I think the advanced radar is part of the ASM (advaced system modeling) feature...

The most anticipated feauture of 1.5? Hmm i would say the release date. :D
But i think the combined .exe of simulation and frontend is most welcome change for me.

Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages
People would behave differently just by removing the K/D ratio. No ego boosters, no ego crushers. No slugfest just for positive K/D. No tears...

Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages
1. Lets itroduce some lag protection to prevent loosing a lock.
2. Remove K/D ratio in multiplayer.
3. Done.
The biggest problem in multiplayer is the simple fact that people take it as a deathmatch and not a simulation of battlefield with one life only premise.

I hope it will be the A-7 ... it's my most beloved airplane of all time.
I suppose that if it will be timed for next year then it could catch up with the planned Carrier ops quite nicely as I hope ED will be able to push it for next Christmas.
-
Well maybe we can see improved performance on Black sea map with the same details settings. The new HW specs are mainly pointed at Nevada map which is quite a different beast on its own.
-
I wont buy another trainer so they can release it after or before L-39 same thing for me. I already have Hawk and C-101 enough.
And this relates to Mirage 2000 how exactly?
-
Because this has all been discussed before, and answered before (I believe you were the one questioning it before as well), pointing out the same thing every time you see a picture of a mountain gets old. What are you comparing this too anyways, I havent seen anything so far that can touch the size and detail level.
Its not about getting defensive, but you cant make judgements on a screenshot, wait till its on your machine, but understand ED is balancing for performance right now, they are looking for the best balance, so yes, most likely when you get it, when it comes to terrain clipmaps, it will be dialed in, as it is now.
I think this is the first time I have mentioned it. I do not remember speaking about it before.
The reason I have pointed it out is because each time a new screenshot is posted and something new and refined is shown, like the new color of the map, the mountains are standing out more and more.
I hope that when we will actualy be in the cockpits above the Nevada, the movement will hide this a bit. The screenshots are still and the odd things stand out a lot.
But I did miss this information in the first post, that's true.

There is nothing to be resolved. That is how it looks now, and is not an issue. See the FAQ for 1.5/2.0
So you are saying that the way it is now is the perfect state and it will never be addresed?
Why are you so defensive here? I'm not trying to build up any flame at all.

You have been told that there is going to have to be performance considerations, you cant load an entire map and expect to have high FPS, distance meshes and textures have to be reduced a reasonable amount. As well, you havent even got your hands on this yet, you need to hold judgement tilll you can fly in it yourself, ED knowns what they are doing, and they are trying to give us the best they can within the limits of our little computers... DCS is cranking out some of the biggest maps around in a flight sim, add in the depth of the simulation, number of units, etc.... and you have to balance it for performance.
But I'm not pasing any judgements here... I'm not doing any reviews. The map will be in alpha phase when released so I understand that it has some issues.
I'm just expressing my actual feelings about the LOD beeing used and I hope they can be resolved...
-
I agree, I love the map and am excited for it, but the blurry mountains have always caught my attention a bit, I figured they were just wip. Still, beats the pyramids we have currently I guess.
Well that's for sure. The mountains in Nevada have great shapes, but the LOD which is used seems to bee too much agressive at the moment.
-
Perhaps you would prefer really tiny maps so you dont need to worry about performance?
No I would prefer good loking large maps... I don't understand your attitude here. I surely hope that this is something that can be done in much nicer way than it is now.
-
The last Facebook message is claiming that all trees are now collidable. Does that also mean that AI will not shoot throught them? Was the performance hit resolved?
-
Agreed! Hope ED makes the color adjustment on NTTR as well.
It was done by ED... :) They confirmed it on their facebook now. Now all trees are also colidable, not only those in the city.
-
Great pictures indeed, I like it a lot.
Now the next step is to resolve the LOD on textures further away. The mountains still look too blurry. I hope that's something solvable. :)

Su-30 ... ha you can make the speculation quite fun to follow. :) I would love to see such plane fully modeled.
-
Harrier is halfway useless until we have working naval ops. So its no surprise that its not yet out... We will have to wait for the F-18 bundle to bring such things to DCS. That may easily take another two years.
-
Another developer is doing exactly that for a quite well known civil airliner :music_whistling:
In that respect, without simulating the FBW, the DCS Mirage module would be incomplete then and should not be an official "DCS: Mirage" module as the FBW system arguably plays a huge part of the simulation of flying.
That depends ... did ED/Belsimtek program the FBW for Su-27 the way they should have? Does anybody know? It's the only airplane in DCS that should have a working FBW already. Razbam could base their programing on that.
-
I ask myself what would fly by wire mean for a simulation, since our inputs are anyways digital. What would be the main differences?
It would mean that they would have to program a computer which would be analyzing the flight parametres and change the inputs to prevent hostile behaviour. Then analyze players inputs, compare them to the flight characteristics, modify the inputs a little bit... etc. etc. all this at least 50 times per second.
-
The Internet: Asking all the questions you are afraid to ask.
Well if the dragon would know whats coming then he could stop time with a spell and then teleport next to the aircraft. :)
-
Harrier has return?
The decisive point will be how many Mirages will they sell? I do not know how large is the FSX market which they occupy atm. but if Mirage will do good then we will see all the previously anounced titles and pretty fast too.
If I could guess then Mirage will do exceptionaly well due to its exlusivenes. It will be the first fully simulated recently modern fighter in DCS. But that of course counts with the fact that they will relese before Leatherneck and theirs yet unannounced "modern" jet too.
-
Well I think that Razbam was telling since start that they are waiting for DCS 2.0 because of the Naval ops. ED was telling us 3 years in a row that 2.0 will come out at end of the particular year. So whos fault it is in the end? Now DCS 2.0 is at last done at gues what, Razbam is releasing first module this year too. Coincidence?

I'm curious what the MP community will do with this new map. Will most servers run NTTR?
That depends on how stable it will be to fly over it with another 10 people at the same time.
The HW requirements are pretty drastic so who knows how it will perform...
Whats Next?

If Iam not mistaken the Harrier does not have Tacpack yet. The A-7 does which makes it the best bet for next DCS module.
