Thanks peachmonkey, looking very nice. I've meant to say that I don't have DCS installed at the moment, that's why I'd asked for the screens. Regarding your original post, as I'm curious, what bumping up did you mean? Does the updated cockpit by Jenkem Junkie hit the spot, or what else would it need in your opinion to match e.g. the Mosquito in texture quality? Again sorry if I'm asking something obvious, but as I don't currently have the game I can't see this for myself.

I remade my old English one from scratch and it's much better now. The textures are what they are, but the lack of definition is less noticeable if you darken the cockpit.

I'll have a original German one available soon.

Could you kindly post some pictures of your updated D9 cockpit here (don't have currently installed to check for myself)?

    Many thanks in advance!

  3. Hallo zusammen,

    - Revisiting Dora 9 2014

    - Flying Legends 2014

    - Flying Legends 2019

    - Switzerland visit 2019

    - Messerschmitt Museum bei Airbus in Manching/Bayern 2019

    - Spitfire Flug beim Heritage Hangar in Biggin Hill 2019

    - Messerschmitt Flug beim Hangar 10 Fly-In in Heringsdorf 2019

  4. Hi all,

my friend Erich Brunotte asked me to set up a Youtube channel for him where he can share pictures and videos with people interested in him and his experiences.

I'm happy to announce it here for you:

The first video is a photo compilation of activities and friends taken since 2014, including from:

    - Revisiting Dora 9 2014

    - Flying Legends 2014

    - Flying Legends 2019

    - Switzerland visit 2019

    - Messerschmitt Museum at Airbus in Manching/Bavaria 2019

    - Spitfire flight at Heritage Hangar Biggin Hill 2019

    - Messerschmitt flight at Hangar 10 Fly In at Heringsdorf 2019

For those interested in aviation history there's a little surprise at the end of the slideshow.

Erich is happy to receive questions (in English or German) from viewers in the commentary section of his Youtube channel, as he expressed in his short letter in the video's description. I'll collect those questions and pass on to him, hopefully we'll find a fitting format for distributing his answers. I'll do so as my time permits, may I ask for a little patience in advance.

Please note that while I'm helping Erich with the channel, it's ultimately his and decisions regarding the channel and content are his and not mine.

One more thing. Erich regularly receives postal letters or packages at his home address from people asking for pictures, signatures or information. He'll only answer those that include appropriately stamped and addressed return envelopes, and which cover his costs (if any). It may also take some time. For questions the Youtube channel is much better.

Hopefully you'll get to enjoy the opportunity to be in touch with one of the few remaining Luftwaffe fighter pilots through his channel.

    See you there!

  5. Yes, it works as it should (as far as I can tell at least).

The reticule image is at infinity so appears in the right place regardless of your head movements, and you can use either eye (as long as you move so that the reticule is in the area of the sight).

And as I've now noted above, now that I've tried Teo's tip for the BF109 it doesn't move your viewpoint around when you flip the gunsight up any more.

    Thanks, good to know!

  6. I’d be interested to know how using the gunsight in VR works in DCS (don’t have so can’t try). In reality, there was no need to lean towards the gunsight as it would appear in the center anyway, even if only the right eye would see it (LW pilot Erich Brunotte told me this), due to stereoscopic vision. It would seem logical to me this would work the same way in VR. Does it?

  7. What about that livery then? Nobody answered that question. :)

They were shown at the end of the interview - Weisse 6 for Erich Brunotte's plane and Weisse 11 for Heinz Marquardt's. Don't know whether or not it's planned to release them with the product, or if the skin artist would make them available himself. Hopefully ED can answer.

  8. Just a brief feedback from Erich after watching the first part of the 'Revisiting Dora 9' trilogy: he absolutely loved it and is amazed how with this video people around the world have taken an interest in his knowledge and experience, which he is very happy to share. He thanks all those who have thanked or greeted him in the various comments sections on youtube or forums, and is sending his best regards.

He's now eagerly awaiting the coming parts.

  9. I've got all the DCS modules and it works fine for all of them, including the prop planes.

It's a little strange using it with helos, simply because you can't displace the stick where you know it needs to be to lift off the ground into a hover; but again you just get used to it.

If I remember, I'll post a track tomorrow to give you an idea how precise it is.

    Sounds good - thanks!

  10. You won't lose TARGET functionality if you don't want to; the R3 is a very cleaver bit of kit.

    You can either:

    1) Plug it straight in using the supplied USB lead.

    2) Turn over the existing Wathog stick and remove the PCB from the base, with attached USB lead, and transplant into the R3 base.

Option 2 allows the stick to be recognised the same as before, so no controls reconfiguring required, and TARGET will work. The only downside is only Option 1 allows for on the fly changing of control forces etc, but this isn't essential.

It takes some getting used to, but I can't over emphasise how precise it is. It's really excellent.

A quick question - are you using it with DCS prop planes? If yes, how's that working out for you?

  11. Will this be toggle-able or just a hard coded implementation? I think users should be able to choose what they want to do in this matter. Not be forced to use it.

I agree, and would think this would become user switchable (as the pre-sets already are now) - best send an email with your support for the functionality with this remark to Realsimulator.
