hear the other feedback. do it now, we aren't guaranteed tomorrow. Guess I'll bite the bullet. Thanks all!
  9. Been thinking about trying out VR with DCS. Have done a bit of research and watched various reviews and kind of settling on the Pimax Crystal if I made the jump now. That said, anyone feel like there'll be a upcoming better headset towards the latter half of the year? I know the technology is improving rapidly, but I have a 4K 42' OLED monitor at the moment so not really sure if VR would be 'ready' to replace that really yet. So far it sounds like the Pimax would be really close, plus it'd give the depth perception that the 2D doesn't have. Specs in signature, so not really concerned about being able to run VR. Just if the headsets are 'good enough' yet to replace large screen 4k OLED monitors? Thanks for any suggestions ahead of time!
  10. Think I partially fixed what had been bothering me. My issue was I could see the blobs super far out, but in mid to close range it was extremely difficult to make out what they were. Even in the middle of a WW2 furball in multiplayer it was very hard to distinguish between friend and foe. For my setup it came down to MSAA 4X vs DLAA. I'd been playing on DLAA since it was the 'new thing' so thought it would be better. Nope. DLAA was adding some 'ghosting' to planes up close so all I saw was a blur going by, and yes motion blurring was off. Here's a couple of examples of nullwhat passing a Mustang in 4K looked like with DLAA on. It was like it was rendering a partial 2nd plane almost on top of a single plane. Second pic is more of what I'd often see, which was beyond frustrating. null null Moved back to MSAA 4X and the ghosting was gone and things in general seemed a lot clearer. Didn't feel like I needed to put glasses on. Did lose 15-20fps, but as long as it stays over 80 I'm totally fine with that hit if I can see better. And here's a Mustang Merging with MSAA 4X on. Only just the change from DLAA to MSAA 4X. Distance blobs aren't as bad in MSAA but are still blobs. But at least in medium to close I'm not seeing a blurred target now. Hope this helps.
  11. Having a hell of a time spotting on WW2 servers while playing 4K on a 42" 2D screen. What is strange is I can see the distance dot pretty well far out, but at about medium range totally lose visibility. Practically have to stumble in at 5 miles to see planes. So can pick up planes at 20 miles, but once within 10 miles it starts to draw in a tiny little plane and you lose it easily. Feel like 4K has a distinct DIS-advantage over lower resolutions, which feel a bit backwards IMO. I see some videos to drop your screen resolution but that won't happen with a Tobii Eyetracker 5. Have zoom setup and use it, but even when zooming in, at a certain zoom it'll flip from a good sized tracking object to the tiny plane just like if you were closing and not zooming. Not sure what the solution is outside of lowering resolution. I saw some patch notes on this, but doesn't seem to help so far.
  12. I set the Terrain Shadows off and seemed to help me. Still get the building and tree shadows here, so that seems fine.
  13. Hi all, Currently sporting a 5 year old ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q IPS 1440p widescreen. Getting very high FPS with a RTX 4090 so considering making the jump up to 4k. Specifically looking at the ASUS ROG Swift 41.5” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (PG42UQ). Was wondering for those that went 4k and possibly have OLEDs. 1. Going from a IPS monitor to OLED worth the extra cost? 2. OLED a big improvement with DCS World? 3. I see a lot of people using LG C2 TV/Monitors for DCS World. Those worth taking a look at? 4. For people that had DCS World with a 1440P and went to 4K, how big of a FPS hit did you take? If you had to turn down eye candy, was the extra resolution worth it? Thanks for any input or recommendations ahead of time!
  14. Yup that was it. Just needed to hit M. There a way to make them enabled by default instead of hitting M every time?
  15. So haven't added any Mods, read some of the other threads on the F14 Mirrors but haven't found a solution. Basically my mirrors in both the F14A and B are just blurry textures. Checked mirrors in the F18C and those look fine and work as expected. nullTried changing some settings around, but nothing seems to make a difference. Turned off settings or lowered the cockpit resolution down to 512, no difference. Verified that my description.lua in the F14\Liveries\F14B_Cockpit had the following set already. livery = { {"mirror_top", 0 ,"mirrors",true}; {"mirror_left", 0 ,"mirrors",true}; {"mirror_right", 0 ,"mirrors",true}; {"rio_mirror", 0 ,"mirrors",true}; } Anyone have ideas?
