No idea about Rudels new avatar? Any thoughts?
It is a picture of the main character from The Wind Rises. Anime movie that follows the story of the creator of A6M Zero.
-
And it does raise the question of why isn't the F-14 among those backgrounds on their website?
Because LN F-14 is everywhere else? :P
-
Alright, rubbing my crystal ball again... F4U and A6M for 2015. F-14 for 2016. As for the theaters i see lots of water around a small island in the Pacific...
Nah, F-14 is 2015. Otherwise they wouldn't be teasing with it so much.

Any ideas on what the ground-radar module is? Probably a two seater? I would love an A6 or anything similar.
F-14D hopefully. :music_whistling:

Excellent newsletter, thank you very much. I am so impressed that the next two aircraft will be bundeled with matching theatres and you are committed to provide supporting AI aircraft, ships and ground units. This shows that you do not want your aircraft to exist in a vacum, which makes LNS truly stand out among the DCS developers (including ED). I am very exited to learn the details.
+1
This, so much this. Others need to learn from LN.

Great update! Glad to hear that you're focusing on projects that others seem to shy away from. I'm very surprised (positively) that you're willing to ship proper period maps and units with your plane modules! I'm not a fan of current DCS WW2 because of the 50$ price tag per plane and then an additional price for the map.
If you're indeed working on a Corsair, I'll be much more willing to buy your WW2 plane. :)
Keep up the great work!
Mandatory pitchforks and torches because you're leaving us high and dry until Monday. :P

They'll deliver. They still have time.
-
LN is based in GMT-12. They still have plenty of time. :)
-
I have a feeling that they are going to tease us again on which aircraft's are in dev and we'll have to scroll to the very bottom to see what it is.

Source?
ECM: probably not as DCS:W lacks the groundwork for that
But why no 65E? Just because it was not supposed to be used with the A-10C?
I don't know why they would allow it on F-18 and not on the A-10. Doesn't make sense to me.
-
What won't be modeled?
At the very least ECM and laser guided mavericks.
-
What do u mean hornet today? =P is there anything new about the hornet(s)
-
Hornet today. Tomcat tomorrow.
Fair deal.
-
Thank you ED. Much appreciated!
Thanks for letting us know about the Hornet!
-
But all modern fighters in DCS are currently from Flaming Cliffs. Re-making the A-10C has nothing to do with bringing an existing plane to DCS fidelity. Multiple third-parties and ED themselves have actually expressed interest in doing so.
We've been flying the same jets for 10 years. About time for something new, right? :)
-
A genuine question. If there were a crisis, would they send F-15's into combat painted like this, or would they repaint them beforehand?
-
The way this forum is going if LN don't have a Tomcat released in beta within the next two days they are all in trouble and may have to go into hiding.
No brakes on the hype train.
But seriously, after all that teasing that went on for almost 6 months... It's the only right thing to do. :music_whistling:

Screw the F-14! That will go on the same dusty shelf for me as the A-10 - will never be bought. Mig-23 for the next in mig series!
Have your Mig-23 or even Mig-28 if you want. I'll be glad to shoot you down in an inverted 4g dive with my Tomcat. Any day of the week. :pilotfly:
-
They're heading to the old mill!
I'd say they're just trying to put some time between the Mig-15 release and the announcement of the F-14, so neither one is stealing the others thunder.
F-14 will always steal the spotlight. Especially from something like Mig-15.

Dude, today is 25th Feb!
Only 3 days left, then we will say goodbye to Feb!
Well, someone is very impatient.
Can't blame you, after all that teasing, we all are. ;)
-
Yes the block 5 can use the Litening Pod.
Will you include it in the module?
-
unfortunately we dont know (yet) how the carrier implementation is going (coming),
not only the 3d model making but the carrier scripting, in-sim behaviour too
so i think it will be task/work of ED and not job of 3rd parties (maybe in 2016 with DCS:Hornet)
that was almost 3 years ago:
Yeah, I agree. It's on ED.
Leatherneck, just focus on the Tomcat. We'll love you even if you don't make a carrier.
-
Also after seeing just how much effort went into getting the Mig21 right, I have the utmost faith that these guys can give the F14 the module it desires. IF Cobra isn't just messing with our heads that is. ;)
I know a lot of the F14 potential does rest of ED providing us fully working multicrew environments, but I'm sure Leatherneck wouldn't even consider it IF they didn't already know the direction ED is heading.
It's a very exciting time to be a simmer that's for sure, although rather an expensive one. ;)

After all that teasing about F-14, I'd be quite shocking if Tomcat isn't the module that they're planning to release in 2015.
As far as the carrier is concerned, 4th gen DCS level fighter is so badly needed that I don't even care if it comes without the carrier at start...

Don't forget about EF-2000 of VEAO. They're trying to make it as fast as they can.
Nah, Ells228 said in the beginning of 2014 that they'll try to get it out before the end of 2014. After posting some pictures of the 3d model in January and February they became completely quiet and only started talking about it again in the recent days with nothing to show.
Until there are pictures and videos of VEAO Typhoon working in DCS, you shouldn't think/believe that they're working on it "as fast as they can". It's better for your sanity.
But Mirage 2000 on the other hand...

So we are talking about Corsair, Tomcat and Zero?
But since they're also making appropriate AI units for their modules, it is also possible that Zero will be an AI opponent for the Corsair. (since we've seen Corsair's cockpit and therefore can assume that it's a flyable)
