Very cool. Thanks for the info.

Thanks I figured they might not be that different but since DCS is a much more in depth sim I wasn't sure if I would run into issues if I didn't do everything in the exact right order. I know the VRS superbug is a good representation for P3D but not sure how it holds up vs the DCS F/A-18. For example, in the Superbug you don't have to align the HMCS for it to work.

So I am new to the F/A-18 in DCS but have some experience in the VRS Superbug for P3D, including how to start the plane from cold and dark. I know the simulation in DCS is more in-depth however I am wondering for the most part, If I follow the same procedures that I learned in the VRS F/A-18 will I be able to start the plane in DCS? Thanks

Thanks.

Thanks. If it happens again I will try this.

So I am new to the game and currently have a trial of the F-16. Twice, including my last flight, I turned on the HMCS before takeoff and it worked, but at some point during the flight it disappeared and I couldn't figure out how to get it to reappear. The first thing I tried was to turn the knob up and down again bit that didn't work. So does anyone know what could be causing it to disappear and how I can get it back again? Thanks

Thank you, it never occurred to me to look for 2nd hand stuff but I will definitely check it out.

I currently fly using the Thrustmaster Flightstick X pictured below, but I would like to up my game and get a separate stick and throttle that's a little higher quality. Looking at the Thrustmaster site, everything that's geared for fighter jets is close to $500. Is there something in between my stick and the warthog that you would recommend? Also, I am looking at getting a desk mount so I can put the controls at a more natural level like these and I am wondering what brand you would suggest? It doesn't have to be fancy as long as it's sturdy.

So I downloaded the game awhile back and setup a few training missions in the editor and learned to hit targets using laser-guided bombs from the FA-18 and F-16 using the trial modules. Now I want to get the game for good and need some help with the editor again. One thing I had trouble with before is figuring out how to select a specific airport and starting spot. How do I change the start locaction of my plane? Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. What seemed to fix it for me was reinstalling Visual C++. Before, I would get errors on startup, but I could fix it by restarting the computer. However, with this last one nothing seemed to work until I repaired VC.
-
Thank you. This is ultimately what worked, and I was finally able to get the bombs to hit the target multiple times.
-
Thank you, what do I need to do to arm it?
-
Thanks. I can turn this one before I release weapons, is that correct? Edit: So I tried releasing the bombs from a much higher altitude at 20,00FT and manually lased the target immediately after release, but I still wasn't able to hit the target? I was exactly lined up with the vertical guideline but fairly close. Don't know why I could do it in the F-16 but struggle in the F/A-18
-
Thank you, that did cross my mind. Do you know what button it is to lase in the F/A-18? In the F-16 it was the trigger button first detent which I had bound to the trigger button on my joystick. However now I don't see that control in the control menu and when I try to manually lase it with my trigger button it doesn't work like it did in the F-16. Also, when you say my release looks off, how would I go about fixing it? Are you saying I need to adjust the release angle of the bomb? Thanks

Hello, so I am new to DCS and have just been practicing with dropping bombs, mainly the GBU 110 and 12. First I started in the F-16 and was able to hit my targets, however now I'm practicing in the F/A-18 and for some reason I can't seem to get the bombs to hit the target, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can release the weapon, but it never seems to find a target, even though I designated one through the HMD and have the TGP pointed at it. I will pot a short video to show you how I did it, to see if I did something wrong Any suggestions? Thanks

Hopefully this is the correct file. dcs.log-20240621-200759.zip

Hello. I am new to the game and it was running fine before, however now it seems like any time I try and load a flight the game will crash. I am trying to load a very basic mission I made in the editor. The only module I have is the free trial of the F/A-18 and I tried reinstalling everything including the game with no luck. Any ideas on what's causing it? I will post the crash log form windows below. DCS.exe 2.9.5.55918 665f03d5 VCRUNTIME140.dll 14.40.33810.0 119a1ae6 c0000005 0000000000011899 eec 01dac4125978690b C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\VCRUNTIME140.dll 09dcb2b8-a909-4454-89db-0a3d82f306d6 Thanks

Thanks, I see that now. I thought I only released one of each type. And im pretty sure I looked outside the plane and still had one of each type, but I guess I was wrong.
-
Maybe you're right, however, I was pretty sure that I dropped one of the 12's and one of the 10s. So I should have had 1 of each left. I am also fairly certain I confirmed this visually by looking outside.

Hello, so I am still new to DCS and have been practicing with the F-16. So far, I have figured how to launch bombs and have hit a few practice targets. However, today I ran into an issue. Before there was only one target, but this time I decided to add a couple of more targets and loaded 2 GBU-12's and two 10"S. I hit the first two targets without issue, however when I went for the third target I noticed I had lost the vertical line in the HUD and never got the countdown to fire line. Any ideas on why the line is missing. I made sure I was in AG mode, and had a target designated with the HMD. Any ideas on what I did wrong? I will post a screenshot below so you can see my configuration. Even when I was pointed at the target there was no line. Thanks
