One idea is to make a super super detailed texture (8192 res or more) and to set noise1PerSquare = 1; or noise1PerSquare = 2; in your High.lua (or medium/low which ever you use) this would help kill off texture tile repetition in a big way.
Thanks Mustang. How this setting works? noise1PerSquare. It is interesting to know that :smartass:

Sorry T.Jacob, you are probably going to feeling like shooting me. Your winter texture was so good I went and loaded up Spring Summer and Autumn to compare them and now that you've set the benchmark with winter lol I can see that to a lesser extent the same tiling/striping exists in the other seasons too. Again know you are busy (I really never expected to log on this morning and see you had fixed winter) so if you feel like looking at it and when you have time please think about doing whatever magic you did to winter to the others.
Best wishes,
Stonehouse
For other seasons the work is more difficult. Hide repetition is very difficult because the other seasons have differences in the same texture, I mean, light areas, dark areas, gravel areas and other areas with shrubs. The differences that can not be removed, make visible repetition of texture, especially if you use an extreme visibility. The different zones is very difficult to hide repetition is inevitable that you will always see the pattern. With winter texture I could manage to hide a little repetition because I created a homogeneous surface, with very few differences, or at least are smilares, or small details. But in the other seasons I can not do that. Doing so would be very monotonous visually. Although I have improved the fall season, because repetition is noticed more than the other two seasons (spring and summer). Later I will show it.
The solution you ask, would be make some textures with less detail so that it does not look much repetition. :(

I believe that creating an entire winter is the best choice to have a stronger visual feel and see that the ground is covered with snow. Although not correspond to a real Georgian winter but perhaps a bit like Russian winters. I think when I created that texture was inspired by the winter of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad.
Well ... I like

Do these Medium.lua file edits apply to just the grass mod or both grass AND terrain mod?
The modification of these lines in the file medium.lua is to improve the visibility of mod grass is not necessary for the terrain mod, but if you use both, if necessary. :)

Ready! The first post is now updated with new texture for winter. With respect to the texture for the grass, made new changes in my Medium.lua file, modifying the most important single lines, and also I am now using the 4k version, and I think now might have less loss for fps.
Only these two lines:
Line 48: Height = 400.0;
Line 132: smallNoiseStartDistance = 200.0;

Glad you liked it. I'll include the new texture in the discharge of the first post to be one package. :)
i want to use this mod. which files i should install? grass textures only and ground textures only at the same time?hi ebabil, if you want to use all the mod you must download the texture pack terrain and then you can also download the textures for the grass (for low flights or CA) you can choose the 8K or 4K version. Or if you prefer to only use texture recent winter can download it and install it as Lizzard said.
I'll reupload within minutes the first pack of terrain textures to include the new winter texture ...

Hi Stonehouse. I created a new texture from scratch for the winter. I think it no longer sees the mosaic, but I have noticed a line connecting the grounds, even with the original textures is noticeable but not so visible. The new texture is much cleaner, whiter and may be cracks, bulges, hard snow and soft snow. It is good for low flights but also works in high-flying, at least for me I think it is better than before.
Could you try and tell me if you think better? :)
Look at this picture of before and after...
And these, from highest ...

Here you can download the texture ...

Yeah I hear what you're saying about visibility but the pluses are too great to turn it down. For a start with it high I can actually spot air targets at a distance whereas if it is turned down I've no hope unless they are on top of me and particularly for WW2 flying early visual detection is really important. I'm definitely not insisting or demanding just asking if you can keep it in mind if you update the mod again. Some pics below. Note that it also happens near the central mountain range not just outside the detailed area of the map and also it happens at closer range although less noticeable. These shots are at noise1perSquare = 3 the default is 5 or 6 so it's is much worse then. Thanks for your reply in any event.
Cheers,
Stonehouse
Now I see the problem, I had not realized that, do not fly much in winter. But I'll fix it, do not worry. It really is very ugly as the stripes are. Now I'm with hard work and almost unnoticeable I can fly a little while, but now I have slope that mistake. I will improve the texture, I will try to create a new, if I find good texture maps.
I'm sorry for my mistake. :(

I haven't tried a winter mission until recently and don't know if it is just me or not but I've been noticing that noise_1.bmp.dds for winter creates a very noticeable tiling effect so it looks like a chess board in places. It appears to be due mainly to the dark borders of each tile. I've tried reducing noise1PerSquare to 3 which helps but doesn't get rid of the problem. I'm using the More visibility mod so particularly near the borders of the map it becomes very obtrusive. Also as you go past a few thousand feet.
Anyone else notice it? If it's not just me is there any chance the tile could be revisited and changed so it blends better please?
Other than that it's a truly fantastic piece of work and makes a huge difference.
Thanks,
Stonehouse
I think the problem is that you're using too much visibility, making mosaics are noticed, I do not use much visibility because I think it should not have, because of the atmosphere. Too much visibility can be noted repeating texture covering just one area. Try reduce visibility, or remove the texture of the snow for the original.
Could you upload a screenshot to know how do you see it? Thank you. :)

I tried to download your terrain mod on media fire but here is what I got: "File Blocked for Violation"
Could you provide another link for this mod please??
thanks :smilewink:
Hello bubbaxxx. Tell me you can not download link for upload to another server. ...All I loaded links work well for me. It may be a problem area, but I do not think.

Excelente trabajo, se aprecia como si fuera oficial!... Me tomé el atrevimiento de hacerle un retoque mínimo a la imágen y escalarla al tamaño de mi pantalla. Muchas Gracias por el trabajo.

Need Help!!!
Hi guys, I have a problem I could not solve. Long time use the mouse wheel to control the "Thrust" power but with some updates I no longer possible, I tried several ways to import commands from joystick to mouse commands but can not get it to work.
The strange thing is that if it works on the Su-25T but not the F-15C, Su-27 (PFM) A-10C, TF-51, P51-D.
The command that I use for the Su-25T in default.lua (mouse) is:
{combos = {{key = "MOUSE_Z", filter = {saturationX = 1.000000, saturationY = 1.000000, deadzone = 0.000000, invert = false, slider = false, curvature = {0}}}}, action = iCommandPlaneThrustCommonDelta, name = "Thrust"},And before the F-15C and Su-27 have PFM, using this command to control the Thrust:
{combos = {{key = "MOUSE_Z"}}, action = iCommandPlaneThrustCommonDelta, name = "Thrust"},Now with that command, the command of Thrust (the lever) moves just a little, as if he had lost his rank.
Someone experienced know how to fix that? the command seems to work because I see at least a little lever on both sides, moves back and forward, but only a little.
I've tried many forms of command but got no results. I was very comfortable using the mouse wheel to control the thrust, because I control the head (view) with the mouse. Just because I do not have a joystick to control the thrust.

Tried the 8k grass version and didnt like it...the effect is like a multi-coloured checker board close to the camera.Too much variation which doesnt look real because the pattern is too tight.
But the 4k grass version is just fine and better for your FPS too.
Thanks again T.Jacob
In that sense, it was published the first 4K version. But for those who prefer the real scale is the version of 8K. I'm glad you're comfortable with the 4k version. :smilewink:

I'm a noob following these modding geniuses with fascination and enjoying watching the DCS landscape evolve magnificently as I layer on these mods. I gotta say however that I'm getting overwhelmed keeping up.
I'm using JSGME and got all these contributors (T.Jacob..Mustang....Toby....HighwaymanEd.....Rocky) in my game which is exclusively DCS Huey.
I would like to make sure I'm using as many of these mods without redundancy or conflict.
I'm not lazy and am doing my homework but I would greatly appreciate
a comprehensive listing of these related works that that I can run together to optimize their effectiveness. My new rig with 55' 4k display should handle any fps hits.
Thank you all for your time, expertise, and generosity.
Hi Chic. I understand it is a bit overwhelming deciding which textures to use. Basically my textures, the Mustang and the Highwayman-ED are based on the same approach but with different variations. Bartheks, proposes a new fresh idea, but I think the most complete proposal is the version of Highwayman, with the textures of the villages. In fact my textures are based on that package. My new addition is the texture of the grass.
I recommend first using the package Higwayman with the textures of the villages, and then start testing with other options if you like. You have to look at what brings each package and decide you want to use.
Hope that helps.

Looking very nice, good job and thanks to everyone involved in making this. Can't wait to try this out when I get home later. Im confused about something though; what is the difference between the only terrain texture and the only grass texture? Should they be used together or separately?
You can use them together or separately, up to you. If you already use a mod terrain you can use only the texture of the grass. :)

First Post Updated !!!
• Available terrain textures. Winter texture corrected.
• Available textures for the grass. Two versions with some improvements.
• Review changes in lua file.

Desaturated version -60 (by Highwayman-Ed) [ 4k ]
I like this version. What do you think about that?
Keep in mind that depending on what texture used for the field. The big noise. It also depends on what area are watching, some areas of snow will be very gray if the texture is completely gray, but other areas with green spots look better. I will post the desaturated version -60. (4k and 8k).
