Just thought I would let you know that I have had a response from AVIRA after submitting the FP (I assumed) file to them. The file has been declared CLEAN in this case. I'm honestly not surprised but hey peace of mind and all that! Thanks again guys for your responses. F

This whole exercise has been really worthwhile from my point of view. I've learned a lot. I suppose its all in the mind and having the knowledge and confidence to switch of RTP. It does a lot in the background while playing any hard hitting game. I know from flying in FS2004 and FSX. I have to say I never turn mine off, partiularly if the game is reliant on access to the internet for some of its more eye catching and immersive elements, like for instance in FSX, real time weather. Where that comes from I don't have a clue but it works. The good news is for those interested is that I am now up and running in the DCS World with the latest software. Not in my case straightforward but after a few hours tweaking and fiddling with Avira and scanning I think, with lots of help, have cracked it, as we say. TTUA (I don't know whether I just made that up 'thanks to you all'

Did Housecall (thanks for link), did AVIRA again, did Hitman Pro ALL clear. They all cant be wrong, can they? Decision time now. Convinces me that I have a FP. Why, is another question and opinions vary. Interesting that you have had a showing too 'S'. Did you ID the bad guy? I may try your solution if things go bad again.

Thanks again guys. Whether it makes any difference, I suspect not, I get this warning during the installation process. So I don't even get the thing installed! I stress that I'm no techy just a simple guy who likes playing games. Bearing in mind that the flag up is in the installation process, and I go no further and allow AV to do what it does, by putting the suspect in quarantine. If I then run a scan of the system on the basis that I have a bad guy somewhere in windows or wherever, it should find it, no? Or am I being too simple?

I really appreciate what you guys are saying. I'm still no further forward. I've uninstalled, re-installed, used the links on this site, tried the bittorrent, ran around the block a few times, kicked the cat (sorry pet lovers) I don't have a cat. I've scanned my system several times both with Avira and HitmanPro, root kit or something like that etc etc. and nothing is detected But when I re-download and install both DCS World and the A10 module, I get exactly the same notification of this Trojan. Geez what next. I'm really missing out on a great product. I take the point about Avira and dll files which has been made, I have had over sensitivity before with this anti virus. I can't remember off hand who raised the dll issue but I assume when you ignored the warning your computer hasn't died since? Even for free stuff, I always do a virus scan before opening anything, in fact I do it with everything. For all its faults Avira does do a pretty in depth scan.

I arrive for the first time in this forum with mucho despair!! Short and brief, I could not update with 'auto updater', soooo downloaded all 4 required files to bring DCS World up to latest spec. First I uninstalled the older version of DCS. Now spent the last 3 hours checking my system to make sure all OK as the exe file for latest version coughed up a trojan about 30% of the way through by my anti virus, 'Avira'. Trojan goes by the fanciful handle: TR/Crypt.ZPACK.Gen. I know from past that Avira can be super sensitive at times and history shows it does on occasion cough up false positives. But this virus apparantly is pretty lively and can cause problems. Removed DCS World and everything else connected with it. Re-loaded my original purchase of A10 and all seems OK. I am really p***** of as I was looking forward to expanding DCS further. Anyone else experienced like problems? It is a puzzle as the older version of DCS installed with no difficulty. :mad:
