new A10 pilot, need some help setting up
alphacharlieecho replied to EntropySG's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just hold on to your horses a bit and wait for Oculus Rift Retail to be available and you can do away with all of that. There is rumor that the retail version will have hand tracking with the sim version! As far as you having issues with irTrack, when you install the IrTrack it has you override the controls with its files. You have to edit those files and remap them as needed. The easiest way would be to get a 4th monitor, I use a 32" flat screen tv and run HELIOS to export my A-10c gauge cluster and dual MFCD to it. http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/downloads -
Connection interrupted / connection timeout 1.2.6.18933
alphacharlieecho replied to TheMoose's topic in Multiplayer
Is there a solution to the Connection Issue.. Have not been playing since I got frustrated with bugs months ago! Logged in to find this issue. CAN NOT PLAY AT ALL!! MONEY WELL SPENT? -
I am not hear to discuss my attitude, clearly I have an attitude!!! We all agree on this, so that is a dead topic.. Now the issue remains, where is the dedicated servers and how can we help make the community grow?
-
This is what the forum does. It is intended to find and fix issues but people only use it to troll, threaten, or go so far of topic it loses it's traction.. Everyone should stick to topic and just include ideas on how to fix them. anything else is just trolling... and I will continue to treat trolls with a dismissive attitude to keep this thread going in the right direction... GIVE US A SOLUTION OR STAY QUIET..
-
Anything on addressing the issues others seem to have with the community or game play? No, Then thanks for stopping by!
-
If it wasnt for those two servers I would have never been able to play this game once..... DCS SHOULD PAY THEM OUT OF ENO SALARY
-
WE TRY!!!!!! how about at least trying to maintain dedicated servers so the people that give you money and thus feed your family can play the damn thing without bending at the knee to every private user that has a server? Where the hell are the multilayer servers at? You tout this as a multilayer game very aggressively and yet if all the players took down their severs then you would lose those bragging rights. How dare you even consider coming into a thread written by your community members and talking down to them.. PISS OFF ENO
-
Translation, Wash, rinse, and repeat the same ideology that has kept the member rate unbearably low. Thank you for you wisdom...
-
Great, form you squads so you do not have to play with dare I say the masses. Now, if you do not have an opinion on the topic then please move along.
-
What part of my frustration do you understand, replying to this thread really requires that information to disqualify you as trolling. Don't you agree?
-
So you think that DCS maintaining dedicated servers is a good thing then?
-
That dos not address all the issues does it? With all the Ping and everything. No to mention I am not an employee of DCS. The issue is DCS community and what they are doing to grow it... Not what I can do to grow it, everything I do only reflects my intentions and views and are not necessarily those of DCS. I sure you have heard of things like this, so that must mean you are only hear to TROLL.. Anything positive to add?
-
Feuerfalke, That really doesnt address the issue now does it. Do you have anything important to add to the conversation before we send you back to the kiddie table?
-
ENO = TROLL EXAMPLE #1 I DID ENJOY YOUR PRIVATE MESSAGES!!! LOL

im not sure you read the post correctly or have the right frame of mind? I think the point is that DCS has been around a very long time and yet the member pool is extremely shallow. In fact I would like to retract the word pool and replace it with puddle. This is what needs to be addressed and correcting the issues new players face would do that. Wouldn't you agree, that keeping new players around would grow the community?
-
On a quiet night in Sim Country you can hear "DCS RUST". I am tired of hearing crickets singing, where is the community? What is DCS doing about growing the members so we can actually have people to fly with. I tried flying for the first time in over a month and only found one server with TS3 and active users. This is a big deal for me and do not care to play without other users. You have to communicate with other players in this type of game. The only server I found had 2 other people flying and they were in KA-50's. I fly the A-10c and found it impossible to do so cause of the damn Perry off-shore would lock-on as soon as I climbed to 1200 feet after take-off. You needed a SU-25 to take that thing out and I do not have the experience with those. These are the issues that face DCS and no one seems to care because all the veterans (TROLLS) like it the way it is cause they have squads they play with on scheduled times. We need dedicated servers for multilayer, monitored and maintained by DCS. The user servers have missions that are intended to be difficult and challenging for the veteran squads when they fly together. What in the hell kind of chance do the new users who are forced to pug small teams of 2 or 3 who rarely all join voice chat have to enjoy the game as intended. Cry all you want trolls but this is the fact, this is entertainment and not some sort of elitist training camp. We came here to enjoy flying and not to cater to your whims. So, do not tell me to join a squad cause I could care less about your hoops. Only 30 people online now. We can severely discount that number due to the strange numbers of servers that are niche, not to mention the ones that are clearly for people who speak French, Russian, and God knows what those others are. People online after discount! 7 Shall we discount that with the number of servers that ping us out right as we manage to get the inertial navigation system aligned? If it is not one thing it is another, judging by the issues DCS is focused on they only seem concerned with keeping the current members happily fed, not finding and keeping new ones. MORE THAN ANYTHING THIS COMMUNITY NEEDS DEDICATED SERVERS AND MORE MEMBERS!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this is the part where the veteran trolls turn this into a wine-fest and then the moderator comes in and closes the thread instead of addressing the issues listed that every new player I have spoke with shares. DO NOT PM ME CAUSE I WILL NOT READ THEM!!!! POST YOUR THREATS HERE PUBLICLY SO EVERYONE CAN SEE WHO THE BULLIES ARE! I learned that from my last post and yet I was not intimidated.

real tracer rounds do that as well. My introduction to tracer rounds was at Fort Sill Oklahoma during basic training. They made us crawl under barb wire through several inches of water in the prone position during the winter I might add. The important fact is that we had no idea where we were cause it was pitch black and had no idea that two mounted 50 cals were on the bunker ahead of us. They started firing about 10 feet overhead and the light emitted was so bright that it turned night into day. That was the same night that we had a short round from the artillery range accidentally go off directly overhead and put three trainees into the hospital due to "battle signs" bleeding from the ear. One additional soldier was paralyzed from the shoulders down from diving under the barb wire and catching his forehead on the 6x6 railroad tie. The Drill Sargents stop to reload and visibility returned to zero just as he went to dive under. SO YEAH THEY ARE BRIGHT, those were phosphorus red @ every third round alternating 3 second bursts btw It was a three mile march back to the barracks in wet BDU and Combat Boots during the dead of winter and I assure you that the stress of pressure the Drills felt from losing four recruits in the second week on a single night was far more ominous than any chill mother nature could throw at us.

It is not that easy, each force has it's own prefered method and color for creating tracer affects. Phosphorus and magnesium is the two most popular and color varies as well, most all countries have a red tracer but NATO typically uses chemical tracers. There is another variation that emits no visible light and is only visible through infared. The amount of tracer rounds used depends entirely upon availability and weapon fire rate. For training missions and simulations of combat small arms fire can have as much as 100% tracer rounds(yes, the weapons were extremely dirty afterwards). For the better part tracer rounds can be loaded in intervals at request of the gunner. Magnesium and Phosphorus rounds get brighter and Chemical rounds get dimmer the farther they travel down range, that is about the only major difference. That and accuracy of the tracer rounds compared to traditional rounds. I have only ever used red phos tracers personally but I have seen British troops use the green. Never have I seen the yellow but I have heard of them. The one affect that needs to be modeled in my opinion to a huge degree is the ricochet. When ever the round strikes something solid or at an angle the round can deflect and it creates a somewhat larger glow momentarily and you see the rounds run off in different angles or round exploding and fragmenting on impact and going everywhere. That never failed to make everyone smile. I have no idea why but it was cool and created a bit of panic to anyone on the receiving end. OH Yeah, the magnesium rounds catch stuff on fire, if what you are shooting at is flammable it will burn... You can not put out magnesium while it is burning, you only seem to make it worse. Coincidentally, Hot Rods used to have MAG wheels. Called such due to the fact that the wheels were made of primarily magnesium. It did not take manufacturers long to realize that was a bad idea cause brakes got really hot.

Clearly The "I" would represent my experience. From the go it is clear you have not read the thread thoroughly. You seen bits and pieces and decided to join the fan fare and make a poorly thought out comment. There are other sims in the market and none of them have the issues I have listed. Helios is an extremely popular program used by simpits and the fact that it is made by an individual and distributed for free reflects poorly on DCS and ED. This one guy is now expected to maintain and deliver this with updates as DCS evolves. The last patch released by DCS broke Helios and left people searching. and Helios has yet to be updated. Microsoft Flight Simulator allows for extraction of all gauges right from inside the GUI in a drag and drop fashion. Same for the screen size and resolution, yet DCS requires people to rely on second party software and hours of code editing and sifting through unarchived user posts to make this a full functioning flight sim. If not for Helios there would be no way in hell I would have even considered DCS. You can read my posts and think in your head that "I" represents a single person because apparently this DCS has been out since 1989 and this is largest community you can muster? I stayed up until midnight to log in and see the numbers online on Friday and there is actually less now. So I leave this thread unattended from this moment on, I downloaded and installed X-Plane and will give it a go. Maybe I will check back in 10 years or so, maybe!! If not happy I will try the next, then the next, and so on.. The only thing you need to ask yourselves is what percentage of the people out there does my voice represent. I am willing to bet it represents a much larger demographic than all the members who has posted on this thread in opposition to my opinion. It almost has to, LMFAO @ 1989- 29 members online!!! I would like to thank Gadroc and advise DCS to make a generous offer to him to obtain the right s to his project and implement it into DCS core...

hahaha I must have struck a chord cause everyone went on the defensive.. Everything I said has merit and is not off to the left or right so yeah, fan boys unite, circle the wagons and let the hating begin...... And yeah, Mr. seat time... Let me know when your multiple jobs puts a Lear 60 in your hanger...hahah
-
Clearly your loss, cause on the 104th I have made friends with everyone... And yeah!! I am just as rude.
-
11 months and 622 posts, when on earth have you found time to fly!!!! HAHAHAHA, I bet I have more time behind the stick than you in three months. How many posts do you have at simhq ffs

Learn marketing for free online Well, I do believe a new player who is well invested in the game and considering scraping it as they develop an extension is worth at least 10 cents more than someone who is happy and ready to buy. There is a reason the company you have been so loyal too has a new costumer discount but will not even so much as tell you thank you!!! It costs about 10x as much to earn a new costumer than it does to keep an old one.....

Phoenix air to ground is the best server I have found with the exception of what you have mentioned. I Have prolly 17-18k invested in my computer system/monitors/additional hardare and they restrict you to a cockpit view. very aggravating to someone with a setup like mine. I can appreciate the concept of not wanting people to cheat by seeing through the cockpit but there is a view that padlocks you so you are restricted to what a pilot would see anyway. Other than that I had zero issues with the folks in the phoenix. Made good friends quickly and the TS has many different channels people can drop down to for off topic chat. Even still I learned more from one day in there than I ever could have in these damn forums with their anti-archiving mentality. Anyone from phoenix reading this please for the love of god fix the view restrictions and stop making every combat station a sam city!!!
