  1. Hi Jander What a brillant simulator. Great work. Can I suggest you seek out a Keytronic mini keyboard. This is what I use in our simulators. Hope this helps.
  2. Hugso, my friend building the simulator, is a wonderful engineer. He is the brains behind the engineering for the pneumatic ram design that moves the simulator. My software gets the required telemetry from whatever simulator and moves servos controlled using Phidgets Servo Controllers. Hugso and I will be pleased to release the software and hardware designs, for free, once we have got what we call gSeat working with DCS. The original gSeat has been working with IL-2 for several years. Now I hope you understand we are sincere about the motion simulator. This is why I am trying to fast track understanding how Lua is used by DCS.
  3. What do you mean by ATM? I know this might seem an odd place to look for German aircraft parts, but http://spitfirespares.co.uk/home.html might be worth a look at. Jon at http://www.spitsim.co.uk might also might be able to make you a custom part. He is a master engineer and can hand make practically anything out of metal, if you have the plans. I like your Spitfire Spade Grips. I was building a Spitfire simulator for IL-2 and then Cliffs of Dover. With the demise of CoD I have moved over to DCS and the P-51. Hopefully ED will release a Spitfire and a ME-109 in the future. This would really bring in the warbird/prop pilots who were expecting big things of CoD. I know DCS is a primarily a jet sim, but there is a market for a good warbird/prop sim and ED can do it. With their partnership with The Fighter Collection they've get access to the real aircraft; http://fighter-collection.com/cft/564-2/. The P-51 vs a P-51 is great to fly in dogfights and it shows the potential DCS to become a prop sim. I used to love flying Falcon 4.0. Returning to a jet sim is cool. My plan is to first build a P-51/generic prop sim then a jet sim. Performing carrier ops with the F-18 is something I would love to do:)
  4. Has anyone used Voice Buddy with DCS? http://www.edimensional.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=94 Is it any good? Is there an alternative that works well with DCS?
  5. Thanks for the added information. Your '190 is looking good. I think you are doing it the right way by out sourcing getting parts made. This is what I did when I got a Spitfire instrument laser cut. I could have never done the great job the laser cutters did for me. And I got to watch them cut it:) Now that ED are going to release a '190 your simulator will be great to have. Enjoy building your simulator.
  6. Okay, I crumble easily under pressure:smilewink: My friend has just sent me some pictures of the cockpit he is working on. As mentioned the cockpit is based on the Akers & Barnes concept. The instrument panel is curved because we are building a P-51 simulator. However the instrument panel will be inter-changeable so I can have it setup as a fast jet sim too. Happy now?:smilewink:
  7. Hi Hugao I am getting some good feedback on the cockpit builders forum; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103243
  8. I don't want to say to much at the moment because I want to make sure I can write the software to get the motion platform to work with DCS. Once I get some software running I will happily post some pictures. At the moment we are building a 2nd simulator which improves on the original design. The actual cockpit is based on the Akers & Barnes concept. The motion platform uses pneumatic rams for movement. This is much cheaper, quieter and less hassle than hydraulics. My friend is building the Akers & Barnes cockpit at the moment. Once he has built that he will start working on the motion platform. When the Akers & Barnes is built I will post some pictures. I've learnt from experience, from the IL-2 forums, not to write about something that wont possibly happen. Please be patient and my friend and I will produce something you cockpit builders will like:)
  9. Hi Gremlin77 Thanks for the information on the Lua scripts. I will check them out. I am still debating if to write my software in C and embed the C functions into Lua or use UDP. UDP is a good choice because a 2nd PC can be used to run the control software and the 1st PC can run DCS. Which forum How-To do you mean?
  10. Thanks, Gremlin77. You've got a great cockpit going on there:)
  11. Hi Gremlin Forgive my ignorance; I am new to DCS. Can you point me to the right place to get the Helios software you mention? I've seen it mentioned in a few post and would like to check it out. TIA
  12. Hi JG52Krupi Where did you get your seat made? It would make a good replacement for the seat I use in my Akers and Barnes inspired cockpit.
  13. Hi All I am fairly new to DCS after moving away from IL-2 and the now defunct Cliffs of Dover. A friend and I have built a full motion simulator that works with IL-2 and X-Plane. I would like to get the simulator to work with DCS World. However there is a lack of up to date documentation for Lua. I have asked for a new Lua Reference from ED; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103074. Once I have got the simulator working with DCS World I will be happy to post more information about it. There are some amazing cockpit builds going on here. I am sure there are a few people who would like to build a motion simulator to mount there cockpits onto :) If anyone can provide information about which Lua scripts I should be using that would be most helpful. I am an experienced programmer and will be happy to learn Lua and re-learn C. (C was the first programming I learnt to program with 20 years ago). Its understanding which Lua scripts I should be looking at, and learning from, that is my sticking point at the moment. Any positive feedback will be much appreciated. TIA Gary
  14. Thanks Weta43. I will have a look at this thread and post something there.
  15. Would anyone in the DCS community like to comment on this request? I am happy to learn Lua and re-learn C to write what I need to get the motion simulator to work. I just don't know which Lua scripts, in DCS World, I should be looking at to start with. I have already written some of the C code that moves the servos which move the pneumatic rams that provide movement to the simulator. I just need to learn Lua and write scripts which run the C functions and embed them into DCS. Once I have the simulator working I will provide more information about it. This motion simulator would cost less than £1000 to build and utilises the Akers and Barnes design. Which script gets run every frame in a mission? Any positive feedback will be welcome. TIA Gary
  16. Hello Eagle Dynamics Can you please supply an up to date Lua reference manual for DCS World. The information you provide at http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/dev_journal/lua-export/ is out of date. I want to write a program that controls a full motion simulator. The simulator is already built and works. Originally it was built to work with IL-2 and X-Plane. I would now like to get it working with DCS. The Lua reference needs to cover how to extract telemetry and if there is an example script I could use. A list of all of command functions is also needed. A description of the core Lua scripts used by DCS World would also be helpful. I trust Eagle Dynamics will provide a new reference manual for Lua. TIA Gary
