  1. Wow just fired up the Huey after reading this and adjusted the tension setting to the lowest possible on the pedals...what a difference! I guess maybe common sense should have told me the pedals were too stiff but again I have no real life experience so I was not sure. I felt maybe the mechanical workings of the real thing would make it stiff so as to not overcontrol or something? I am not sure what I was thinking. I feel much more in control of the helicopter now and everything just felt much smoother on the lap I took around Batumi. Maybe some other noobs will see this and it will help them. Thanks guys
  2. I tried searching for "realistic helicopter rudder pedal tension", "rudder pedal tension", and "realistic tension" in both google and the forums and could not find my answer. I recently purchased the Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals with a tension adjust knob that changes the pedal tension. I fly rotary wing only and as a complete noob to the real life thing...what is the most realistic tension setting? I currently have them set to the stiffest setting possible but this just doesn't feel smooth when controlling. I have a feeling I am wrong on my tension setting can anyone with knowledge of the real life thing give me some input or am I just not used to it?
  3. I was playing Huey Drop Large online when I took some small arms at one of the LZs. To my surprise when I looked at the outside of the aircraft I saw this. Isn't this supposed to be the driveshaft to the tail rotor? It was spinning freely disconnected yet I had full control of the tail rotor using the pedals. My master caution panel indicated "DC GENERATOR" and "HYD PRESSURE" yet I noticed no difference in the flight characteristics. Even with HYD PRESSURE warning the controls did not feel sluggish at all.
  4. Wow thank you very much this was driving me crazy not knowing what was wrong. I thought maybe I had to reinstall. Well for now due to low framerate on my low end computer I will just stick to flying and utilize the guns in the future when I upgrade. For me with the low FPS the freetrack is not smooth enough to aim with. Thank you again for the replies and solving this.
  5. Just a Quick bump it has been a few days and no response. I am still unable to control guns in the Co-pilot, door gunner, or crew chief positions using the mouse. Other people I have asked in Multiplayer sessions all control the guns using the mouse with no issues at all. The only mod I am using with DCS world is the Mp logbook mod and this issue still persists after de-activating it. Any info?
  6. Whenever I am in either the flexible gun mode or on the M-60 door guns my mouse will not control the movement of the guns. Whenever I try to move the mouse the gun moves slightly then suddenly snaps to center view. It is like "center camera" is stuck on constantly. The mouse does correctly spin the camera around the helicopter in the F2 outside view. This problem is only within the cockpit on the gun positions. The only thing that is able to move the guns correctly is when I turn on FreeTrack and move my head. This problem still persists even without running FreeTrack and starting the simulation. I have unbound all view command keys except for mouse X for horizontal, Mouse Y for vertical, and Mouse Z for zoom and this problem still persists. Here is a short track showing the issue. You can see correct aiming with FreeTrack on and then the jumpiness trying to use the mouse and FreeTrack off. View issues.trk
  7. I apologize my comments were made prematurely before reading your official post on page 4. I should have more trust in the development team and I deleted the rant post. Thank you for clarifying this and giving me some peace of mind.
  8. I'm not sure all I can say is practice practice practice. I don't feel the over sensitivity that everyone speaks of. I have played many different flight sims though over the years including the most popular helicopter ones. You just learn to anticipate and "feel" the aircraft. I can't even describe it. I dont even think about it anymore it just happens and I feel this only comes from practice. I wish I could offer some better constructive criticism but the big secret is just practice.
  9. Sorry for not responding earlier but PeterP is the man when it comes to the FFB2. Thats exactly as my stick is I basically plugged it in, started DCS world, and chose "swap axis" as PeterP outlined. Thats it and it flys perfectly. No curves or deadzones and I believe default saturation is 100 on each axis. Keybinds are already set as well. Button 3 is trim and button 2 is for weapons release. Thats all I use personally.
  10. Hey PeterP I have seen that crazy stick. Too intimidated to try that build for now but maybe in the future for sure.
  11. I cannot recommend this stick enough for DCS huey. I was lucky enough to pick one up used on Ebay for 50 dollars and it came to me in what appears to be absolutely perfect shape. Before trying to fly the Huey with my Logitech 3d extreme pro I was having all the issues everyone is complaining about. It is literally a night and day difference for myself. I can smoothly and easily control the helicopter through its various flight transitions. I HIGHLY recommend this stick it has literally changed the sim for me completely. I really hope this upcoming "improved" flight model doesn't change the sim to be easier due to "flight issues" people are supposedly having. Another thing to consider was my old Logitech 3D stick would cause inputs due to dirty or worn out pots inside the stick (twitchiness etc.). This was noticeable by just removing my hand off of the stick and the in game cyclic and pedals would move. This could very well be part of the issues people are having with the sim's "twitchiness".
  12. This was mentioned before in another thread. I too had the same issue and to resolve it load DCS World and choose "Module Manager" just underneath "logbook". Scroll down to the UH-1H module at the bottom of the list and choose "Install". This just fixed it for me and allowed installation.
  13. I sold my motorcycle to fund new flight hardware and this module. Yes I am serious. Thank you Belsimtek for this.
  14. Excellent videos Wess. Very clear and understandable. What stick and pedals are you using in these vids?
  15. I will look into this but with my limited budget it already sounds expensive. I have some background into electronics but even PeterP's mod looks very technical.
  16. Amazon has 2 MS FFB2s preowned right now for 50 ish USD. I really wish I could afford one of them but I cannot at this point until a bit after my huey purchase. Looks like it'll be the 3D pro with ghetto freetrack for now. At least with the MS FFB2 I can later use it to mod a CH fighter stick or something into that crazy PeterP mod.
  17. Wow this is shocking as I am currently using the Logitech 3D pro. I will definitely look into the CH pro pedals along with a CH Fighterstick. I don't quite understand the extended stick projects. I will have to look into them later on with more detail. The comments on the TM warthog are out there in the threads I won't start linking the exact comments though.
  18. After looking through several discussion threads on the upcoming DCS Huey I'm wondering which joystick, pedals, and possibly collective system out there to invest in. I noticed in one thread someone mention the Thrustmaster Warthog might not be precise or sensitive enough for this simulation as it is very stiff. This was a bit of a shock as I thought this to be the best on the market currently and I am re evaluating my potential purchase into one for this product primarily. As far as rudder pedals I see mostly in people's signatures either CH pro pedals or Saitek pedals. How would these fare in non fixed wing simulations. Someone else mentioned that force feedback might be a necessity for this simulation. Can someone explain or possibly link some systems with this. Lastly, if possibly the testers could come in and provide input on their personal flight control systems they use. I haven't seen any helicopter specific systems that run in the $500 dollar price range.
  19. Amen brother. Show me any other helicopter sim with this level of fidelity. I've tried them all from take on: Helicopters to Dodo sim in FSX. Complete garbage compared to what this is looking to be. Don't get me wrong though DCS Blackshark is amazing but the coaxial rotor makes flying it feel so easy. It is a very stable helicopter within the simulation. I'm looking forward to the challenge of fighting the Huey to keep it in the air.
  20. With purchase of the Huey we are introduced with a higher fidelity cockpit damage model (glass breaking and hopefully more), new multiple seat positions within one aircraft, new sling loading physics, and possibly new ground troop AI and modelling. I'll take that over your nevada map and graphics :D Yeah I realize I sound like a huge fanboy. I suppose we will see with time just how the Huey really is.
  21. Thanks for the welcoming :D You are definitely right it was 60 Either way I feel if this is the price there is ample reasoning for it although they announced 39.99. Perhaps they know the real hardcores like myself are willing to pay this amount or perhaps delays/setbacks increased the cost of development. I myself am much more of a rotary aircraft fan and ever since the KA-50 I have been waiting for a tail rotor helicopter simulation at the same level of fidelity.
  22. I think it will be very much worth it. This will be THE highest fidelity helicopter simulation on the market I believe. IIRC I paid 70 dollars for a-10C on release day.
  23. Long time fan of ED and the products they are putting out (I've got an original boxed version of Lock On). I've finally decided to register and give my thanks to the developers for the simulations they have created and many many thanks to Belsimtek for creating this masterpiece. I am very excited as I check for the Huey to be released every day. Going through EvilBivol-1's posts I found this one on the Russian board. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/huey/ Now where is that buy button at... Someone over there discovered it and if you are anything like me this brought a lot of excitement. I think we are awaiting 1.2.4 and not necessarily completion of the Huey but I feel with this page up we are very very close.
