I think I'll probably end up printing the manual because it's too long to remember when you're first learning but you've all been fantastic.

i mean just changing skins. I I found a skin on the lock on skins site for the warthog.. it's just more detailed than the current one but i can' figure out how to put it in game

I'm going to bed soon but all I can say is... fantastic game. I'm not going to venture online for a while yet as I haven't mastered that much, and i'm still prone to getting shot down a lot.. eventually I'll crack it :) How do you switch targets though? The little diamond indicating your current target (not with weapon lock i mean) is always over what I don't want it to be... can someone help? err.. and one last thing.. I know skins are considered 'cheats' online but how do you put them in game. I found a particularly nice 'hog' skin.

Ok, I feel like an old man. I've made about 6-7 posts here about this game, most to do with what this game is like... time to get my feet wet. My original plan was to get the gold edition in the UK when it comes out at the end of the month. However, after telling my brother who's basically 29 and an avid ms flight sim enthusiast (he wanted to be a pilot but failed the medical) he went out to morrisons and bought it for 5 pounds. (that's a good deal I'd love to buy it at that price... one problem though.. my particular branch of morrisons here in Aberdeen seems to prefer selling 'My little pony party'. It looks like I'll have to pay ten pounds at game) He then told me it was cool, so i'm figuring the 28th of this month is a long way off when I can have this game now, and download the addons from lockon.ru tonight. But there's one thing that's stopping me buying - all that gubbins over the activation etc... Now, this isn't an issue because of some dark side of me saying i don't want spyware or whatever... It's down to a couple of questions really. Will I be downloading an .exe installer for Flaming Cliffs. I.e, one i can back up on a CD? If so how big is it? The description for buying it online says 'it's protected by starforce' what does that mean exactly? That when I install it, a code is generated that i must register to play it? Following on from the last question: Does that mean that should I find myself in the position of having to reinstall my pc completely, there's a limited number of times that I can install my web copy of flaming cliffs before I have to buy a new one? (That question might sound dumb but Apple and Ipod/Itunes have a lovely system in place that give you a limited number of activation uses, even after a reinstall of the PC)

the other secret is figuring out how the hell to land the SU-25. By the time I approach the runway the damn thing is still doing close to 250-300 knots. Tis a fast bugger I tell thee. Ahh well.. at least the crash landings are amusing to play with.. is there anyway to get the pilot to 'exit' the plane when landed rather than: "Tower, this is one" "go ahead one" "I had a pretty good run there" " yeah you did... now you're parked, just eject and we'll all go for a pint. I'm sure someone will repair your now rocket-burned cockpit for your next mission"

I'm playing the demo mission with the SU-25 and on board are 2 unguided cluster bombs, but my problem is I can't figure out how to drop them properly. I've read the manual for it and as it suggests I: press 7 select bombs (or the backwards b thing in russian) turn on the laser guide At this point, a target reticule shows up on the bottom of the HUD, half of it is missing because the POI is out of visual sight. Now the only way I can get the things to release is to basically fly right over them and then dive and drop the bomb when the reticule climbs up and i can see all of it in the hud, but at which point i typically have a load of AA fire in my face.. Is there no way someone could tell me the proper use of the bomb in the vanilla SU-25 please? It's doing my head in.

This will probably get me a flame or two, but here goes: ED are making some good stuff for lockon. In fact, it's all pretty incredible. While I have to wait another couple of weeks to get my hands on both Lockon and flaming cliffs in a gold bundle there's one thing that everyone and their mother has noticed: The game is decidedly geared toward Russian air vehicles. There are only two US aircraft in the whole of the game (with realistic cockpits etc) and the rest is Russian kit. (not that there's much wrong with the russian stuff). Now, I realise that ED is a Russian outfit, and the accessibility to information on their country's own stuff is probably much greater than being able to go find some stuff on US aircraft, but I see that some people want to have at least an f-18 or f-14 in addition to the Russian stuff.. Is there any chance of ED doing something like this?

Hey again, just bugging you over lock on (looks like I'll hang on until April 28th for the gold to come from Amazon).. I've been looking at some vids, and noticed some people flying f-16's or other aircraft that aren't listed as flyable.. How is this possible? Are they re-skins of the f15 or something or just planes you can control only in the campaign for FC?

Most of you guys are from the US, except the irish chappy :) I can't for the life of me find the gold, and since Amazon are saying it's coming out at the end of next month, I'll make do with the demo till then. It's 16 GBP for the Gold edition, so when Black shark comes out, probably around then, I'll get a fair few missions to play. (plus with flaming cliffs, the game is a cool new beasty) Question though... When Eagle dynamics did Flaming cliffs, they tweaked the physics models. However, while crashing is bad... sometimes you do get a bit low and get smacked around. The only plane that can actually crash land though is the SU-25.. (i'm playing demo). If you kiss the grass with an A-10, with wheels down, flaps down, brakes on you're toast, yet with the su-25 you're treated to a lovely bit of game where by you try not to disintegrate on touch down. Even if it does go a bit pear-shaped, it's still nifty to watch..

can't seem to find it - Amazon say it's coming out on April the 28th. I know it's out though..

Hey people, I'm new here, but I've been looking for a good combat flight sim for ages, so I'm not sure why I didn't buy lomac when it first came out.. It's on budget now though so no excuses :icon_supe I will wait though until April, as they're releasing a 'gold' version that includes flaming cliffs. However, I downloaded the FC demo, which is a big improvement over the simple lomac demo but there's a wierd thing that happens: every once in a while (and it's quite often... maybe once every 20 mins or so) the game becomes insensitive to commands from either the keyboard or the joystick. For example, you move the stick to roll gently and two seconds later the plane responds by doing a victory loop, barrel roll and then suicide run toward the terrain at about 240 mph. The only way to stop all of this is to exit the game completely which is also hard to do as key commands don't always respond either.. It's like i have to pres esc 5 times before it allows me to quit. Lastly, I've left the key-config as is but I can never seem to switch between ground targets.
