  1. Well guys! Some tidbits about me - I'm deaf but I do use headphones - I can hear approximately 80dB and higher. I do alright with environment sounds but not with vocals which is okay as I can hear the lock on warning and amongst some other stuff. And guys, please don't apologize for the fact that I'm deaf and if you are curious about how I handle some stuffs, just go ahead and ask - I don't bite nor do I get offended by such questions. My first flight simulator probably were I think it was Jane's Longbow AH64D or something like that, I remember vividly that it had gold borders on it. Even though I am more of a FPS player, I enjoy flying and I have LOMAC / Flaming Cliffs / DCS A10-C and MS FSX. I don't have much experience with ED's games as they're quite difficult to pick up in a short frame of time but I enjoy it nonetheless. I look forward to learn from the more experienced ones around here and I hope to contribute back to the community eventually. :pilotfly: I'll look forward to flying with some of you guys whenever I'm good enough to fly safely and man them switches / configurations / buttons / throttles / and buncha of button mashing just good enough to kill a tank. :joystick:
  2. Nice! What did you have before?
  3. Quite a fall can be dangerous to your health... Yeah as if that was what happened :megalol:
  4. Frostiken, Indeed Steam is a "DRM'd" platform but it's far hellva better than Starforce and even in this case it doesn't matters because Starforce's still being used. Only pro in not going with Steam is that you can sell your game down the road if you choose to whereas with Steam, you cannot as it's permanently part of your catalog. As I've stated earlier - it's more of a preference at this point beyond anything.
  5. I have the steam version myself and comparing it the LOMAC which I have boxed. The general gist of the whole thing = "no difference" in itself and as a whole. Personally I prefer Steam - Almost all of my game collection are from Steam. I like not having to worry about patching and stuff - alternatively if I lose the discs and such I don't have to worry about that with the Steam delivered games. Though - Steam's Overlay won't work in the game because the game's 64bit and Steam's 32bit. Beyond that if you are not planning to chat with friends or whatnot using the overlay while flying, you will not miss out on anything. And if you are expecting - you've been notified. At this point, I suppose it's a preference.
  6. I would guess - check and ensure that you're in the correct mode, there are three modes, 1, 2 and 3. Uh, don't mind me if I'm wrong - I'm rather new to this too and I'm trying to get my profile to work too :) So far I'm not sure if it's working or not, I need to find a simple test. I've loaded the profile into the SST and then launch the game and it seems to me as if it's not working in game. Well - we'll figure it out with the help of the great people around here on the forum. :helpsmilie:
  7. From other member earlier in this thread. * start > run > type services.msc > enter * find 'Saitek Direct Output' > enter properties * Change startup to disabled And also be sure to stop the service if it's already "running"
  8. Alright - I've checked out the zoom function in the game, I think I'll rather to keep it in addition to the TrackIR I'm using, they work together beautifully. As for the Gun / PAC, I went ahead and guessed which ones you meant. I'm not still sure if ones I've selected were correct or not - I will await your reply. I'm having fun doing the trainings.
  9. Hey StrongHarm, This will be my first post here and I wanted to thank you for creating the profile for X52 Pro. With no doubt this will help me get in the game and thankfully I have TrackIR 5. I have couple of questions for you though regarding configuring the PAC / Fire Guns and the Zoom View buttons. Before you ask, yes I have removed everything under Sim All / All commands for the X52 section. Since I have TrackIR 5, what would you recommend that I use the zoom portion for instead of zoom? For the PAC, there are three listed PAC's in the control configuration. Which one do you want me to assign? Similar to the PAC question, for Fire Guns, there are two Gun commands, which one should I select? Beyond that I'll need to figure out how to load the profile of yours, doesn't seems that I could do it via the game nor the SST thing. I must be missing something and yes I've moved the profile file to the local folder for the saitek. Your assistance in this would be much appreciated and I'm looking to fly soon as I've got these pesky start up procedures memorized :)
