  1. Yes reading these threads... http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=3150&page=1 http://www.free-track.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2102 .. and many similar in the ED Forums, including one of my own as this is a sort of continuation of it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=85637 So I'm using BS 1.02 with FreeTrack v2.2 and PS3 Eye on XP 32bit which work like a charm - EXCEPT for what all this was intended for, to be used as ir-tracking in the BS game! TrackIRFixer v1.3.0.20 doesn't work either. Don't know if something happened the first time I ran it. There were 3 pop-ups after each other asking for a name - I named one and closed the others. Probably not that significant, but anyway... Understanding from what’s been said on most forums it’s hardly the issue. I've run it in [..\Ka-50\bin\x86\stable] where it finds the file but without any change. The controls in game shows the TrackIR and some pre-mappings (overall view axis something). I've NOT replaced any newimput.dll and have basically default settings in FreeTrack (still learning). So is there a fix for this or is this still a ridicules debate about TrackIR monopoly? Obviously, some people got it to work judging from my previuos thread so right now I'm more than curious!
  2. All flash and no fury!:lol::lol: !
  3. OR maybe not.. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/en_US/pd/productID.244210600
  4. Was this what you meant? http://www.newbiesinc.com/2011/11/07/kinect-for-pc-release-date-confirmed/ I don't even know what Kinect is (!) I somewhat came across it reading about the PS3 Eye, wondering if you also need this (!?); http://codelaboratories.com/downloads/ for the camera). But if it means lowering the price I'm all in! :)
  5. Thanks! The model dimensions will surly come in handy ! Otherwise, I'm trying to avoid solutions involving too much fiddeling about, however I've seen some similar things on other cameras reading the FreeTrack forum and as I understand it you do not necessarily need to remove the filter. It would suffice with just covering the camera with exposed film or likwise. Others, like above, seems satisfied as is, without any tampering, which perhaps is due to factors like the amout of light where you play. In any case, I'm very thankful for the information! :pilotfly:
  6. Well, if find one and the price is right I'll bare it in mind! Interesting and informative article too. I'm not all that technical so I can't argue any details but the company sure seem to have it's way with numbers. Nice to know about the limitations as well - or that you need to call your girlfried if (or rather when) the Clip thing brakes!:lol::lol::lol:!!! http://www.2gvsap.org/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2716 !
  7. Definitely promesing! Will look into it! :pilotfly:!
  8. Well "just" a free alternative is perhaps a little bold to say, http://www.free-track.net/english/ , but I'm glad you're happy with the deal. However, as I also understand the TrackIR 4 differ from the 5 quite a lot, which also in terms of price was what I was referring to. So of coarse, second hand is not to bad either - if you can find one! http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/trackir-product-comparison.html 75 USD is still money and a new TrackClip with webcam (if it works, which it seems) most certainly presents a tempting alternative!
  9. Sounds VERY interesting indeed! !! Will have to look into that! Just out of curiosity, does the PS3Eye and The Clipp need to be connected in some way? Or do they just work fine on separate USB:s and all? (Looking at pictures doesn't reveal much).
  10. First thanks for your time and answer, and sorry if I was a bit hasty. I guess you also somewhat figured out I use BS 1.0.2 and no, I'm not leaving the runway as the goal being to trim to a hover. I guess that could have been made more clear too. As for any units in the track I until previously couldn't get any external view (F2) without at least one friendly unit in a player mission. Don't know why this was, perhaps an accidentally pressed button or a temporary bug somewhere (hoping not start a different topic). In any case, the mission is simply and old legacy. I otherwise like having external views, at least for the replays, while I'm currently learning. Now, for your convenience I've removed that single unit and also done a shorter, flight off the runway. Regarding trim-method it's a "no CPTM" (that's unticked, empty box), which to my experience, having tried both ways, so far haven't impressed me with a difference. And as for frequent trimming; if I do that trying to hover the chopper basically goes head over heals. So if it doesn't "necessarily trim from attitude A to attitude B" as you say; how does it trim? No matter the attitude extent, I seem to bump all the same! And lastly; no TrackIR/FreeTrack or pedals. A TMHotas Flight X with NO (!) tweaks on the Axis Tunes or Slider, all default. WinXP, i5, 4GB RAm, some NVidia 1MB Card, "GTX" something. This said, it might very well be that I've misunderstood the way trim is supposed to be used but can't say the manual or training vids have been that fulfilling on the topic either (BS1 at least). The forum better there. TrimTrouble!.trk
  11. Yes, I know you've heard it before but is just me or has this chopper entered a bump mode?! According to the forum some have it, other don't so I'm dropping a track, LAlt+Enter included. Anyway, sorry if it's bit slow but I'm really trying to understand the cause of this bump thing! :helpsmilie: TrimProblems!!!.trk
  12. Yes, some of the buttons had been remapped due to some misconfiguration but it's working now. Well, still a bit jerky but it will have to do.
  13. That being "last time I (thought I) tried" the settings as you desribed it, in cockpit view. Just for clarification (I hope :)!)
  14. Yes, thanks, only I'm not using the "cockpit view" as I understand it. It's just "view" or "camera view" (still the numpad but referring to different sections in the key manual) to which this doesn't seem to apply (or maybe it does?). I've not fully understand the different "view" so I'll look into it some more but last time I (thought I) tried it didn't seem to change any pan-speed though.
  15. Looking into TrackIR and FreeTrack; wouldn't it be possibile to use just the TrackClip Pro with a webcam and the FreeTrack software? Or some sort of easier modification of it/ the two? Or I'm I just spinning? At least in my country the Clip is sold sepparately; http://www.flightsimshop.se/product_info.php?products_id=181 369 SEK (55.46 USD) The TrackIR is way too pricy and I'm nowhere near the handy type. An electrical hazard more likely. And as I still would have to buy bascially everything (tools; solder iron set, pliers etc - and adding the webcam) the price will not stay on a few dollars - or kronor in my case :smartass:!. (Still beeing cheaper than the big thing though). My expectation was that even if you probably would need to do some additional work on it still would come out as nice compremise - possibly?:joystick:!
  16. Thanks, but I think I wrote "except for the mouse" which means beside the mouse. Sorry if I was vague in my discription. (You ussally can control the speed of the mouse with your hand anyway). I'm looking for a way to slow down the movement of the POW-hat (unless this works like a switch or something!).
  17. Been looking through the forum and can't quite find something that addresses my ehum.. "problem". Well, with reservation to or other common approaches (padlock, snapview memory); is there a way to change the pan-speed of the numpad keys view in either "view.lua" or "snapview.lua" using Notepad++? I currently viewing around in cockpit this way (except for the mouse), using the POW-Hat, and when zoomed out it's to fast and jerky for my taste. Zooming in for an slower speed is fine but I most often have the cockpit out-zoomed and find it somewhat circumstantial to zoom in just to get a convenient pan-speed. Then again I get the feeling these view buttons wasn't meant for the cockpit  (?). Anyway.. Some nice parameters to tweak? Or something...
  18. Rotor Pitch Indicator As others here, I find trimming hard to work in relation to hovering. Beside what's been advised, one other thing i find useful is the RPI (Rotor Pitch Indicator), which to my resentment is placed to low in the cockpit! When untrimmed the front wheel usually leaves the ground when RPI goes over 5 degrees (no load, no wind, no ff, B/H/P stabilized). Keeping the cyclic slightly forward with full brakes, to compensate any "remaining" tail-bump, I increase RPI (collective) to around 7 degrees for lift-off and engage Alt hold at 10 meters for a near hover. I then trim before entering auto-hover (disengaging Alt-hold). Now, I still find the trimming the problem as it "messes up" the autopilot with the "bumps", sometimes even HDG-hold. In most cases not much but noticeable enough. I've also try to trim in auto-hover but it mostly bumps back again (or worse) when released. Keeping the trim "depressed" and then released might be a way as someone mentioned. I've also been looking into the "dead zone"! Well, referring to the axis tuning of the joystick! According to the manual it's suppose to facilitate trim with an average amount of around 10. I can't really say does. Someone ells tried? Is dead zone on the cyclic authentic for real helicopters?
  19. And I suppose so it is for many (or most) of us that upgrade. The "realism" somewhat being a driving factor. Then again I couldn't help picturing the engineers at Kamov: "Hey, maybe we should put the rudders as a twist on the cyclic next time!". I for one admire people that can fly BS with twist. Utterly it's about experience and fun in the game - realistic or not.
  20. I don't really see the issue. If using the "F65" (I suppose you meant X65F http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x65f.html) then the lack of twist in a pricy hotas system like that is quite obvious. Well, at least given the ambition of realism. But then you also get a whole lot of fancy buttons and dual throttle (if that's what you're after). On the - a lot - cheaper THFX you can chose whether you want to use twister or not as you can lock it and/or use the rocker on the throttle instead! Alternatively later go for the pedals. Regarding buttons you can always sacrifice one or two as modifiers doubling up the mapping. Dual throttle is then, unfortunately, a no go. Some people would argue "plastic" and "durability" but that's more a question on taste and style rather than function - search the forum and see your self. Junior has spoken!
  21. ....AND you can lock the twist in the handle with screwdriver if you don't like it!! (Yeah, sorry couldn't help it - I'm so full of my self...)
  22. Yeah, and I forgot to say thanks to! So thanks Noc - and others! And yes, I noticed from reading reading the forum X52 somewhat rules so a welcome point there. I personally find it hard that people recommend x52 to beginners, not only given the difference in price but also uncertain future commitment in difficult "games" (if I may so call it!) like this. But then again, if money is not en issue... Anyway, enough off topic! Back to PRACTICE! And thanks again!
  23. That should read http://www.generalaviationnews.com/2011/01/05/flightsafety-promotes-miguez/ And now as he's a real hot shot he won't even bother leaving a closing remark on this puny insignificant little post! People believe him to be dead and all...
  24. Yes, I found it! It's little, not to say tiny, black screw on the left-hand side of the main stick! It only needs one turn to lock the twist! Perfect! For other with this stick you could also read more here; http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/946816-il-2-sturmovik-birds-of-prey/51263632
  25. And I see; "rocker" I call slider. But ok, I like to have the pedals there anyway.
