  1. There is nothing stopping you from buying a module on Steam and using the CD Key you get from it on a non-Steam install. It works the other way around too (with exception to FC3, BS2 upgrade and the Mi-8, at least while Belsimtek keep it in beta). My A-10C came from Steam originaly. My Mi-8, CA and FC3 from ED themselves and my BS2 from Gamefly, all running on a non-Steam install. Search the forums, there dozens of topics about this and how to go about it.
  2. In Options, go to Special, it's labelled as Weapon Hints on the Mi-8 tab
  3. Haven't tried to myself, but it's my understanding that you are unable to install FC3 into the Steamaps directory because of the registries, or something along those lines. In my opinion, however, this isn't the biggest issue. If you could install it, how would you keep it up to date? the updates and modules in the Steam version of DCS:W are handled by steam itself, not a self-updater or Module Manager (Which might I add, is not included with Steam Version). I believe the only way to keep it updated would be to uninstall and reinstall for every update, and given that there are normally 3-4 patches within a month of a major update, the StarForce is going to interfere fairly quickly. My advice would be to just continue with the game and modules provided on the Eagle Dynamics website. As much as I want to use Steam, I'm happy with this arrangement:smilewink:
  4. I think Mi-8 is using the same parking spaces as large transport aircraft like the C-17 or IL-76. My guess is because of the larger rotor diameter compared to other helicopters like the KA-50 or UH-1.
  5. You could probably install it into the SteamAps directory. However not having run the installer for a while, I can't remember the processes too well. I have a feeling it would throw up an exception over DCS not being installed, since Steam handles Windows Registry a little differently. Updates would be a serious issue though. The Steam version of DCS:W does not come with the module manager, electing instead to use Steam to manage Modules (DLC) and updates. I would guess that you would need to uninstall and reinstall every time there is a patch. It wouldn't take very long for Starforce to interfere :noexpression:.
  6. Hey guys I've been having a bit of an issue with my first user created MP mission. From what I can deduce from playing the mission, it will work fine for about 10 minutes then will cause a CTD. This will happen in SP, MP (only the host will crash, tested as myself hosting and later with a friend) or direct from the mission editor, and it doesn't matter if (in SP) you play as game master, Ground Commander, A10C or SU-25. I've come from a background of making some fairly complex missions for ArmA2 and writing a few of my own scripts for missions, but after checking the crash logs I'm even more confused then when I first started!:helpsmilie: The logs seem to show the same errors in the same order, and the fact that it's only the host crashing in MP leads me to believe that it's a unit and/or movement order that is causing the problems, but without knowing more it's a little hard to fix the issue. :) Is there anyone who can read these crash log files and help me to understand what it means? Thanks OpCrusadeCrash.zip
