  1. Look, you're going to spend your money on something sooner or later. Whether or not that's a product that's got native Vulkan support is questionable at best.

Hurry up and wait, solemnly, patiently, and for the love of a 25 page thread... read the previous days' posts!!

  2. Regarding installation and use of Tacview 1.7.1, is there a way to ensure it detects a copy of DCS World that has been copied-and-pasted?

My installation of DCS World 2.5.x OpenBeta has detected the presence of Tacview 1.7.1, however the reverse is not true. Repairing DCS World does not correct the issue, either.

Short of de-registering, re-downloading and re-registering all modules, is there a solution?

  3. Have been having this problem for a long time, it has been reported before but not under this thread (as far as Search can tell)

Single GPU mode things are fine. Hit ALT+ENTER to engage Fullscreen, and the flicker is real.

Tested an array of drivers released since 2014 to 2017, no change in behaviour.

Tested combinations of view distance, model enlargement settings etc, no change in behaviour (this is a fix for the flicker in v1.5.x)

Tested alternate GPU BIOS, no change.

    OS is Windows 10,

  4. what is being refactored/rewritten does use multi-threading where possible.

atm the major parts which do it are:

resource loading and other I/O (logging, input, ffb ...), integrity checking, sound

w/o rewriting the engine, splitting simulation into a separate thread from the graphics will benefit it most - which will be, in fact, the mentioned client-server approach, just inside the app.

This really warms my heart :)

  5. Cool thanks

    Search Function, Show Threads "Multi-thread"

There's several threads in which ED Team Members have posted.

Searched for "multithread" instead, so I derped and didn't widen scope beyond that and checking all the pinned FAQ threads - maybe add it? You know, because so many people are asking?

As OP, I'm not saying DCSWorld should be multithread-optimised *right now* as (like another said earlier) devtime:$return isn't worth it this early in the HW market curve.

Sometime it'll be worthwhile, but obviously not right now.

  6. Does this still occur if you were to drop the resolution to a minimum/windowed mode, and re-run the test? If it does, it's a CPU-bound issue that likely isn't anything to do with your processor. the 4790K's have extremely strong single-thread performance, so it'll be an issue with the sim.

Run these tests with high/ultra graphics, lowest resolution with Task Manager/Performance in view to be sure of the situation - do a little troubleshooting ;)

  7. Like Radio and IFF simulation, ECM simulation for the player's dissemination is best kept to an UNCLASSIFIED level of fidelity, as this isn't a Classified Military Simulation Product - and Govts like to keep their secrets undisclosed.

I'm happy to work with a conceptually relevant model, because I sure as hell don't want to find NATO, EU or RU military secrets which would jeopardise the livelihoods of the developers.

  8. Hi all,

Seeing the emerging designs for CPUs in the next Fiscal Year, there are a lot of models with high core and thread counts.

My question is: Will DCS World 2.x take advantage of the additional cores and threads, or will it perform just as well on a quad-core processor of comparable IPC?
