  1. Yea but now that I am opening the cooler flaps, she's not dying. I'll post a file when she does die again. Could have been the bubliator valve (old joke from an old man). LouP
  2. Are you guys able to run the Pimax software without disconnecting monitors. It's one of the reasons I switched back to Track IR with a 55" UHD TV for a monitor. LouP
  3. OK, I think I figured it out. I opened the intercooler and oil cooler before take-off, and all went well (as far as the seizing issue). As I said right when the engine seized previously, I hit the escape key to freeze the action and all temps looked OK on the instruments. It's as if the position of the various cooling flaps is determining when the engine should fail instead of the temperatures as shown on the gauges. I know this may seem like the same thing but when you are watching your gauges to determine when to open the flaps, it can mess you up as you will think all is well and not open the flaps yet. But I am confused if this is true as to why it didn't just seize on the carrier deck. Something seems not quite right. Thank you all, LouP
  4. Just to add, weird thing is I flew the mission once with no issues and this problem cropped up once I tried to add some ordinance. I was still under gross weight so it shouldn't have been an issue. Is there any way to retrieve the track if I already shut DCS down? If not, I need to go re-fly the mission tomorrow. Thanks, LouP
  5. Like the title says. I have the mixture set halfway, reduce throttle to 40 and bring back the rpms to 24. I am also leaving the cowl flaps open to avoid overheating. All gauges look good when she seizes and I'm on the main tanks. The aircraft is spawning on the carrier in a mission with engines running so it can't be a start-up procedure issue. I've been simming forever and was a real-world pilot. I'm at my wits end with this thing as I can't think of another option to try. LouP

  7. Hi, I'm still pretty new here and trying to learn. After a mission I like to use the replay function to see what went right and wrong for me during the mission. But when watching the replay things don't transpire as they did when I was flying. I'll get shot when I didn't get shot in the mission, my engines will die in the replay when they ran fine for me during the whole mission (but I do become the world's most efficient glider), sometimes the enemies that I shot during the mission are not there during the replay, so it looks like I was drinking whiskey and just shooting at the empty ground space. Is this normal for DCS? Can it be corrected somehow? Thanks, LouP
  8. Agree but just thinking out loud as way to free this up a bit. I do like the "scramble" option suggestion. I'm still learning this stuff as I just started in with DCS a couple weeks ago. Didn't realize how much I missed the combat flight sim before I started. Moved on to regular flight sims years ago but glad I got DCS and came back. LouP
  9. I think all that is needed is another category like "free flight" so you can load any aircraft from any start point for practice or just cruising. LouP
  10. Yup, broke out my trusty Track IR ver 3 and got the proper software installed and it still works like a charm. Much more stable and I am having an easier time zooming in now. I tried to get it going before I bought beam eye tracker but it wasn't working. I've since found out that Natural Point stopped supporting the ver 3 hardware so I needed to install older drivers and software that still had support for it. After that it worked great. Wish I found all this out earlier, could have saved 30 bucks. At least I know how much better Track IR is and It was nice to not have to wear anything and having the software track my eyes and my head movement. I also heard that even Tobi is not as stable as Track IR so I could have thrown away ten times the amount of money. I also have a Pimax Crystal light and that thing is the nuts in DCS. The only problem is that there are just too many buttons to push in the real world with DCS aircraft. LouP
  11. Track IR is known to be the most stable of the trackers out there, I just don't want to wear anything on my head anymore. Though this may be the good reason to go back to it. LouP
  12. I think it's the mission type that's driving this as it doesn't work with the f15 and there are only air battle missions available for that aircraft. Doing some more testing. BTW, thanks for the help.
  13. Just test the FW190A8 and that works, also. I'll go back and try the F15C again to see if it works better now.
  14. I don't have the f-16, I was trying it out with the F15C and the P51. Neither would work for me. Can't put the thing on the ground. I tried dragging it to an airport on the map and that didn't work, either. This is not good. Don't become another MSFS, I thought I got away from that mess. OK, just tried again with the P51 and it worked. I think I borked my dcs trying so hard to get it to work.
  15. If I do it at the start by pressing the "edit" button next to "Allied Groups", the only option available to me is "air"

  17. I liked the old tool much better. Can't start at an airport now.
  18. Yes, I have the zoom tied to a slider on my Virpil throttle. Trouble with that is when I zoom in the opentrack jitters all over the place pretty much making that unusable. I was reading that the higher the resolution the more difficult it is, which makes sense to me now that I looked into it. Reason being that if the object is only showing up as 1 pixel, that pixel is very very small. I turn the spotting dots to auto but haven't tried that out yet. LouP
  19. Well, in a way, these posts make me feel a little better. My first post in this forum was about not being able to see any ground targets and now I know I'm not the only one. Makes me wonder if this was on purpose to keep game performance up and to help DCS from becoming another frame rate nightmare like MSFS. LouP
  20. Hi All, My first post here. I'm brand new to DCS but trying to learn. I'm trying to get the hang of the A10-A for now but am having a hard time seeing enemy on the ground. Because I'm new at this I put labels on for now while I'm getting the hang of things. But I'm still having issues seeing any targets on the ground especially through the TVM. I've even active paused it and placed the camera over the label using the tv reticule in the HUD but still can't see anything. If I can't see an enemy while paused, I'm worried about the future while moving. I read somewhere that the higher the resolution of your display the harder it is to see a target (which makes no sense to me). I'm playing on a 55" Samsung UHD 4K television that looks great but don't understand why I can't see any targets on the ground. Am I more blind than I thought I was or is this just the way it is? LouP
