Help with Logitech Attack 3 Joystick
Zoltar replied to Zoltar's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Very informative article about joystick profiles Hi All, I found the article below extremely useful in understanding various joystick issues and configuring it for Lock on as well as FC. Just worked wonders for me. Thought it will be good to share. http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=60213 Cheers, Zoltar. -
Hi All ! I have Logitech Attack 3 joystick. It works well most of the time. But i am not able to roll back to wings level correctly, always the wings are offset by 1 to 2 deg. from the perfect horrizontal. This is very painful while bombing or straffing as the lining up with column or target is very crucial. I feel that this behaviour is because, the JS is never cnetered on the "." i.e. the "+" sign never matches with "." in the LO options for input. Is this the reason? Has anyone successful in configuring logitech attack 3? I have already visited logitech website and downloaded the profile and other tips. Nothing worked, the "+" and "." never match in LO. Please help :helpsmilie: Regards.

Thanks S77th-GOYA. Yes the half flap "F" key works well in both during Take off and slowing down before hitting ILS.

Hi guys, I have couple of quick questions. 1. When I land the A-10, irrespective of my speed and whether I am above or below or on glide path or AOA :surrender: Extending flaps to full lenght i.e SHIFT + F doesn't work. Any suggestions?? :shocking: 2. When i hit CTRL + F1 for natural head movement, the view freezes to the center of HUD with default zoom level. I can't move the head at all  Your help will be appreciated. Thanks. :pilotfly:

I do use the "H" key to hold altitude while landing and glide down the path by gradually reducing the throttle. This helps me concentrate on other things like speed and line up with the runway. Once i am @ 10 mtr above ground and @ 10 mtrs approx. from runway threshhold, i disengage altitude hold i.e hit "H" key again. I observed that the aircraft is well trimmed now due to "H" and just applying a little bit of forward or back ward pressure on joystick depending upon the AOA indicated. Cheers.

Thanks guys for the help. I have been able to start the aircraft and the tachometer needles do work properly, once i hit SHIFT + L before spooling the engines. I ran into another issue. I have built a mission for A-10 for navigation earlier and just replaced A-10 with SU-25 for the heck of it. The distance to first and second waypoint is shown correctly by the nav computer, but when i approach ILS it shows the dist. to way point 445 KM !! :shocking: I tried hitting ~ to toggle various ILS, but the result varies in the range of 400 to 450 KM. The same mission works fine with A-10 and F-15 C. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi All, I have upgraded to 1.12 patch recently and i am noticing a strange behaviour. I don't know if this was there prior to 1.12 pathc. When i hit "Alt + home" key to start the left engine, tachometer needles don't move at all. I hear a loud thunk after a few seconds, similar to lowring under carriage or flaps. After that i can here the noise of engine raising from smll humming to a screem but still the needles are motionless  I then hit "Shift + Home" for right engine and the result is same. Also sometimes the a/c doesn't come to a grinding halft after hitting "W" key and holding it. All these things happen with SU -25. Any suggestions? :helpsmilie: Thanks.

Help with straffing using A-10 cannons
Zoltar replied to Zoltar's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks Guys. After some more practice i am able to line up (fairly) with the remaining of the target. I have developed a pattern. This is based on the "Run in and Break" landing track posted by Chriss Warren on Ironhand's site. Attached is the pattern schematic. Please suggest improvements if any. Thanks. -
Help with straffing using A-10 cannons
Zoltar replied to Zoltar's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks Ironhand and NotiA10. The tracks made by you are very impressive and informative. Only thing I am not able to get properly yet is lining up with the column. I make a pass over the column score 2 - 3 hits and break away. I generally loose the column especially playing Ironhands track. Do you guys remember the heading or something like that to again line up properly? Please let me know. Thanks. -
Help with straffing using A-10 cannons
Zoltar replied to Zoltar's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hi guys. Your advice is invaluable. Thanks for sharing! I thank you Ironhand for the track. NotiA10 can you send me your track on following email niranjan.marathe@gmail.com Thanks. -
Hi Guys..I am trying to graduate on A-10. I have figured out landing and trimming. Now giving shot to straffing with GAU cannon. But i am not getting it. Here is what happens. 1. I begin to dive towords the APA convoy standing on the road from @ 3500 m. 2. I zoom in the HUD so that i can see things big and aim the piper properly. 3. I try to put the piper on the left most vehicle as i am approching the target at 90 deg. 4. I then pull up and right so that i have a swipe across the convoy. The problem is simple. I can't perform steps 3 and 4 as the A-10 attitude is not stable in dive. The piper keeps wobbling up and down and i miss the range. I can't trim as it takes some time to trim the a/c and not possible in dive. (my guess  might be wrong). If you guys want i can post a track for the same. Please help. Thanks Thanks.

I got it !!!! Thanks a lot guys. With the help of your valuable advice and a weekend full of trimming :joystick: I finally got it. Now i fly almost level at any speed and altitude. Thanks again and I will soon posting some more problems. :D

I forgot to mention that I have set a little dead zone for pitch axis, with no shift and 50% curve. And when i test the pitch, the "+" and the "." never coincide. Always there is a small not matter how much, but delta between the two signs in the test panel for axes. Does this has to do anything with trimming issue? I am just curious.

Hi, I am working with A-10 right now. I have gone through the navigation and landing video for the same. Also to best of my knowledge i havn't seen any procedure for trimming in the manual. But then i am bad at reading manuals. If you can point out where the procedure is given please let me know i will go through it. thanks.

Hi Guys, This forum is amazing. Encouraged by the replies i got from you guys for my landing issue, i have decided to get all my problems fixed with the help of you guys. I hope you will not let me down Here is my issue with trimming. 1. I take off with a pitch attitude of say 10 deg climb to desire altitude by holding the stick back. So far so good. 2. I slowly bring the stick back to neutral and the FPM is now at 0-------0 line, but momentarily. 3. FPM starts dipping downwards, perfect for trimming a/c for upward pitch. I trim the a/c with couple of tabs on the button for trimming on my stick. FPM starts climbing to words 0 deg. line I am happy. 4. Problem starts when FPM doesn't stop at 0 deg, it keeps on climbing. I trim a/c down and now i am in scenario # 3   Aircraft keeps wobbling like this. 5. Things get more nastry if i try to controll the pitch with stick after the above steps. I use logitech attack 3 joystick. I have download the profile provided by logitech for this stick for lock on and use it. Please help. Regards.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your help. Finally I managed to land 10 times consecutively without crashing. :smartass: Though i still don't center the runway everytime...:P. Once again thanks for your help. I can't explain how much fun it is to land and come out live. Regards. :pilotfly:

Guys, please try the link couple of times. I observed it worked for second time. Thanks.

Let me put the earlier question in a different way. Lets say i need to dive by say 2 - 3 degrees to put the FPM on the beginning of the runway. All is set. I then ease on the joystick and let it come on the neutral position. The moment I do this the a/c starts pitching up. I then reduce the throttle to bring the FPM back on beginning of runway and this time the a/c dips and I have to again increase or pull the a/c to keep FPM on track. While doing all this I lose track of ILS bars or the flaps or the air brakes. Can this be a problem with my joystick or have i not correctly configured my joystick? Please advice. Thanks.

Thanks GGThoras. Can you give me some tips on maintaining the steady descend rate without wobbling up and down or swaying side ways?
-
Thanks guys. I have upgrade to Flaming Cliffs and using Logitech Attack 3 Joystick. I have gone through the A-10 Navigation and Landing tutorial, and trying to play the same. The biggest problem i face is when i line up either i am too close to runway to and way above glide path or if i am right glide path but not lined up. I know the theory by heart and been practicing the same for a year now. But still i have not able to master it, so thought that i am doing something basic wrong. I can join some online community or playing group to learn these things by some vetran. Thanks.

Hi Guys I purchased lock-on around 1 year back. I figured out everything, except landings :cry_2: Now after spending around a year with the sim, i figured out that my landings are not good because 1. I can't control the a/c pitch properly. 2. I can't make best use of the various views for looking at the airspeed, HSI, thrust and flaps etc. during my approach or IAF. Otherwise i maintain pitch by holding altitude (Alt + H). Can some one send me a nice track/tutorial for improving on these points? Its painful to crash after successful missions. Thanks, Niranjan
