Interesting! Should I interpret this as firmware being the culprit after all, but in order to replace a throttle already 'damaged' by this, one needs to replace the whole motherboard with one with the new firmware loaded rather than being able to just flash the new firmware onto the existing motherboard?

Perhaps worth mentioning that in an e-mail I received from Thrustmaster about this whole issue a few weeks ago (just prior to the 18 fw release) they literally stated the problem was not related to a certain batch or range of serial no.s. I no longer have the e-mail for an exact quote, but that's more or less what it said.

Weren't there any throttle failures with people using the WH itself from a powered USB hub? That should rule out failures due to motherboard voltage fluctuations.

Very interesting, so there finally is some progress! My WH is still unused since purchase until I am confident it is either fixed via firmware or confirmed 'luck of the draw'. Lets hope they fix the firmware to cope with ASUS' chipset..!
