  1. AFAIK not, but it will nevertheless benefit from being run in a DX10 OS, due to the multicore load distribution optimisation of DX10.

?? Not sure what you mean.

If the OS is better at utilising multicores, e.g. Windows 7, then fine. But if the program doesn't actually use DX10 then how does the "multicore load distribution optimisation of DX10" make any difference?

I have total certainty in doubting that the DCS engine uses the DX10 api, and can affirm conclusively that it will be a total surprise if it used it for the A-10 module.

So far my conclusion is that the A10 sim will not support multicore, nor will it utilise DX10.

  2. This new A10 sim that's eventually coming out (I have faith) ... will it support multicore processors? What DirectX will it support?

    I'm about to upgrade to:

    Athlon 240

    4GB RAM

    HD3850

    Windows 7

Thus I would consider buying it if it can run at a decent FPS on my system.

  3. I'm trying to configure my X52 so that the slider on the throttle controls the cockpit zoom. In the input options screen I set the 'zoom view' axis to 'Slider0' but this doesn't seem to make any difference ... nothing happens when I use the slider in the cockpit. I know the hardware is good because it works in other games.

    I'm using 1.01. Any ideas?

  4. and don't forget WS doesn't work properly for Su25T due to "hardcoded" settings...so lets hope BS is different...i.e. configurable, at least via text edits etc.

Can you say in what way it doesn't work properly? Is it unplayable?

I'm thinking about getting a widescreen monitor, but before I do I need to know whether Flaming Cliffs will support it properly (I don't mind text edits as long as the aspect ratio of the image is correct and there's no artefacts like stretched instruments, etc.)

  5. Might be a great game & that many structures in the cities might make for great ambush possibilities, but it those screenshots didn't look graphically 'pretty' at all

Remember how old this game is. In all fairness, people should be comparing its graphics with that of Falcon AF, since they were both released about the same time and have been heavily modded since.

Mind you, I personally think the graphics look great. I spent many an hour on this sim when it first came out, and after seeing the SimHQ article I've just bought a copy from Ebay to do it all over again! Should absolutely rock with TrackIR!

  6. I found one where I didn't have to. What did you mean by 'all your results are put in the server'?

    Pregnancy test results.

I'm itching to play a good clicky-clicky RTS. I played Blitzkrieg and all its expansion packs plus the sequel to death, is there anything else out there that's good?
