  1. Hi Big Newy, but quite honestly I think DCS had trampled piracy underground for this sim and rightly so! I know some pikey mates who like flight some sims but they do not do DCS. I do think this current system is over harsh on genuine users and one or two modules I've seen some of my activations dissapear into the ether, Mig 21 I'm talking about especially as I did legitimate core game engine upgrades as was required. I've heard activations auto renew but I'm not seeing that and one day I fear through no fault of my own I'll lose my genuine purchases and ability to fly them should I have a PC crash, hardware change (nobody's going to keep track of those rules mate) or multitudes of reasons with my dual boot example being just one. Why all that complicated draconian fancy activation stuff if you have a secure and solid system? Honest question mate. Rise of Flight and the newer BOS/BOM sims seem to have no problem with piracy the developers boast, this whole activation de-activate, especially as the de-activate is hidden deep in the games folder is most off putting and its hardly user friendly or transparent. I can install ROF and BOS/BOM on same machine in dual boot twice and even my other PC and this goes for other games too, all Steam games actually. One of my long term DCS friends whom I ran this by for proof reading said they will ban you forever if I post this, hope that's not true? why would they do that? Its constructive criticism and I do love DCS after buying all but two aircraft modules now. Thanks.
  2. Yikes! Time Starforce was dropped then? because Starforce is wrong, its most definitely the same machine just using a different OS to use the sim at any one time. Hate red tape, LOL
  3. Assuming that's official? Thought that might be the case, not what I wanted to hear but thanks anyway. Another question though, on Windows 7 on same machine currently I have my DCS 2.0 Nevada beta and all my modules installed in it, what about installing DCS 1.5 on my Win10 partition install, would installing my same paid for modules work again without conflict? ... I did have DCS 1.5 alongside 2.0 on Win 7 for a while, un-installed DCS1.5 thinking on win 7 thinking DCS 2.0 gave me every theatre but it cant :( so now I need my DCS 1.5 back, if possible would like this on my Win 10 part as its the OS I'll likely end up using AS Win7 gets phased out. Thanks again.
  4. Serious question I have Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on own OS SSD and now Windows 10 pro 64 bit on its own separate OS SSD too, DCS v2 beta is currently installed on its own SSD from Win7 and I was wondering if that could be shared on my Win10 boot up? or if not could I just install DCS V2 on Win10 too on a different partition considering its still the exact same machine? To me it should make no difference, exact same hardware and exact same machine and no other is going to use the one sim at any time but me, but it would be helpful in my choice of best OS to use and benchmarking but I'd just like to check in first. Thanks.
  5. DCS Just a week or so ago I learned there was a new DCS world, or is there? I cant keep up. Heard it burns up my activations if I don't do it right. so fingers crossed. Yup, that's two more legit activations I bought up the spout, sure they have admitted a mistake again, but it looks like Hoops I've got to jump through again, to even get some basic problems solved. Seriously ... I'm on 30% ban warning now for a product I own, where I'm supposed to just shut up and put up as an awkward customer who just happens to pay their bills too. Just ban me and be done with it. Absolutely horrible company.
  6. This is my current flight sim rig. Intel I7- E 3960X (six core) @ 4.6 GHz. 16GB quad channel (four modules) ram. Nvidia GTX 680 2GB. Asus Rampage IV Extreme. Corsair H100, stock fans are horribly loud, replaced with two Corsair AF120 high airflow low noise ones. SSD's and WD Velociraptor's and other drives for bulk storage. Dell U3011 2560 x 1600 IPS LCD. Corsair HX1000 PSU.

  8. I bought a GTX 680 on day of release so a 2GB card ... damn my impatience :) I should have waited for the 4GB cards for my resolution, but in all honesty at 2560 x 1600 its mostly been fine, a 4GB card would handle this resolution better especially when I add second or third LCD's. Its a great card, PCI-E 3.0 ready, shorter than old GTX 570/580's, draws less power, runs cooler, runs more silent ... just a more refined more powerful GPU really. The guys are right, GTX 690's although a good choice for some games are not ideal, run hotter and louder, draw more power, need more case space ... but are still not as quick as two GTX 680's in true SLI if you really want to push the boat and hardly any quicker in most flight sims as most of them cant use SLI or Crossfire Acceleration anyway. EDIT: unless anything has changed in the way Nvidia do their dual GPU cards, a GTX 690 is not like two GTX 680's in SLI, its nowhere near it, the mem speeds and timing will be way down and so will the GPU speed too ... I think you would be very lucky if a single GTX 690 managed two 670 GPU's on board, probably less.
  9. Running a GTX680 2GB VRAM card here with a single Dell 2560 x 1600 LCD, no worrys
  10. Dodgy guitarist more like ... The edge indeed .... pffft
  11. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but were not the early adopters of the Beta A10C supposed to get this map for free? ... how long ago was that and its still not out? Give me one good reason why I should pay DCS any more money for unreleased products like DCS CA when they cant get their priority's right and change their mind at a heartbeat for more fruitful endeavours. Its not rocket science, don't bite off more than you can chew. Grrr from angry legit customer.
  12. Then I wont be buying. I'm happy with what I have. Thanks Tommy.
  13. It seems unclear hear, will there be a cheaper upgrade option from FC2 to to FC3? There was a lot of ambiguity the last Black Shark upgrade to BS2. Lets not see that happen again please. I only have a finite amount of money for this hobby. The Global economy is in recession. My personal finances are in recession. Even my thoughts on this hobby can be in recession, when the difference means doing this or putting food on a table for my family. Thanks.
  14. Thank you Luza too, have plenty of diskspace just now so will leave my original A10C and BS2 installs active for a while, so long as there are no complications with the new modules for them I'm downloading for DCS World. Never realised FC3 was so close, will I be able to get an upgrade for my current Flaming Cliffs 2 I wonder, or is it stand alone? Good advise, thank you too sir.
  15. Thank you very much, am currently downloading the new DCS A10C, BS2 modules, will leave my current installs until all activation is successful (right?) then I can delete the stand alone installs? I understand I'm a BS owner who bought the BS2 upgrade, thanks. If this is correct, can I then safely delete my archived (backed up) original downloads as all future installs will be through DCS World? then presumably archive the new downloads. Now that I'm grasping the concept (LOL) it is a much better idea, and the new downloads do indeed look much smaller. Thanks again, you have been great, once this is all working I'll go ahead and pre-order DCS CA.
  16. Wow, very quick and helpful reply ... So, I guess there is no need for my stand alone products now on my PC, right?, un-install them, download the new modules pertaining to my purchases and they will install in DCS World and launch from there? Sorry to bother you, just want to get it right  Thanks again.
  17. Hi all first post here, bit confused about this, hope someone can clarify. I have DCS A10C, Black Shark 2 and Flaming Cliffs, heard about DCS World that is I think meant to tie them all together in a unified way? so downloaded that as it was free, however, when I start DCS World it shows purchase marks besides what I've already bought, heard that after installing DCS World I need to un-install A10, BS2 ETC then install them again, surely not? That would mean losing an activation, or I could deactivate, but if this is what's needed (un-install each module) it seems a bit complex to me? I don't fancy the Mustang at this point, so the modules I do own are DCS A10C and KA50 but if I can get this working right will probably buy DCS CA. Or it could be I don't have a clue what I'm talking about or not read the manual :) Can anyone throw me a bone please :)
