  1. Just by viewing server populations it is easy to determine that a vast majority of players are single player.

How can you tell how many people are playing SP by looking at the number of MP players? Just because someone who downloaded the game isn't playing MP doesn't mean that he must be in SP. In fact, it's much more likely that they're not playing at all for whatever reason or combination thereof.

As far as the topic: I play 100% objective-based PvP missions. I never finished a campaign or a tutorial (IIRC because they were broken) and since it's faster and easier to learn from other people, I can't remember the last time I loaded into SP.

  2. That ED would fix the multitudes of game breaking bugs that we've all learned to just accept and deal with for the last... well since I started playing this game over 3 years ago.

We all know what the bugs are.. squish them already. Let's have some meaningful improvements instead of the slew of new half-baked content.

Players have been asking for the same stuff for years. Why is it so hard?

  3. I should mention that my experience with it was all from months and months ago in 1.2. I haven't flown the A-10A for a very long time and I don't even have 1.2 installed anymore.

From what I remember, all you had to do was take off and land again and it would reproduce every time. Maybe it also made a difference to have no weapons and be out of gun ammo. Sorry I have no tracks or videos.

  4. This happens to me too. It'll even happen standing still with the park brakes on. It's funny to tip yourself back using the elevators :P

I assumed it was a bug. I can't see how your airplane randomly falling backwards onto the tail could be any type of 'feature'.

  5. Hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates. I figured the new (old) s77th leadership would take care of it.

The s77th is now 'maddog-simulatons' and the s77th domain will redirect there. The server has been returned to its owner, Devilman, who is also running maddog-simulations. That's all I can tell you because I'm no longer there.

A new squadron called the Fighting 99th has been created by ex 77th leadership and membership in order to continue what we were doing under the old name. If you miss the 77th then just come down to the F99th, it's exactly what the 77th was.

  6. We have 2 special slots open in "The Waymakers" element flying Su-27s. Contact Bandit at s77th.com for details on joining that element.

Also, the S77th wishes to revive its frogfoot team with some fresh faces. There are four slots open for "The Kermits" including flight lead. -more slots will become availible if anyone decides to start a new element.

Other openings include the "Drunken Bastards" driving the huey and "Shark Flight" flying the black shark.

All existing elaments come with custom paint schemes and seperate forum/TS channels. All current elements except the Kermits have pilots in them aleady so applicants will have to be accepted by the squadron as well as the particular flight lead of their element of interest. Otherwise, new elements can be created by those wishing to lead.

More info can by found in the links up top or by contacting me at s77th.com via PM. I don't frequency the ED forums much so leaving messages here is much slower.

  7. Hello DCS community. I'll be using this thread to post relevant updates about the S77th Squadron and our server.

A quick introduction: We're a casual group that values fun over realism, but we consider realism fun. That means that we use real-life tactics and communication methods up to the point where it adds nothing to the fun. Although we have many skilled pilots, we think that good teamwork is more important than lone wolf aces.

We play mainly publicly accessible TvT missions which are designed to be fun for every aircraft without splitting everyone into different areas of the map. In addition to that, we also have near-weekly friendly-competitive matches with other squadrons in which we bring our serious level up a couple notches and occasionally we have persistent campaigns which are also TvT.

Our squadron is split into flight elements which consist of up to four pilots. Each element specializes in an aircraft of it's choice and operates as a team of wingmen within the greater squadron. Elements are named and created by any member who wishes to lead one, and they fly using their own custom paint jobs. These elements increase the coherency of comms and develop a stronger tactical relationship between wingmen.

To learn more about our awesome squadron, feel free to visit any of the following:

    -Our website www.s77th.com

    -The "About Us" page

    -Our teamspeak channel TS.S77TH.COM:9274

-Our Dedicated server called S77TH DEDICATED SERVER

    Current Recruitment Status:

Recruiting internationally with special interest in pilots who fly the SU25T, KA-50, and UH-1H.

  8. Soon everyone will be using virtual reality headsets. Well implemented, they will offer better immersion.

HTC and Valve have announced the creation of a new VR device which will be in competition to the Occulus Rift.

The day I strap a monitor to my face is the day I check myself into the phyco nerd ward. I have no trouble being "immersed", even with crappy computers and peripherals. Fancy hardware does not equal immersion, and I'd go so far as to say that it actually has little effect on it. People get used to whatever they use.

  9. Hi guys,

Just help me to understand about DCS World. Ok let start form scratch. I got this LockOn Platinum. Of course in order to play, i installed first the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat, and then installed the Flaming Cliffs 2 and activated it. According to the manual i can then uninstalled the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat and continue play the Flaming Cliffs 2 as usual.

Now come this DCS World with all the available modules and one of it is Flaming Cliffs 3. Went through the website and it says that in order to run the Flaming Cliffs 3, i need to have previously the Flaming Cliffs 3 or the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat. Another version says that in addition to this you would also need to download the DCS World first free and then only you can download and install Flaming Cliffs 3 provided you already have the previous version of Flaming Cliff.

The question is can i download and install Flaming Cliffs 3 as long as i have the previous version of Flaming Cliffs without having the DCS World?

Please enlighten me in this matter...tq

    Install DCS: World (it's free)

    Install Flaming Cliffs 3

    The prerequisites no longer exist.

I own A-10C, Flaming Cliffs and Hawk.

Can I just ask, I have just bought a new SSD and am putting a clean install of DCS - re downloading it.

I will then put a clean A-10 and Hawk as they are relatively small files.

What I didnt want to do though is put a full 10GB Flaming Cliffs 3 on it when I only want the aircraft - does this make sense?

Is it possible to use the Flaming Cliffs 3 key and just activate it in DCS-World?

I might just buy the Eagle standalone if not.

    Thanks

Firstly, the Eagle is not standalone. All modules require the free DCS: World first, then the planes plug into that.

To divide you game up around multiple hard drives isn't something I'd recommend but you can do it with dirlinker. Google it and watch a youtube tutorial. Don't hold me responsible if you mess up your game though.

  10. I have the setups configured identically for both SU25T and A10 except for seperate left and right throttles in A10.

    Blackbird30.

I don't understand how you can possibly have identical setups for the Su-25 and the A-10C. Seems like either you're setting up the A-10A (although you said you're not), or you're setting up the A-10C and flying the A-10A.

Anyway, assuming that's not it, you say everything works except the joystick sensitivity? What if you don't bind the joystick in the software and just use the DCS controls to do joystick. If you're using software then maybe your stick is on the wrong mode dial setting? I know I'm mentioning obvious stuff but for me a lot of times its the obvious things.

  11. Although mad dog missiles seem to track pretty effectively, they're noticably less effective than guided ones to me. And neither of them are very difficult to avoid, especially the ones launched from 30-40 km away.

I'd tend to agree with what others have said: either there was another plane who was closer who launched on you (very possible especially with how you describe the bandit's actions) or you were trying to get on his six so bad that you successfully did most of the missile's work for it.

The view I choose to take here in DCS is that ultimately it's not real life. Whatever the situation and however this thing and that thing act, I accept it as part of the game without expecting it to be like or even comparing it to real life. Use the game's mechanics to your advantage regardless of how realistic they are. That mindset has helped me stay much more sane than the realism freaks around here, and more importantly I have more fun and kick more butt.

EDIT: The functionality of your RWR could also come into play here. The 27 has limited "RWR Visibility" on its belly; meaning the missile could've went active while you were turning away and showing your belly. You'd never know until you were back in a position for your antennas to pick up the signals again.

  12. I just went through this today with my new HOTAS too. I ended up skipping the HUD software for this. Instead I went in the DCS controls menu>axis commands>zoom and I bound it right there. It works great even though almost all the controls are in the HUD profile.

Note you can do that with any rotary except the left one of the throttle. DCS won't recognize it as an axis because it has no limit to its turning.
