I like to walk forward thank you. Walking backwards is not very practical. :) -

Not sure why so many choose to pretty much attack GGTharos as he is pretty much correct. Those that say he is lying and so on, it should be pretty easy for you to prove you are right, please simply do the following: Show us actual RuAF planes with R-77 or any of its spawns. -

Wow, this is nice and heated discussion. :D Fact is that the original R-77's were built in Ukraine. They built a certain amouth only (200 iirc) and biggest share went to India. If there are any original R-77's in Russia, then: 1: There is very very few of them. Eeeeven if they have them there is very few of them and they are terribly information and camera shy. 2: No planes til the recent modernization could use them, other than MiG-29S as pointed out. There was handful of those built, and only handful serve. With modernization and new planes (Su-27SM, SM3, Su-35S and so on) RVV-SD's has supposedly been ordered, but no real details are known. KTRV reports on contracts for foreign countries and type of weapons, but not in regards to Russian contracts. So: 1: Original R-77's are not used by RuAF. 2: If new R-77's has been ordered then: a - They are not delivered yet as there is no pictures of RuAF frames carrying them*. b - They are keeping them "secret". They could, but there is no point of doing that. Hence b is highly unlikely. *Of course Akhtubinsk is a story for itself. It is likely Su-35S'/Su-30SM' are testing them there. -

To be picky, MiG-1.44. We mortals haven't seen 1.42 yet. -
Some mix up with red/blue, but otherwise that is basically it. It is highly likely 76 became one of the others in the list, but i can't say which. That is why i had my number at 28. So about 20 "undocumented" BM's. (as in not on RP)

I had no idea Russia is in Columbia now. :) -
I suggest we stop the discussion about the MiG-31BM numbers. It is clear that he knew he was right based on nothing and thought he had nothing to prove. I still stand by my fool statement, and i think he is the one who should learn manners. When evidence came in (several times) he ignored it, stood on his own. Ironic he says "Next time, check the facts before start playing advocate.". IMHO better version would be: "Next time, i need to check the facts before opening my mouth." :) I will not comment this more in this thread. And thanks aaron886, glad to help. :) Foxhound has been one of my favorite planes for a long time. Wildly off topic now, but as shameless plug, there is 1/48 kit coming out for those that might be model builders: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.711803982169995.1073741829.436005436416519&type=1 I have seen more up to date CAD's and i can say it is very promising. :) Yes, BM can be built out of the box. :D In case of WW3, there will be nothing left to dominate for anyone other than cockroaches.

Answered your question in case you missed in between the fire fight. ;)

So, anyone still feel calling him a "fool" was over the top? I have a different expression cooking, inspired by The Wire, lets just say it ends with "bird".

I understood what you meant. The comments were not connected.

Well, i was basing my statement/claim on facts (again, i have picture of every "frame" i have on the list) i have collected for several years, while he was... eh... just saying there were under 12, no facts what so ever supporting the claim. Big difference there, but feel free to keep your bias. ;)

That picture is actually MiG-31M. M was soviet era program and was very heavily modified MiG-31. It is extremely different from vanilla or BM MiG-31, and it would be easier to list what is alike (would be a very short list) rather than what is different... It never went into production, but it still holds interesting record(s). ;) BM however is an update/modernization of the vanilla in service ones. Well, they have been updating MiG-31B, but they have run out of those now. I could go into detail about what is B and what is not and what will be updated now that they have run out of B's, but i won't bore you. :P It is pretty easy to spot difference between vanilla MiG-31 and BM, three major details: - New pylons. (able to carry R-73's now) - Triangle on front canopy - Long blade antenna on the underside There is also a tiny GPS antenna on the back. Cockpit has been updated along with the radar. To help visualise, look for the three main things i listed above. This is "vanilla" MiG-31: http://russianplanes.net/id119304 This is BM: http://russianplanes.net/id118864 HTH.

Ahem. I posted pictures showing 6 of them in one place at one single base, didn't i? (that had nothing to do with the base he identified btw) I posted link that has a total of 28 different BM frames, didnt i? All of them are here, feel free to check if my count is right: http://russianplanes.net/st/Mikoyan-Gurevich/MiG-31BM And you cannot be serious; Are you truly suggesting i should have posted a picture of every single BM i have in my list? Again, the link above easily proves there is over 12 BM's. I can be wrong, but i am pretty sure 28 > 12, so he lost there by default. There are plenty of frames that are not documented by RP.net link, but it sure as heck documents more than twice of 12.
-
Sigh, what is up with you people. As said, all the evidence for 12+ alone in the link i gave. What evidence did he give? None, what so ever. The ONLY thing he has provided is saying that there is 12, and that is it. Nothing to support it. I have done my part of proving. But fine, since one click is so damn hard, here is a list i made within 4 min (literally) from the link i gave: Red: 01 03 09 22 23 32 34 37 Blue: 10 16 60 91 92 93 94 95 592 Total: 17 Even if one removes 60 and 592 which are prototypes, that still leaves 15. Any questions? Free to check those numbers as every single one of them appears in the link i posted. And that is only 2.5 pages. The list will go on if one checks all the six pages, probably to around 25-30. Now, i have proven my part, now it is his turn to prove that there isn't 13 or 12.000001 frames, but 12 exactly or under 12. He did say after all:
-
Again, take a look at the link i gave you, stop being stubborn. I have evidence for 40+ BM's, and you have evidence for easily 12+ one click away in the link i gave you. What is YOUR evidence for only 12 BM's huh? What happens if there is 13? :)
-
As said, i won't give you the list for several reasons. One of which i have no interest of fueling your laziness. I gave you a link, you can easily create a list with over a dozen BM's. You think i have 340+ pictures of less than 12 frames? Well, continue to think so. And facepalm, that is not Savasleika. Continue being stubborn, you are only digging a deeper hole.
-
You have made fool out of yourself once, and i see you are determent to do it second time. I keep list of MiG-31BM's. For a frame to be added to the list, it needs to be documented with atleast one picture. I have over 340 pictures of BM's alone. Currently i have 25 blue borted MiG-31BM's and 21 red. So total of 46, and that is excluding one i know b/n of but don't have photo evidence for yet. Of out 2 or possibly 3 are MiG owned prototypes/development frames. No, i am not planning to share the list with you for several reasons. You are free to pick a number and a color and i will see if i have it. :) One frame, blue b/n 14 is badly documented, having only this picture that is not showing the bort number: http://russianplanes.net/id118652 I will repeat, every single one of those i have on the list are documented by atleast one picture. I believe b/n 14 is the only one i don't have clear picture of (aka showing b/n). So you are not only wrong, you are wrong by almost 4 fold. Not to mention i am sure there are some frames that are around that i simply have not documented. By simply going through here you will easily get over 12 MiG-31BM's: http://russianplanes.net/st/Mikoyan-Gurevich/MiG-31BM These two pictures shows half of your claimed number alone. And that is only one base: Then there are western spotter sites like airliners etc. Then there are Russian forums... Secondly, you must have lived under a rock if you think deliveries of BM's started only last year. That program has been around for a while. The contract is til 2018 if my memory doesn't fail me, and not til 2020. And as said there is some questions regarding the total and contracted number. Same way there is not an order for 92 Su-34's, but 124... For now.
-
Doesn't change the fact that they have, right now, over 40 of them. So they are close. The big question is engine and canopy production. PS: Not to mention the 60 number is debatable... it could be 90...
-
60>12 FYI. 60 so far doesn't mean 60 in total.
-
By far more.

S-350 will eventually replace S-300. Next up, S-500.

Ahem, it is even posted on this page, by you even. Repost of repost, of repost.
