  1. @Cibit: I sent him a message via the contact form on his website. From there on he kept me updated about the status of my order.
  2. Ordered a 10cm extension 2 weeks ago. After a few days the postman had the goodies in his bag:) This was the best investment after my TIR! It completely changes the feel of the warthog. Finally I´m able to make use of the warthogs excellent mechanical precision. Now I can´t imagine to use a stock warthog anymore, in fact I should have bought an extension a long time ago! Anybody still in doubt if it´s worth the money should consider that the warthog was allready quite an investment and the extension catapults it to a completely different level of precision! regards Lami/Thomas
  3. hi guys, somewhat similar question, so I reutilize this thread. Coming back after break I have an old working install of 1.2.16 on my sdd. Should I use dcs_updater.exe to update to 1.5 or is it better to go for a fresh install? I mean, many things have changed, will updater result in a stable install?
  4. Great stream! Looked very promising with great visuals and high performance!
  5. @jeffyd123: ROFL, really great one :D
  6. Very interesting read! Thx for sharing your thoughts BBall.
  7. @jeffyd123: lol, that´s a really good one :D ...and yes, some serious beeing blown away going on here it seems:) - but I´m not surprised by that, it´s been a while back that I was awaiting my next sim-session thus eagerly...
  8. Thx all, allready feeling comfortable and part of it:)
  9. Thx all for your input. @TimA: Thx for the link, quite interesting read. I won´t use it as is, but this profile is really good inspiration how to solve some areas. And creating the profile on my own helps me a great lenght to memorize what I need to know. It´s like having prepared papers for cheating in school - you never need them, cos u know the stuff you have written ;)
  10. 64 here, quite for some time allready.
  11. Exactly my approach. The only way for me to realize what is really needed often and quickly - and thus useful on the HOTAS, and other functions that seem important while reading but are rarely used in real action and thus ok to be on the keyboard or so. Once again thx for your support, it´s highly apprecated when a routined user is helping out in this critical and important topics:)
  12. Thx a lot u2 for pointing that out! That absolutely clarifies which route to go.
  13. After having drooled on my keyboard for quite some hours ´cos of my excitement about this nice sim I´m now trying to get to serious business and try to work out my VAC and HOTAS profiles. And right here my confusion starts to build up massively. I´ve read the manual for some hours and watched some training lessons and videos on youtube, but up till now I really do not know what could be a really good approach for a consistent handling-philosophy for my X-52 HOTAS. One approach could be to mimic the real HOTAS-concept of the A-10C as described in the coresponding manual chapter (i.e. using the 3 X-52 modes to map my 3 hats and some buttons to all the real HOTAS-functions found in the A-10 pit). But I think this method relies heavily on the use of the mouse in the clickable pit. Another one could be to map explicit functions to all the availible buttons and hats without mimicing the real thing (i.e. e.g. btn x = toggle gear, btn y = toggle airbrake and so on). As the A-10C with all it´s systems is quite complex I think it´s essential to have a solid concept for the task at hand to make it easier to handle the aircraft in the heat of battle. So I´m questioning myself which method other experienced simmers with limited budget have chosen? Any hints which direction to go? Any help would be highly appreciated. regards Laminator
  14. There are different possibilities for the zoom funcion. One method is to map the z-axis movement of TIR to the zoom function in the sim. It´s a nice way to operate the zoom, and after a very short period of getting used to it it´s a very intuitive way to zoom in and out. The drawback is, you lose z-movement of your head in the sim - you can not move your head back and forth in the cockpit anymore with TIR. This method I use for exampl in ArmA 2. In Flightsims I don´t want to lose z-movement in the cockpit, so I map zoom to the slider on the Throttle of my Saitek X-52 system. This way I have full zoom control and z-movement. You will love your TIR. In fact you will be questioning yourself why you didn´t buy it years ago;) edit: ups, too slow... ;)
  15. It´s exactly the same feeling I get when I fly the plane. I can´t judge how close the flightmodel is to the real thing, but it exactly feels like two pilots of the ANG described it in a documentary I saw yesterday on youtube. A real joy to have a NOE-ride in the mountains, 100ft AGL. Amazing. @all: thx for the warm welcome :) Up till now I only had a look at the cockpit familiarization and the startup-procedure. Then I took the plane to a first ride. And then another one, and another one... ;) And now I can´t wait until I get familiar with the avionics system - as said before countless hours of interesting stuff and a possibility to get in depth insights in stuff far out of reach in real life. Great!
  16. Thx sobek! I see you are Austrian. Me too;) lol, the world seems to be a small place sometimes...
  17. Hi Community, I bought A-10 today on steam before leaving home in the morning and initiated the installation. After coming home and starting the sim the first time, I´m completely blown away by the quality of this marvelous piece of software:thumbup:! I recently bought Blackshark and Flaming Cliffs 2 (LockOn Platinum) and both run fine on my system. But initially I had great doubt that my old system (Intel Q6600, ATI 4850-512, 4GB RAM, Vista-64) would be able to run this high quality sim in a satisfying manner (Community reactions on 1C´s CoD made my doubts even bigger). But what I have seen ´till now made me smile to the utmost extent! Without fiddling around with the options and eagerly entering the sim I have excellent framerates and smoth flying, it´s simply amazing. My impression is that A-10C loocks much nicer than the Shark and runs even smoother. Maybe 64-bit code helps in this respect? As a sidenote, I´m an old Falconeer, having approx. 1000-1200hrs on Falcon 3 and Falcon 4 in various versions and something like around 800hrs in Il-2, but I never found my way into the LockOn-world. The keyboard layout and whole ui-philosophy of this product-family were a barrier I never could hop over. But Blackshark and the lack of HQ-sims (except the very nice RoF) made me learn this Product Family - and now I´m happy about it. Now i´m sure great things and countless hours of enjoyment are waiting for me with BS, the ultranice Hog and anything that might come in the future from ED. Thank you very much ED! And btw, I´m happy to be part of this nice Community here. regards Laminator
