    I was hoping to find a created mission for case 3 recoveries in the cat. Preferably with SC but I couldn’t find for regular or SC. I guess I’ll have to watch some YouTube videos on creating a mission with ME. I just want a few way points out and then find my way back and practice.

     

     

     

    I have modified one of the SC missions for the Cat to train the Case 3. I’ll post here later this evening, if I find the time.

    what heading do I fly though back to the ship to get the radial to line up?

     

     

     

    Hi,

     

    maybe this helps you understand. It’s a graphical display of a Case 3 recovery, that relies on carrier radial intercept. What will be important for you is:

     

    - the course of the carrier (BRC) - here it is 010

    - the radial of the landing deck - always -10 degrees (360)

    - the approach radial - opposite to landing radial (180)

    - your course towards radial intercept - ( Marshal radial)

     

     

    That means simplified:

     

    1) Approach the carrier on the Marshal radial

     

    2) Turn in towards approach Radial (Switch course setting accordingly)

     

    3) Have a controlled decent towards glideslope

     

    4) Capture glideslope and Land safely

     

     

    If you have the Supercarrier Module, mother will give you the radial Information so you can set up your approach.

     

    For the beginning you should ignore all the other information on the chart such as DME and Flight levels.

    I also have the experience, that she feels quite „wobbly“. Trying to line up for a shot is one hell of a challenge - air and ground.

     

    I love the feel of the engine-torque, but even when I don’t touch the throttle, have it set at medium settings,she is a real beast to tame.

     

    In A/G i can observe a tendency to side slip when I am leveling in for the attack, in A/A her nose keeps dancing around the center line of the aircraft.

     

    Most A/A kills I get are a result of „spraying“ the target.

     

    I guess it just is a new level of piston plane simulation and I have to learn her a bit more. She seems to like the rudder dance quite a lot.

     

    Anyways, it’s one beautifully designed module and it gives me quite a challenge, so currently I am still very pleased.

    Tomcat updates for the Super Carrier

    @Entire Heatblur Team: Thanks for making the cat compatible with SC from the start on! Really looking forward to the upcoming updates and refinements.

     

    Regarding the carrier itself, will the HB Forrestal class carrier be “just a detailed model” or will it include the SC mechanics?

     

    (Sorry if this was answered somewhere before - if so I could not find it.)

    I love the current WW2 development efforts and the potential of DCS! Just got myself a P-51 campaign and really look forward to digging into that module again. Here is an older video I made of some ground attack work.

    Hmm....I am flying the Tomcat single and I am relying on Jester. Hi did not eject on his own ever and although he calls out a lot of things I think it helps me keeping my situational awareness.

     

    Better see that missile even if it is not intended for you...

    Video - Alert 5 Carrier Defense Mission (VR)

    I can't wait for the Tomcat to be smooth enough in VR for my liking (60fps minimum, with no reprojection). NVIDIA needs to bring on the 3080 Ti, which is rumoured to have 50% more CUDA cores than my 2080 Ti. That should do the trick nicely! Until then, I can only dream...

     

     

     

    Yeah, a little more power for our graphics card would be great linking forward to Vulkan support and of course the next NVidia Generation.

     

    Nevertheless I gotta say that with the current Oculus Rift S the immersion is much better and I really enjoyed the mission in VR.
