I was just wondering if I was reading it wrong or if they were reversed for some particular reason.

Thanks for these guides, they have been a huge help! I have a question regarding the controls setup in the guides. How am I supposed to read the directions (up, down, left, right)? For example, if I look at the speedbrake binding on the throttle, according to chuck's guides left/aft is supposed to be bound to retract and -> right/forward is supposed to be extend speedbrake. But in reality it's generally the other way around (aft/left is extend, forward/right is retract) from my understanding.

I've played the how to take of and blow stuff up tutorial mission and I can handle that one now. Which other missions (built in or third party) are good for practicing? I started doing the missions in the game but I find it to be really hard to spot the enemies on the ground.
