Thanks! I haven't tried ATC or comms yet. Will try that. I had seen illuminate cockpit, but assumed it was alternative for panel lights. Will try that. Might map it to panel lts button on hotas with a modifier. I don't mind it being bugged, at least a little bit, but only if I can see the runway! I landed at runway 10, but that might explain why instruments veering off course if its wanting runway 28. At least if its looking to fly pattern but I thought it was straight in (or back course if runway now swapped). If the guy you tagged is a dev, perhaps he can shed some light (fnaar fnaar).

It was just for compatibility with DCS 2.5.6. I emailed DCS a few weeks ago for link to DCS 2.5.6, they have this available for compatibility with older OS's that doesn't run the latest version and older hardware that struggles with the latest version as its a lot less demanding. I'm getting steady 90-100 fps on 2017 hardware, sometimes up to 120fps. Anyways so I wondered if other older versions of software might be available.

I played this and found it very strange. Difficult but seems to be more difficult than it needs to be. First of all you can't even see the runway until you are right on top of it! And need your own lights on to see it at all. Also the HSI is so faint you can hardly see the indicators, I have had to pause and zoom in to check. The waypoints seem to change suddenly on approach, you are reasonably lined up and then suddenly the required altitude changes or on final the direction and altitude changes. Appreciate there is no ILS but trying to intercept the localiser when you cant fully see the instruments and can't trust the instruments you can see and no visual makes a hard challenge almost impossible. I did this first time on autopilot as I thought this is what was required (I think I forgot to press space so mission instructions got stuck) and it landed fine, cant remember which runway though, i thought 10. Have recently tried it a few times each time trying to follow the instruments and it they take you off course, usually to the left of the runway and high. So I just follow the approach until I can see the airport light sand aim for the edge of the blue lights as thats where the runway should be and roughly have heading 100 for runway 10. Then crabbing into the wind anyway and just managed it. Seems a bit unrealistic as at night the runway would be lit up and/or you would fly instruments in bad weather - although visibility is not really the issue in this scenario as its fine below a certain height.

I'm interested in getting the F-5E module. Have seen two versions, one with FC2024 and an older (3rd party?) depreciated version. I'm running DCS 2.5.6 so it looks like the newer version will not work (needs DCS 2.9.6) and the older depreciated version doesn't have any purchase links. Are there any other versions or any way to purchase depreciated versions? Actually initially saw a remastered version, which also requires a later DCS version so wonder if there was a non remastered version that I can buy and will run on DCS 2.5.6. I originally posted this in FC version thread but it may be equally (or more) appropriate in this standalone thread.

I've recently downloaded DCS version 2.5.6 and will look to expand my horizons with some modules. Saw FC3 and FC2024 and their wide range of aircraft and it seems like good value to try before going on to dedicated modules. But it looks like you cannot buy FC3 anymore and FC2024 needs a later version of DCS to run? Is it possible to get FC3, it doesn't appear to have any link to buy just takes you to its page? Or can get a version of FC2024 to work with DCS 2.5.6? Alternatively I think I can buy a couple of FC3 modules, which work with DCS 2.5.6.

I have recently rebinded my keys after buying a new HOTAS (WW Orion 2). After initially binding some keys I later noticed all binds had disappeared, including default keys. I have since reloaded default keys and rebinded keys and axis for the new HOTAS. But am noticing an issue with mouselook command LAlt+C, whihc has been rebinded to mouse button 2. LAlt+C toggles the look/select mode fine, but mouse button 2 only takes it out of look mode into select mode. It does not return to look mode, to get there you need to use LAlt+C again. Can anyone advise? I'm thinking there may be native button 2 inputs for the mouse, eg button 1 may provide a primary input and 2 a secondary? I did have it on button 3 before but I like having this for view centre when looking around using the mouse. I'm using DC 2.5.6 and the two free aircraft, it has the issue with both. I've not bought any modules as yet.

So I recently bought Winwing ORION 2 HOTAS and it is a great replacement for may ageing Saitek X-55. Never been a huge fan of using bundled software with peripeherals, usually just drivers only. Fortunately I've never had to previously as you get software programs like SPAD and FSUIPC to interface with flight sims. Anyways I've done enough reading to see the benefits and wanted to get the most from the Winwing setup. However, when starting I noticed a few error dialog boxes, see pictures below. This was after initially downloading, the setup.exe file would not appear to anything after double clicking. Only managed to get to install after running in compatibility mode for windows 7. Not sure if its that or something else. It also doesn't seem to have any keybind presets, eg as per the manual and I don't think it connects to DCS, eg for game configuration detection. This happens when SimAppPro is started, either manually or if set to run when windows starts. I couldn't see an option to start it with DCS starting, but could write a script. I'm using Windows 7 and DCS 2.5.6.
