No more CDU messing with JTAC for target location (for starters)
711Hancer replied to 711Hancer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hmm interesting is it related with skill level of JTAC? or type effect (type 1 2 or 3) -
No more CDU messing with JTAC for target location (for starters)

 so well said warriorX. Very true. For that case I wrote in my first post "But....we do all these with CDU and take our notes to 9LINE info cards" -
No more CDU messing with JTAC for target location (for starters)
711Hancer replied to 711Hancer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
the best part of this sim and A-10C is that you can do the same task with different approaches unlike any other sim. -
One of the most confusing part of the this great sim for the starters is to interact with JTAC properly and one of the most important part of this interaction is to know where your targets are located exactly so that you dont mess around with your TGP searching targets. Here is an easy way for the people who dont want to deal with CDU, OFFSET or WP pages and enter a new waypoint, switch to mission, enter UTM...etc. You can use your TAD. 1- After contacting with JTAC and receive the 9-LINE information, he will instruct you to "further talk on" 2- You will simply continue to talk and say "ready to copy" 3- He will instruct you further for weapon and threat type 4- You have to insist on talking :) and repeat the information. You readback. Like in RL and civil aviation. 5- After Readback, he will say "readback correct" and "ready for data" 6- Make your TAD SOI. If you notice, you will get a new MSG in your MFCDs. You press ACK key on TAD OSB and PRESS WILCO OSB if you want to do this job. 7- You will also notice a small red triangle in your TAD screen. (Zoom-in or out with DMS up/down to locate) If this red triangle is over/close to one of your SPI or Steerpoints you can slew your cursor on TAD screen to the location near this red triangle and press china hat FWD two times to get into EXP 2 max zoom mode to separate this triangle from other marks. 8- Then with your cursor, move over to the triangle and "Hook" it with "TMS UP SHORT". Now a yellow line is coming from your plane and directing the red triangle. Now comes the easy part. Press OSB 17 where it says a number and a question mark. i.e 8? or whatever your currently assigned max waypoints. This will make the red triangle a new waypoint. Which is your target. 9- Then from the AAP panel switch from "flight plan" to "mission" 10- Using UFC rocker key, move up to this newly created waypoint ( in our example its waypoint 8 ) and press china hat long while your TGP is your active SOI. Now with your TGP you are looking in the exact location JTAC instructed you to attack. The above method may sound mouthful but believe me its easy. Only 10 seconds after READBACK. To summarise: ---SLEW, locate the red triangle, TMS UP to hook and press OSB 17 for new waypoint--- No more CDU messing. You can alternatively check your message screen and get your heading and range infromation from a particular waypoint and use OFFSET page to enter these data. But you have to use CDU :) But....we do all these with CDU :) and take our notes to 9LINE info cards This is just an alternate way.

Difference between IR and Laser spotting
711Hancer replied to 711Hancer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
when we use both IR and lase for spotting does it affect the accuracy? the point is I dont understand the "both" feature :) -
Difference between IR and Laser spotting
711Hancer replied to 711Hancer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
so what I see is IR spotter right? :) a nice 10nm line.. :) -
exactly one question is after formation with flight members do we use only formation lights and turn off all the external lights?
-
What is the difference between IR spotting / laser spotting / using both in TGP? I mean laser can be detected if used too much and enemy can avoid/move out. But in terms of accuracy can we use IR spotting? If we are not using any GBU-12 type laser guided bombs, can we rely on IR spotting all the time when marking with TGP?
-
somebody correct me but in civil aviation its as follows: -Position lights ON after APU startup -Anti collision lights ON before engine startup -Wheel light to TAXI before taxi -Strobe (Flash) ON before entering runway -Wheel light to LAND before take-off but I dont know about military rules and please somebody guide us when to use flash, when steady and when to use anti collision

Manual vs Automatic lasing and Mk-82AIR questions
711Hancer replied to Nasder's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Also when you start lasing the moment you release the bomb, you will deplete the bombs energy since the bomb makes lots of adjustments for the laser. Its best to make it auto lase between 10-15 secs so that you wont get detected and the bomb does not use lots of energy to make changes on its course according to the laser pointer. -
In real life, are CBUs really effective for heavy tanks? I mean they can take our APCs, small armored tanks or BMPs easily but a heavy armored tank should not be fully destroyed.

Thank you so much but in other case, setting a higher HOF will also result in more spread of the burst as well? So trucks aligned in a round shape, cluster wise; we shall set higher HOF and if trucks are i.e on a road vertically aligned we shall set higher rpm?
-
Could someone please explain me what is the Spin RPM for CBU where in the INV page we can set this value along with the HOF. Do you guys ever played with spin RPM value when deploying CBUs?

good old falcon 4.0 has variety of HUD colours available to the pilot. I wonder is it also true for the real F-16?

My versions of System/Caution and Weapon Usage checklists
711Hancer replied to rob10's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
very comprehensive thank you:thumbup: just one question regarding mav use: 15. TMS FWD to LOCK MAV to TGT - crosshair will shimmer and centre will close when locked - small cross will flash while MAV is LOCKED - if MAV won't lock, try jiggling slew 16. CHINA HAT AFT - boresights (HUD centre) the MAV SEEKER 17. WPN RELEASE to fire (Launch Inhibit msg if don't have valid lock) item 16. why do we do that? I mean after getting a solid lock and crosshair flashing we should fire. Why do we have to put mav to boresight and then fire? -
Exactly what I mean. Point track is good for moving targets but when creating a markpoint for an immobile target, i.e an ammo depot, does it really create difference to point track or just simply slew the cursor, use laser and designate it with TMS right click
-
Does calibrate fnc under stby mode provides anything usefull or implemented in the sim? and one more curious question, point tracking is usefull only for moving targets?

How to properly set up Saitek Rudders?
711Hancer replied to gharness84's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Could you please help me on the sensitivity of x-52? What are your settings for deadzone, curvature and saturation for pitch and roll axis? -
Thanks again and I think that by pressing t/o trim, the indicator light flashes just one second right? It does not illuminate all the time.
-
Thank you for your answer so in our example at 137 knots my ADI and HUD must show 10 degrees before takeoff? and the plane eventually lifts off at 147? or I have to pull at 137 and wait for a/c to lift off at whatever speed. sorry for my noobish questions :)
-
I have been trying to make calculations for the takeoff reference table provided, but no matter what, I cannot takeoff at the exact speed(+- 5knts) provided by the table. In this case; Taking the reference of gross weight of 40.000 which I checked before starting the mission including empty weight + fuel weight and payload, I should be rotating on 127knts with flaps 7 and the aircraft should takeoff on 137knts. (I tried this with calm winds, i.e crosswind of 4knts) But generally this is not the case. I start rotating on 137 knts as stated but the plane lifts off generally around 165 knts and it wont be a smooth take off since in order to catch the reference figures I sometimes try to push harder on the stick giving me 12 - 15 degrees of pitch as soon as I takeoff. (t/o trim is enabled btw) Do I have to neglect this table and advance to 160knts and then try to rotate slowly or do you guys achieve the takeoff reference table speeds?

Dear Marder, I live in Turkey and I would like to have your saitek rudder pedals if possible? I would be very glad. Regards.
