  1. Just a little update!
  2. Update! Hey all, I haven't really been on the forums but I thought I'd update this thread in case anyone uses it for reference. As I got into the very difficult task of aerial refueling I found I was having all sorts of over control issues stemming from myself, but aided by my weak base for the joystick. Enter The Great Base. 22" long, 10" wide, and much more stable. A little difficult to climb in around, but doesn't interfere with game play. Added four LEDs to light up the keyboard for flying in the dark. Powered off of the USB power in the keyboard. I've also got Helios running on my data monitor, great for shooting IFR approaches. Next step is to get some actual seat foam for the seat back.
  3. Looking good!! Keep up the hard work, I can't wait to see more developments!
  4. How to get the latest update my question also, thanks for the answers everybody. One quick question: If I am going to get rid of steam, is there anything else I need to make a copy of / back up besides my serial number and .lua file?
  5. Very cool! The stick mount is well done, and the panels look awesome!
  6. I wasn't a believer at first in the Track IR, but now I can't fly without it. Not only is the Warthog plug and play (minus the comments above) but the Thrust master Cougar MFDs are also. You can just use them as stand alone frames for pushing buttons and it makes a world of difference.
  7. Thanks guys! Your cockpit build is what sparked my interest in building one! I downloaded Helios yesterday, and I noticed you were in Columbus. I'll definitely have to take you up on that offer, and I'd be more than happy to invite you over to the cockpit!
  8. Thanks guys! Thanks for the link Airdog.
  9. When coming off the runway, there is a few A10s parked off to the left, and one off to the right (with a fuel truck next to it). I parked on the runway side of the single A10, and just sat for a minute on the brakes. Then I received shut down instructions. Whether or not this is right, I have no idea. :)
  10. Hey all, This is my first post to the forum! This is the quick story behind my cockpit. One of my fathers friends loaned us his TM Warthog a couple weeks ago, and after sitting it on my desk I realized that just wasn't going to do it for me. I was greatly inspired by the numerous awesome cockpits in this forum, and decided to start building a cockpit with whatever wood we laying around the basement. The seat is suppose to be similar to a ACES II, I went off some diagrams and drawing I found for the rough outline. It has lumbar support, and I'm planning to replace the pillow with some sort of seat foam. From there, things just expanded. The 2x4 that the keyboard and mouse are mounted on, is able to swing open to allow easier access. That was a feature requested by my dad. The sub-woofer under the seat is pretty awesome when you start firing the 30mm. I realized my personal computer which I built 3 years ago, wasn't going to be up to the task of running the game, which is when we built the system dedicated to the sim now (specs listed in signature). I'm hoping to add some gauges to the 19", like the engine gauges and the primary flight instruments. And then more down the road I'd like to add functional panels.
