  1. I have been following "the conversation" in this thread and keep reminding myself that a lot of intelligent and talented people rub shoulders around here ( and in some cases the opposite as well), i just wanted to butt in and say thanks to all those here and keep it up, i love what is to be learned and what there is to know. I rekon DCS is a great sim, i have flown most sims on desktop since the commodore 64 and have got to say that they all have flaws, but DCS gets on with it and gets the job done. Thanks all.

  2. Ive been looking thru the forum and dont see any related posts, My mission is this: i have set up 6 ADF beacons and 6 FM homing locations for a Navigation Exercise mission for the Huey and i want to limit the FM and ADH Beacons to timed transmissions sending a "tactically realistic" burst morse signal eg. ( In reality if you were going to pick up troops in a tactical setting the signal would be timed and limited to a short burst or when a pilot asks for it), so far i have the signals running continuous , but i would like to run them on a short intermittent burst, Any suggestions please?

  3. Its all about economics, you get what you pay for, the more tech advanced you have eg faster frame rate etc etc , but having said that you can find good TV for good prices. I prefer one big TV rather than multi monitors (using less resolution = less resources being used), used in conjunction with Track IR the "immersion" is fantastic. I got a 42 inch LG LED/LCD and its great. Here a link to my setup.

    Best regards.

  5. On the contrary, you'll find the C Company 229th guys online at least 3-4 nights per week (A Coy is mostly US, B Coy is Europe, C Coy is AU / NZ) and we're constantly flying the UH-1 in co-op multiplayer. Anybody is welcome to join our Teamspeak server and come fly with us --> 229th

Not trying to talk over you Highway, but lets say "Anybody - who is mature" are welcome

  6. As a reference if the 7.62mm standard rimless Nato rounds used by the mini guns have been modeled correctly the tracer burnout is aprox 1100 meters, that doesnt mean the rounds are not effective over that range, it just means that it is hard to see their fall of shot, the max range this round is capable to being used at is about 2000 meters in the Sustained Fire Machine Gun (SFMG) role, the gun is mounted on a tripod and uses a C2 sight or something similar depending on the army. This classifies the gun in this role as a HMG.

  7. As most who have posted here have found out that the Huey is vulnerable to effective ground fire which is most definitely the case. From the Australian perspective "Huey's" were never intended as gun ships, mainly used in the fire support role they were intentionally named "Light Fire Teams" LFT's, usually providing fire support for Infantry operations , air insertions and Slick protection, they aren't gunships in the sense of todays attack helicopters. Reference this link as an example : http://www.navy.gov.au/history/squadron-histories/ran-detachment-9-squadron-vietnam-history

The US also used Cobra's as LFT's teams reference here as an example :

Most probably the first used term of "Gunships' was used by these guys :
