Id make sure XMP profile for the memory is selected in bios otherwise the ram will run at only around 2666, this can be checked in Task Manager in Windows to see if the memory is running at the 3600 rated speed or not.
I wouldnt bother with overclocking a Ryzen straight away as it does a decent enough job stock. It keeps a little performance in reserve for when you upgrade cooler/gfx later down line and can get tiny boost from an overclock.

Hey there!
Quick question about DCS versions n etc.
Ive been away for ages n just reinstalled DCS again. Is the base game for everyone getting upgraded to v2 of the sim eventually or is it just when buy Nevada?
My version is still on 1.5.xx and thought it was getting upgraded for everyone?
Just want to know if the version number should be 2.xx or V2 is already what im playing on.
Thx for look!

Only real difference if specs are the same is (potential) overclocking room.

Low download speed once seed numbers pick up?
Hi there, there seems to be an issue with the torrenting version of the updates the beta is getting..
Initially when the update download started using the torrent downloads, which i assume is a new feature of the Updater, i was getting about a 4-6MB download speeds when building up the number of peers. Once it stabilised around 180 peers the speed has now dropped to about 150k/s.
Is there a fix to this issue or to force the update to use the direct download host instead of torrenting?
Also, if there are 180+ peers for these updates, who exactly is hosting them? Does the latest update turn my pc into a torrenting seed box full time, when the game is running, or does it only connect to people running full blown torrent apps?
**Also as a side question, does the repair install feature of DCS check all the content installed or just the base DCS World install? After getting the beta to download a few days ago i got an error log about updating some modules and now the Mig 21 has a partial see-through body and few other parts. I have ran the repair link in the start menu but the plane still has several areas of the body thats transparent.
Thanks for look, Greg.

Howdy.
Ive finally decided to download the beta 1.5 but i cant seem to update it after spending all day downloading the out of date torrent listed on the main website.
After having the updater fail several times through the day with "server capacity may be limited", i now cannot even get the updater to try, even after using the guides to force the updater to check outside its once daily routine.
1.5 seemed to install properly from the 10GB torrent off the main site but then the update broke about 2 minutes into updating to 1.5.1.etc and broke the 1.5 already installed.
Now all i get is "ERROR: Sorry, web-installs are temporarily suspended. Use the full installer, please." Yet the only full installer is the torrent from 2 months ago?
Is there any fix to this at all?
Thanks , Greg.

I fired up the same mission again and landed at Kutaisi to investigate this. The framerate dropped to about 40fps when I hit the runway and it stayed there while I were on the ground. It still felt smooth to me but that is thanks to Freesync. I can imagine if I were to use normal v-sync instead, it would stutter pretty hard.
Sweet, thanks for that.

Works fine on my FX-8350 paired with a 290X. It's not a CPU problem. I'm seeing 70 - 125 fps rendering at 1440p and everything on high.
Edit: Took a screenshot just to demonstrate. As you can see, there's plenty of CPU headroom and the framerate is fine. This is from the first A-10C quick start mission.
Does the cpu load change at all when on the runway or just the gpu load increases? It always drops loads of fps for me on the ground.
-
I have everything set to max/extreme. No problems here, also with a GTX970. Except for screen resolution. I have that set to 512.
With what cpu though? The FX-8320 has about the same single core performance as a Core2Duo e6600 2.4 ghz. I still dont think DCS 1.5/2 supports multi core cpus (or 2 cores max) so its the equivalent of running the 970 with a 9 year old core2duo.
-
I think you are still asking too much of your system. On 1.5 changelog it says the new "Extreme" visibility is only for high end systems along with a few other options that are set probably too high for the cpu/gpu.
Id try lowering the visibility range one notch along with the shadows options, water and cockpit displays res down to 512.
Might as well turn vsync on too and get a stable 60 fps instead of thrashing the gpu for extra fps the screen wont show (if a 60hz screen).

Are you using max msaa and other settings? Can you post screenshot of your graphics menu options pls.

If someone could sniff SSL traffic to steal the keys from an email, they would be able to break SSL on Steam or on a website too and read it off a webpage you would need to copy/paste it from anyways.

Meybe try installing intel inf and the newest drivers for the new gfx card. Might have been old drivers from old card not working properly.
Did you plug the screen into the new card when booting it or have it pluugged into the Intel motherboard gfx?

I`m using Sapphire Tri-X factory OC 280X
Without mods and all settings to highest and no traffic @ 1920X1200 im getting (with A10C):
~40 on the runway
~50 in the air
~60 in external view (F2)
with mods (HDR, very high visibility range , better ground textures etc...) the frames are lower but the game still feels pretty smooth.
i chose 280X over the 770GTX because its faster in every other game, and i`m sure with EDGE it will overtake it in DCS as well.
Yea pretty much same with my Dual-x 280x with a bit of overclock.

Has this fixed the weird spikes and glitches on the maps text?

Hi, ive just had a notice on screen from Malwarebytes saying it blocked access to a malicious domain.
When i checked the logs it was blocking DCS updater.
"IP-BLOCK 195.2.252.49 (Type: outgoing, Port: 49545, Process: dcs_updater.exe)"
Could this be the issue for the long delay during startup if its a flagged domain and getting blocked by av/firewalls?
Why would dcs need to connect to a flagged server anyways or is it a false positive from Malwarebytes?

The one thing i do like on 8.1 is Hibernate. Gets from power button press to login screen in about 5 seconds on a 7200rpm hard drive.
I was also having issues with my Logitech mouse restarting computer 2 minutes after turning off. All i did was disable keyboard from waking pc in System Properties and just turning off mouse quickly before Windows turned off.
Pc turns back on now when turning the mouse back on.

You cannot disable UAC in 8.1
The closest thing to it is the silenced-mode. It's still active, though.
I had some troubles myself and I hate that power-safeing BS that disables my Cougar MFDs, because there is no input coming from them and what sends no input is switched off.
Nice thinking.
At least there should be an option to disable it other than hacking your registry.
Anyway, most problem are negated by activation the option to run the program as admin. That solved 9 of 10 issues for me.
http://www.eightforums.com/system-security/2434-disable-uac-completely.html
Ive been using this since i installed 8.1 and its made the whole system more responsive. Gone is the micro delay for things to respond to clicks that appeared after every Os after Xp and i dont run into issues of installers failing due to UAC trying to virtualize important registry keys.
You dont need UAC at all if you have a decent antivirus/IDS and all it does is bloat/lag the Os trying to virtualize everything which is pointless since 99% of malware bypasses uac anyways.
I dont trust any MS supposed security improvements at a cost of a much more bloated Os when things like this:http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/03/11/microsoft_adobe_patch_tuesday/
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms14-013
Can still ruin pc's all the way from Xp to 8.1 with just a picture file...

Accidentally dropping or even exposing a reactor-rod to open air actually is a pretty bad scenario in terms of contamination (remember, you're dealing with a very high-radiation source), so handling the rods like they do here actually IS a potential nuclear accident every 90 seconds.
If that canister dropped and cracked, you'd have a rather bad case of contamination to deal with.
Oh no i understand the seriousness of the reactor removal and etc etc, but the documentary was about 3/4 about the reactor or the dangers if something went wrong, and only 1/4 was about the actual Typhoon and the rest of the job to tear it down. I just wish they went into more detail about the rest of the Typhoon and teardown rather than dragging and padding the reactor work out so long.

Stock will be faster in general as it will boost above 4.2 in apps that use only a few cores. It might also boost above 4.2 when under heavy loads depending on how good its cooled but it varies from system to system.
