  1. > This is compounded by a couple factors, including "Strike" giving directions to targets in very uncertain terms ("Bogies to the West", "Bandits flying from Abu Musa") rather than proper BRAA calls. There's a pretty egregious example of this in Mission 14 when the enemy helos take off from Abu Musa about 8 miles from the helos you're trying to protect. The radio call tells you they're at Angels 1.6, so obviously Strike knows exactly where those helos are, but he doesn't give you any kind of range indication at all. A simple "from Abu Musa" or "at 8 miles" would have made it way easier to find these things, I had no idea where to look for them since I know from previous missions that sometimes stuff just spawns in the air hot on you. The entire call is "bandits west angels 1.6 hot." I'm doing my best here given the situation but the lack of SA here still results in a mission fail Tacview-20250906-100250-DCS.zip.acmi - i'm hanging out at angels 20 because based on previous missions i'm expecting a flight of 4 fixed-wings to come try to kill me at any moment - as soon as I get the radio call, I pointed my nose at 270, went to 6 bar scan, and angled my radar down - unbeknownst to me, these things are so close that they're still out of my radar scan - so i crash dive down to angels 4 thinking a nose-on scan will have to see them - but by the time i do that, they're already to my 9 o' clock and i've missed them. i keep flying around and scanning but because i'm scared of AAA on abu musa that limits my movement. never found them by the time they killed my guys Feels very silly to be losing missions to stuff like this.
  2. Yeah I don't have a feel for the HARM range yet so I was trying to push it either until the threat ring or until the SA-6 locked me up, didn't realize it was locking my wing (he's a computer and doesn't communicate)
  3. Yeah, I think the audio cue went off fine. But the SA6 launched on my wingman when he was 21.5nm away, and that missile impacted him when he was around 12.5nm away and still outside what I was seeing in-game as the threat circle on the SA. Not sure if that'd be a mission-specific issue or something with DCS itself, just thought I'd flag it. If the SA6 had targeted me instead I would have blown up somewhere where the voiceover was telling me I was still out of range. Tacview to make it easier to see Tacview-20250903-185232-DCS.zip.acmi
  4. Thanks for taking a look! On the wingman part, I'm wondering if maybe the range of the SA6 got changed as well? I got an audio prompt along the lines of "we're 6 miles from his engagement zone" and I think my wing got hit a decent amount before we were in the engagement circle on my SA page.
  5. > Problem 3: While reaching about 30NM from the carrier and descending to land I get a "Mission failed" screen because the last objective was not accomplished. Just had this happen to me too on a current build, pretty sure I smoked the SA-6 as he didn't shot at me and it said in the kill log at the end of the mission that I got him (it also said that my wingman got his ass shot off, which sounds like a skill issue on his side). Track attachedpersian lion mission 12 bad failure mode.trk
  6. Thanks, yeah I don't have a ton of perspective here since I'm new and this is only my second campaign. I didn't realize you could re-arm in campaigns (the other one I played, Inherent Resolve, constantly tells you DO NOT CHANGE LOADOUT but I guess that isn't a general thing). I can partially fix this on my end then by packing AIM-120s.
  7. Hey first of all thanks for responding and for making the campaign, I'm really enjoying basically all of it except the dogfights > It should also be noted that the F5s are armed with Aim9ps so rear aspect only compared to your 9Xs which are all aspect. Maybe this got changed by an update or something, but they have AIM-9Ls now (this is in Mission 6 I think, the first 2v4 you have to do?) which are all-aspect. Yes I'm obviously still in a better plane than them in the 18, but going into a merge with multiple bandits with Fox-2s is always going to be a risky thing. I eventually managed the fight since I knew exactly where they'd spawn on my second attempt, but without the benefit of hindsight you have very little SA with them spawning so close. It's pretty tricky to manage all that on your first try to get your one Fox-3 off, then you have to try to survive the merge. The time I actually beat it, I had to survive an AIM-7E and an AIM-9L shot straight at me just to get to the merge. Track attached in case you don't believe me about the 9Ls (ignore the fact that I generally suck). PL Mission 6 I think.acmi Love the campaign, just wish I didn't keep having to deal with these very risky dogfights at the end of otherwise good missions. Mission 6 isn't even that bad since you get to the fight pretty quickly, but some of the later ones make you do these dogfights after a lot of ground action. Difficulty of the ground vs air sections is really out of whack. It also ruins the vibe of doing thought-out, professional strikes when you're repeatedly waltzing into these bad situations without support or modern missiles. There isn't any air-to-ground at all in Mission 6, why don't I have a reasonable anti-air loadout?
  8. Man I don't know why nobody listened to you here but these same points are driving me insane. Why am I constantly being asked to go 2v4 against fighters that spawn 15 miles away hot, and then I only have Fox-2s? Their AI seems to know exactly where I am even when we're in clouds, but then I don't even have an AWACS to help me keep an eye on them. The first half of Mission 8 is awesome but I don't really feel like going through another 40 minutes of it just to attempt this bull<profanity> dogfight again.
  9. I think I must have slept with the wife of whoever plotted the waypoints for this mission. The egress takes you right by an enemy airfield, I guess for theatrics. Only problem with that is that sometimes AAA get lucky hits in. I got blasted, lost most of my electronics and fuel, and had to bail out a few miles short of the coast. Really sucked after such a fun mission, especially since it seemed to be due to a needlessly risky route (why wouldn't I just fly three miles to the left to avoid the airbase altogether)? Loved the mission, by the way, just would have also loved to have landed at the end of it.
