Hi everyone, I'm getting into scripting for DCS and I'd like to learn Lua specifically for that purpose. I already have experience with Python, Java, and C++. Lua looks quite different from what I'm used to, and I’d appreciate some advice on the best way to approach learning it. Are there any particular resources, tutorials, or example scripts that helped you get started? Would you recommend focusing on generic Lua first, or jumping straight into DCS-related use cases? Thanks in advance!

DCS: MiG-29 Fulcrum external fuel tank
Civetta_ITA replied to Sperling's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Mig29 can carry only one fuel tank (central position)... -
Hi all... I'm writing about an issue that has been known for many years but still affects DCS: the energy management of AI-controlled aircraft. I created a test mission: F-14 (human controlled) vs. SU-27 (AI set to Ace). If you look at the Tacview file that I've attached, the final part of the engagement is particularly telling, after the initial rolling scissors phase. The SU-27 manages to follow the F-14 in the vertical despite starting with an initial energy deficit of 0.2 Mach (F-14 at 0.99 Mach vs. SU-27 at 0.8 Mach). When the SU-27 starts its climb, it's evident that it experiences virtually no energy loss. Can anything be done to address this apparent bug in the AI's flight model/logic? Thank you. I just finished the F-4 (MiG Killer) campaign by Reflected Simulations, and I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for what is, in my opinion, one of the best DCS single-player experiences available right now. From the very first mission, it's clear how much care and research went into creating this campaign. The historical context, the mission briefings, the voiceovers, and the dynamic feeling of being part of an active and evolving air war all contribute to a deeply immersive experience. You’re not just flying sorties — you’re living through a slice of Cold War air combat history. What really impressed me, beyond the immersion and production quality, was how educational the campaign is when it comes to air-to-air tactics. Each mission teaches you something — whether it's energy management, situational awareness, working with your wingman, or employing the radar and weapons systems effectively under pressure. The learning curve is well-balanced, and you come out of the campaign not only entertained, but a significantly more competent Phantom pilot. The difficulty feels just right: challenging enough to be rewarding, but never frustrating. It encourages you to improve and adapt without ever becoming a grind. The missions feel handcrafted, not procedural — each one has a unique flavor and objective, keeping things fresh and engaging throughout. Huge thanks and congratulations to Reflected Simulations for creating such a high-quality, historically grounded, and truly instructive campaign. It's clear a tremendous amount of passion went into it. Looking forward to whatever comes next!

After some test, I can say that the bug is still exist. Place an EWR, in SP works fine...in MP dosen't. As my post here:
-
Hi everyone... I'm trying to use the EWR instead of the AWACS (RED SIDE on the new MIG-29A), but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. I placed an EWR on the field, changed its frequency and name, but when I try the mission on the multiplayer server, the EWR doesn't work properly and doesn't respond to the radio. In single-player, it works... Thanks in advance...
-
Hi guys... Has this bug been fixed as far as you know? I'm trying a multiplayer mission and I'm having the same problem: the EWR isn't communicating with the planes...

I've tried to turn off EPLRS on advance option into AWACS and seem it works..

Thanks for the reply @dutchili. I was thinking that maybe I could purposely break the datalink on each aircraft if it were possible to create a fault in their system. Yesterday I checked the F18 page but didn't find anything useful. Today I'll look at the F16 page and try again.
-
Good morning everyone... I'm asking you, who are certainly more experienced than I am. I'm trying to prepare a campaign with my friends set in Syria in 1991, and I'd like to disable the datalinks of the F18s and F16s to make their presence more consistent in the context. Is this possible with ME? PS: I have no experience in LUA scripting.

@Dača Click on the TEXT (100%, 10%, OFF)...I spent maybe 1 hour to understand that eh eh

I love you!!! Yessssss!!!!! Thanks you so much @Gladius

No MOD and v2.9.20.15010... No RSBN at all...really strange... I already did a repair but nothing...
-
Hi @wired521, thanks you for your reply. Negative...I forced it in 2025 but with Combined Joint Task (RED) I have just category ARMOR. With Russia, under Support and Logistics, I don't find anything. Any solution?
-
Hi all... Sorry to bother you, but I have a problem: I can't find the vehicle to enable RSBN (RSBN car) in the mission editor. I'm using the Syria map in 1991, and I can't find the appropriate vehicle in the UNARMED category (under RUSSIA). What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance...

Really appreciate...thanks a lot!

Hi Reflected, I just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying MIG KILLER. The campaign is not only very well put together, but also highly educational. The level of detail and the flow of the missions kept me fully immersed from the very beginning. I’m currently on mission 4, having just completed the intense 2 vs 1 engagement, and I can’t wait to continue and see what’s coming next. Being a long-time F-4 fan, this campaign feels like a perfect fit for me. On top of that, the documentation you included is outstanding—clear, well-structured, and of the highest quality. It really adds depth to the whole experience and makes the campaign feel both authentic and accessible. Thanks for all the effort and passion you put into your work. Looking forward to your next projects!
