  1. I've given it a go in IL2. Apart from the auto IPD being a bit sketchy (I intend to set it manually next go, not sure how that's done yet though) it's quite impressive. Flawless performance at native res and 90fps (5090 and 9800X3D). The higher rez over the OG is noticeable and the colours are betterer. The sun though, jeezuz!
  2. Mine's just been delivered. The address on the label is correct and Yamato hadn't already tried to deliver it, so fk knows what Pimax was talking about. Probably sitting there giggling, getting me at it. So, cleared customs on the 12th, I finally get it sixteen days later. I haven't opened the box yet, I've run out of energy.
  3. Lol, it doesn't end. "Hello! After checking with the logistics provider, we wanted to gently let you know that your 50PPD (Tracking Number: ***) couldn’t be delivered successfully and is currently being kept safely at the local logistics station. Please find the service station details below for your reference:" Apart from all the other tracking emails (three different links to three different sites) that say delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, not once in the nearly three years I've been here has any courier failed a delivery. The address is definitely correct. The missus happens to be in town shopping right now, so she's going to ring the provided number and see WTF is going on and maybe pick it up in person (last tracking update says it's at Yamato's in-town office, ready for delivery tomorrow).
  4. I don't know if Calvin kicked somebody's ass but I've had an email (not from support) saying a different courier (Black Cat/Yamato, top tier in Japan) will be delivering the unit on Tuesday (29th July). Way better than Amazon's "8th August". Memory kick...it's Yamato that DHL hand off to here. Fedex use a slower one.
  5. Lol. Couldn't make it up? Pimax managed it. Again.

  6. Just in from support...I swear to god, this couldn't be made up. "...and we fully understand your concern about the order progress. Regarding your order, we have arranged with Amazon for expedited handling, but Amazon system currently indicates the shipment date will be delayed until August." Followed by... "Your experience is always our priority, and if you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to let us know. We will do our best to resolve them for you." My reply, "So send it DHL ffs. Duh!" Time for the video now, the title of which will be 'Pimax Malice'. Somebody very clearly needs to have their employment terminated.
  7. Gee, on the original Mariannas map the looking-sideways at low level is almost completely stutter free. If they ever manage to post my Super from the Japanese warehouse, where it's been sitting on a shelf for a fortnight now, I'll test that too.
  8. Three days since the last email, in which they noted "3 to 5 working days to complete shipment", which was an increase from the previous "2 to 3 working days", followed by "have prioritized your order". Apart from the inherent insanity of that I could not see any tells that it was the product of an AI bot, which means...yes...an actual human typed it. A human totally oblivious to the insane contradictions therein. As a keen student of insanity and the human condition in general, I still found my mind wobbled on its axis a bit. Yeah. You'd think "have prioritized your order" would be "Hey fella, go grab that unit off the shelf AND POST IT...NOW!!!" But no. And, to assume zero insanity or a level of incompetence and ineptitude so far off the scale as to merit an orbit around Neptune, one is forced to consider actual malice. Yeah, it's deliberate. Just thinking out loud.
  9. I did it too, after hearing 'the news' that NVidia were going to cut back production by 30% "to stop prices falling too low". I also switched to the 9800X3D and yes, there is a significant improvement in VR.
  10. They finally managed an email that didn't sound like the product of an AI bot running on a Casio wristwatch. It's been on a shelf in Japan since it cleared customs 12th July and will now be shipped to me in "3 to 5 days". So that'll be at least a fortnight. New world record. One might think they've sold thousands of units to Japan, instead of the actual handful.
  11. Gonna go try the Mariannas now (with my new 9800X3D and 5090). Elsewhere there's a noticeable difference (still on the OG Crystal though).
  12. And they wonder why people grow to despise them. "Your ordered 50PPD has been successfully shelved at the overseas local warehouse and is currently pending shipment. It is expected to be shipped within 2-3 working days. Relevant logistics information will be sent to you via email after shipment. Please keep an eye on your inbox. We will track the shelving situation upon arrival at the local warehouse and synchronize further shipment progress to you at that time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your support! Best Regards" Apparently it's both successfully at the local warehouse and yet still awaiting to arrive at the local warehouse. Shrodinger's frikking headset. An email full of quantum waffle, blather and jibber-jabber. "We will track the shelving situation upon arrival at the local warehouse and synchronize further shipment progress to you at that time." Just...WHAT? Uh? Was that translated from Martian by a retarded AI bot? "Your ordered Pimax Crystal Super 50PPD has completed customs clearance in the destination country and is currently being transported to the local warehouse. The shipment is in transit and is expected to arrive at the warehouse in about 1 week, after which it will be shelved and shipped." Destination country = Japan. Currently being transported to the local warehouse. Local to where, the airport it just got flown into? Okinawa? If it landed in Okinawa and the warehouse is in Hokkaido (other end of the country), by what means would it take a "week" to get there? Bicycle?! Never mind all your other BS that's an outright disgrace, your 'shipping' is on a whole other level.
  13. The latest Pimax Play is giving me the same momentary freezes but on the OG Crystal (with a 5090 now and maybe it's crap NVidia drivers in the mix, who knows or can tell anymore).
  14. Nine days after the email telling me the item had cleared customs and would be "expected to arrive at the warehouse in about 1 week, after which it will be shelved and shipped." with no further communication. I thought the "week" would be a worse-case scenario and expected it to be arriving at my door a lot sooner. DHL usually manage it on the same day (clears customs, package arrives late afternoon). Fedex, next day. But Pimax? Ooooh no, of COURSE not. Nine days later, I guess they put it on the van for points Alaska. Or maybe Hong Kong. What's that tried and trusty UK expression..."couldn't organize a pissup in a brewery". So, where's my headset, Pimax? Seven months not long enough for ya?
