I’m trying to get smooth, cinematic camera shots for a Hornet video. Actually I'm using a 1000 - 2000 dpi mouse. But regardless of dpi settings pans and zooms are yerky and shaky even when trying to move the mouse with greatest caution across the table. Recently I found the „3D Connexion SpaceMouse“. https://www.3dconnexion.com/spacemouse_compact/en/ This mouse allows 3D movements while the hand is resting still and stable on the table. I guess it will give much smoother camera mouse control than with a standard device. Does anybody have tested this mouse or is using it? Any experiences?

No, that's the point, unfortunately. DCS can only map 4 (USB) control/map inputs: Keyboard, joystick, rudder and mouse. Any additional input will simply be disregarded. Earlier I've been considering track ball devices, but the DCS compatiblity of these drivers is more than questionable. They will be accepted as "mouse", will behave as a mouse but no one can guarantee compatibility.

I’m trying to get smooth, cinematic camera shots for a Hornet video. The mouse movement can be set to slow in DCS options and the resolution oft the mouse setting can be refined but the result is still not suitable. I'm using a wireless 1000 - 2000 dpi mouse. But regardless of dpi settings pans and zooms are yerky and shaky even when trying to move the mouse with greatest caution. Any advice for a mouse which suits best for this task? Are there any other (USB) control tools applicable?

No reply from Batumi ATC for startup/takeoff clearance
wernst replied to wernst's topic in DCS: UH-1H
yes, meanwhile I found that UHF AM (sel. to 2) and VHF AM (sel. to 3) are operational for contact with tower. Sorry for confusion, but I read many Huey start up lists and found that none of them cover how to contact tower for startup/taxi/take off clerances. These clearances are mandatory not only for planes but for helis as well at airports with ATC service. I did some COM tests with mixed results but finally I know how it works . . . on step further. -

yes, you're right. I did more tests: VHF FM (selector to 1) doesn't work for ground to tower com. Only UHF AM (2) and VHF AM (3) are operational for this purpose. Sorry for the confusion. -
No reply from Batumi ATC for startup/takeoff clearance

Yes and no, I can only confirm that all 3 radios work sometimes, more or less accidentially. In previous tests I concluded that none of the 3 radio work, because I was expecting to get an answer within 5 secs. Wrong. By chance I found that sometimes you have to wait much longer, say more than 30 secs, and then you might surprisingly get a reply from tower ATC. conclusion: The com with tower ATC in the Huey is not implemented well. And in various Huey startup checklists communication with tower ATC for clearances are either left out or are simply wrong. -
No reply from Batumi ATC for startup/takeoff clearance
wernst replied to wernst's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Yes, it's weird. But I don't want to give up and tried doggedly all possible setting options. What I found: The rotary sw selects one of the three radios available which can be recalled by the "Pilot’s radio trigger RADIO". (At Batumi) it is rotary 1 -> VHF FM set this radio to 40,400 MHz rotary 2 -> CB UHF set this radio to 260,00 MHz) rotary 3 -> VHF AM set this radio to 131,00 MHz) But, here comes the frustrating part of this solution. I tried all 3 radios. Sometimes I got an answer and sometimes not, just accidentially, no logic behind. And, one has to wait for an answer sometimes almost a minute. (which is total immersion because it simulates busy (lazy) tower controllers perfectly). -

yes, test noise is there on the VHF AM Radio. Setting this radio to 131,00 at BATUMI and calling ATC (trying 1, 2 or 3 on the rotary) will not be answered, regardless of pushing the "Pilot’s radio trigger RADIO" button or calling the ATC via COM menu. -

Yes, you're right, now I got answer from tower. It's not the COM menu, it's the "CB pilot's radio trigger". But so far it only worked with VHF FM radio set to 40,40 MHz and rotary selector to 3. Thanks for your help. -

Yes, good point, I didn't set radio/intercom selector rotary knob correctly, but . . . . . . but even after setting this sel knob to 2 (or 1 or 3) I couldn't get any answer from Batumi tower when dialing 131.00 on the VHF COMM (sw to ON and VOL to max). -
I think that the Huey as any other airplane should have a tower clearance for start up and take off from an international airport. At BATUMI I tried different radios in the Huey to contact the tower for clearances – no single answer from ATC. I’m using the key for the COMM menu and tried the following Batumi radios: VHF AM COMM 131,00MHz VHF FM RADIO 40,400MHz UHF RADIO channel 16 = 260 MHz AM No answer from any of those. What am I missing?

When will 2.5.5. stable get the 2.5.6. update?
wernst replied to wernst's topic in Installation Problems
"SERIOUSLY". ?? Is it a time indication? Or a helpful comment? But which? -
I switched from 2.5.5. stable to 2.5.6. open beta only to see the improved cockpit night vision of the Hog. In short: It‘s great now, it has improved dramatically. Now option’s gamma setting offers much more margin/range to adjust brightness to one’s individual preferences and to the characteristics of the monitor. In addition to that the cockpit floodlight is now truly functional and gives even more options for adjusting the level of panel brightness.

Thanks, no problem. Meanwhile I switched from 2.5.5 stable to 2.5.6 open beta. I was afraid of doing that but i found it's shocking easy. In the BIN folder just type the cmd command "DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta". That's all. Meanwhile I'm enjoyig the truly improved cockpit nightvison of the Hog. -

Hi, any indication when the stable gets the 2.5.6 update? -
DCS 2.5.5.41371 stable here. When will this stable version get the 2.5.6. update? I'm curious to see the new city lighting.
-
YES, it truly is. Besides other features I especially love to perform ILS approaches in IFR conditions, foggy day (CAT III) and snowy night. There is no other DCS plane where ILS functionality is as perfectly implemented as in the Hog. Recently my only concern is, that ED wanted to make the best even better and made the cockpit night vision worse.

"all labels" "show control indicator" permanently to OFF
wernst replied to wernst's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
harrier subforum? I don't even have this module. Did you read my thread carefully before posting a "friendly pointer"? Meanwhile it turned out that both issues are equally related to wrong settings in general options "game". Thanks to other posts here it has been solved. However, I always and truly appreciate smart and precise teachings like ". . .probably have gone with general DCS help or something . . .". "...something"? That's how smart I've been before. -
"all labels" "show control indicator" permanently to OFF
wernst replied to wernst's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for your advice. And, do you have one more advice for me which subforum might be the right one for this topic? The "labels" issue which I have is not module related, as I have labels on all planes. The "control indicator" issue is with Huey only. So, which subforum I should have choosen? I'd like to learn from your good advice in order to be in the right subforum next time. Thank you. -

how can you surely find controls, e.g. knobs, pushbuttons and switches in this darkness ?
