Same here. More fun, less wiggly IMO. I have always felt that making a FM highly realistic while flying on a PC is a detriment to fun. In a plane you feel so much stuff and naturally just adjust. Like I drive tractor trailer for living and the amount of steering movement is crazy compared to the truck simulator game. You are thrown around all day long to the point of my first day I stepped out of truck after 11 hrs and felt like someone hit me with a bat all over my body. You cant do that in a PC game and so truck simulator is super stable and just tracks straight ahead always. Potholes have sent me careening towards walls at 65mph and if your not ready you will slam but as I said the body just reacts cause of the physicality of it. And I posted about getting a slip indicator onscreen as we can feel slip in our butts when flying but now I just use the rudder assistance and it centers the ball fairly well. That said we are entering a new sim era with flight FFB peripherals about to become common for all. Having FFB will give us some feel and the realistic flight models shine that way. great to watch videos of DCS with FFB sticks.

Kool, thanks for heads up Art-J. I figured out the canopy bug was fixed but was unsure about the ram air one.

D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\P-51D Superb! Yes above like 220 or so and visually you see the canopy start to slow down speed. Thanks for heads up

Using notepad++ it shows that the canopy fix you linked is not needed as it has same changes already made to the default.lua. But I still cant open or close the canopy, either by buttons or using the mouse wheel or the crank itself.

Hoss, you amazing human you Could I ask for one more thing.....to copy and paste your P51 views.lua here? Still no to having a working canopy. I dont understand how this is an issue from 2021 and not fixed but even with the fix you linked for the canopy its still doesnt move.

Would a kind soul here help me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled DCS now twice in past day. Two reasons for that with first is I am missing views.lua file for P51. Second reason is that I cant open the canopy in the P51, either by keybinds or with mouse on the crank and turning the wheel. Whats weird is that the canopy works after each install for one flight and then once again stops working. And the views.lua file is weird also in that I have a views.lua file in all my planes except for the P51. So if any kind soul can help me here its quite simple. Go into D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\P-51D and open the views.lua file and copy the contents and then paste it here in forum. I can then copy it and paste into a views.lua file I make.

Anyone have a clue why.....I fly P51 mainly and find its missing the views.lua file while every other plane I own has it in correct folder. I already tried a verify integrity and all is normal. Also, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall to fix the canopy not opening or closing when using both keybind or using mouse wheel on the canopy crank. Reinstall fixed the canopy but on second flight the bug is back and I cant open the canopy. Any clue?

Possible to get a slip indicator on screen hud indicator?
wolfstriked replied to wolfstriked's topic in Wish List
I can definitely feel when the plane is slipping by what you say and know what you mean. Thanks for the tip about the K14. An indicator is just for times when your heads up or down and cant see the gunsight but I doubt it will ever be added. -

That sounds interesting but I don't have a steam deck sadly. I was also thinking that maybe it could be tied in with the crosshair so that when you are uncoordinated the sight is off to the side slightly BUT with stuff like the K-14 crosshair moving all around in hud that is not possible. Sadly this most likely will remain an unfulfilled wish on the list. -
Is this something that people who fly warbirds think would help them? I find it a bit hard to need to zoom out far enough or look down with head tracker so you also see the slip indicator. If you zoom in say when doing a ground attack the slip indicator will be impossible to see. In real life with its much larger fov the slip indicator is pretty much easily in view all the time. More importantly in real life we get the seat of the pants feel. I was watching a video where instructor tells student to close eyes and then does coordinated and uncoordinated maneuvers and asks is plane slipping or not and the student can tell exactly where the ball is by seat of the pants. We dont have this in a sim so I think a ball indicator like we have with the controls indicator when you press SHIFT+ENTER keys and centered in bottom of screen would help out a good bit.

Brand new cockpit repaints are perfectly usable IMO though I prefer slightly used look myself. Planes made for war were built and put on the front lines so why would you not have brand new planes? Just saying that it did happen.

Mods folder inside of main install-reason
wolfstriked replied to wolfstriked's topic in Sim Research
Thank you. -
I was gonna install JGSME into DCS to start modding but noticed there is already a mods folders inside of main DCS install. Can someone inform me as to why this folder is there. Inside it has 3 folders called aircraft/tech/terrains. I am hesitant to install JGSME now as I don't wanna bork something important.
