  1. You certainly can take tire damage, I was performing a mission about 20 nm north of Batumi when I took AAA fire for a ZU-23 to both of my back struts, they can become damaged very easily due to the fact they are open to the environment unlike the front strut. In a situation like this it's a good idea to peform a belly landing, make sure to jettison your munitions before doing so. Come in with full flaps and full speed brake and don't forget to flare, it's not as exaggerated as a normal landing due to the fact you're not worried about putting all of the weight of the aircraft on the front strut since you're not landing on any but it does help decrease airspeed the last second which is good if you don't want to go flying across the runway. After you assist physics in making a controlled crash and you've come to a halt turn on your APU and APU Gen(so you dont lose electronics and have to re-cal your CDU and all that) kill engines and wait for repairs. Then start engines back up like normal. I've had many experiences with faulty landing gear, the worst is gear that wont retract or extract fully, then you have a real issue. Take it easy! -V1P3R
