Good question!! Before I started looking at DCS I was looking at spending around £350 - £400. After I started looking at DCS I upped it to £600, then £800, then £1k and it all seems to be getting a bit silly when compared with my original budget. I don't mind spending a reasonable amount but I keep seeing things I like..... I am happy to spend a reasonable amount to give a reasonable degree of future proofing but I don't want to go over the top. I would be happy to spend around £7 - 800 but it is not entirely rigid either way.

Haven't done much gaming in years but have recently become interested in DCS.... fortunately at the same time as my pc needed replacing anyway at 6+ years old. I need some advice though. I will likely only be playing flight sims cannot afford a fortune on a gaming pc but can afford a reasonable amount. I have been looking at the pc's at http://3xs.scan.co.uk/. should i be looking at any other companies? Quality is important to me as is support. Intel vs AMD I keep changing with the wind on this one. AMD chips seem to be better value but Intel give a better performance. Once you factor in all the other components the actual difference in price is not as much overall. I am thinking about an i3 overclocked to 4.4 or a 6 or 8 core AMD similarly overclocked. What do I actually need? GPU. Do I need to spend £200 on a GPU or is £100 plenty? If so which ones? I don't want to buy a card and then need to upgrade it in a years time. My main criteria is that I would like the rig to last. All I have had to do to my present pc is add ram and hdd. (I wouldn't like to game on it though!! All comments gratefullt received!
