  1. You are quite correct! Thank you very much
  2. Thanks for your reply. No I had DCS World installed (with other modules) before Black Shark (steam) was installed. Do I really need to uninstall everything to activate this module?
  3. Hi all, I have A-10c (originally purchased through steam), P-51 and FC3 all working fine in DCS World. Yesterday I purchased the Black Shark 2 upgrade which I assumed would upgrade my old steam copy of DCS Black Shark in order for it to work in DCS World? When I enter the key that I was given for Black Shark 2 it tells me that the key is not valid. There is no key for this game in my steam library either (the old Black Shark). Can anybody help? I have tried flushing the activations out of my registry also, and I still have the same issue. Thanks!
  4. I've done that many MANY times. You feel like a right fool!
  5. I would recommend you spend a little bit more money and pick up a copy of this: http://www.lulu.com/gb/en/shop/eagle-dynamics/dcs-a-10c-warthog-manual/paperback/product-20469424.html It's a really nice reference book to have next to you when flying :D 671 pages (same as the pdf you get with the game, but printed) pic of it (printed) here:
  6. I've played quite a bit since the initial post in this topic and have managed to take about a quarter of a tank on my best effort - definitely getting better with practice :)
  7. It depends on the mission as to what assets are there. If you want a carrier it is often easier to just set up one up yourself with the mission editor where ever you want it. Hope this helps :)
  8. Good question, this has frequently frustrated me.
  9. Enable the ground safety over ride (rear left panel, under red plastic cover).

I believe it is possible in the A-10 at least if you use the ground safety over ride (very back, on the left under a red cover).
  11. I sent an email a few hours ago, no reply as of yet.
  12. Hi all, I have just installed DCS World and the A-10 module. I attempted to activate my Steam DCS A-10 key so that it'll work on DCS World. However it says "you aren't connected to the internet". When I try to view the webpage it says I can alternatively use http://proactive.star-force.com/2.0/activate.php this site appears to be down. Is this just a temporary situation or am I missing something?
  13. Sadly I don't have a split throttle. I was trying to increase throttle when I needed to get closer for a second and then turn it back to where it was before I'd even saw it was moving (to counter for the throttle lag). I think I was increasing and decreasing by too much though, as you can probably hear in the engine sound. I was adding maybe 3-5% and then back down again.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuvd7LJyIpk That's where I am now, I'll keep practicing. I think it's going to be very hard to stay connected!
  15. I found that zooming out helped as I could see the tanker easier and see "the bigger picture".
  16. Just had another try at this. I actually managed to make contact about 6 times, and took on a tiny tiny bit of fuel on two occasions. I think the most helpful thing was paying attention only to the TVV and reference points on the tanker instead of chasing the boom. I'll get a short, edited video of the highlights up shortly. I've seen the trollololol refueling, very funny stuff :D
  17. Have you tried altering the gain on the screen?
  18. I expect in reality also, the fact that I am using an X-52 without any foot pedals means that I am likely to physically move the stick a little as I twist for rudder - so I am inputting roll.
  19. You'd get some funny looks if you pulled out the printed version ;)
  20. Yes, I'll be sure to turn the tacan off next time :D I am about to go in for another flight - focusing on maintaining my position relative to the tanker, with my curves set a bit higher and rudder locked out. I'll keep you posted as to my level of success / failure :joystick:
  21. Thank you Yurgon - that's an interesting idea (one axis at a time) and I guess it does make sense, but I'll have to try it to see what difference it makes. I expect it means you won't be constantly over correcting your position - which would make things easier definitely. As for yawing, can I ask what the main reason is behind locking it out? It may sound like a silly question but what in particular makes yawing a bad idea?
  22. There is a mission that sticks in my mind where there are a load of soft ground targets along a road in a valley. And out of nowhere 2 helicopters fly down the valley firing missiles at you if you are low enough. So it would be beneficial to take them out I guess, although if you maintain altitude you can still achieve your mission objects (destroying the convoy) and avoid any hassle from them (the AI tends to take them out eventually with air-to-ground missiles). Edit: I have a copy of the flight manual next to me and out of curiosity I flicked through to see if there is any mention of the MAV in an air-to-air role (either on the weapon profile, or combat employment) and there is no mention, it simply states about it's ability to track a target e.t.c. As expected on the AIM-9 section it states that it is purely for defence against "helpless helicopters that stray too close". I think in almost every mission you can almost disregard enemy aerial activity if you follow the brief and flight plan.
  23. The first point I would stress is that the A-10 although multi-role should not be considered an Air-to-Air tool and as such any Air-to-Air capability I would describe as just an added bonus. The AIM-9 is pretty much there for defence, you'd never send in an A-10 knowingly to an aerial engagement. I believe the mav does have the ability to track aerial targets but given it's speed, and the fact it's designed for slow moving ground targets it has a pretty poor success rate against any decent aircraft in my experience. There aren't many occassions in DCS A-10 when you need to engage aerial targets and I think if you feel like a maverick is your best bet then you are probably doing something wrong or would be better off avoiding a confrontation.
  24. Thank you for this file, I found it very helpful :)
