  1. Did that... Checked all .lua files (entry, etc. also in the saved games folder) to make sure it was all using exactly the same names. Did appear there was some inconsistent naming, but for 1.2.7 it didn't appear to make much difference (it does make it more stable though when uninstalling and reinstalling mods with JSGME). For 1.2.9 it díd make the controls page under options in-game show up properly, but it still didn't enable controls, nor after pasting the Su-33 controls over the input lua's to make sure all keys were defined. Last time I checked DCS even crashed while loading the simulator (same for the F-18). I'll keep trying to get the flyable mods working again in 1.2.9 but I'm a total noob at this so it may take some time... So thanks for the suggestion : )
  2. Heat blur didn't make any noticeable difference for me - just the smoke trail messing things up. I hope they got it fixed by the time I can handle multiplayer (NOOB!) : )
  3. Darn, I wanted to try those! Well, anyhow, I got most of it to run with v1.2.7 so I guess I'll stick with that for now. Thanks for letting me know!
  4. Same thing here. Have to use Alt+Tab to exit the simulator. Same problem with all f-4 mods I tried so far (gerritboom, rsvnpilot), same thing with the f-18 mods. Tried downgrading to version 1.2.7 - same problem. Edit: I did get the F-4E to run with DCS v1.2.7: I only had to re-bind an input key in-game for it to recognize the controls - but after that it worked just fine (goes also for the F-18, only tried DCS v1.2.7). It does however seem to be impossible (for now) to get the F-4E running with DCS 1.2.9 (in-game controls input page keeps showing up completely blank, no matter what I try). But, in general, yes, it's possible to fly the F-4 : D
  5. For me it did a lot of good when I reduced the particle effect in the 'exhaustTrailAir.lua' (see earlier post)... This didn't help for you?
  6. I'm fairly new to DCS and didn't really come around to installing much mods yet (except for terrain, HDR, stuff like that). But since I started a couple of days ago it'd seem a lot of mods, especially the added flyables, don't want to start working (been busy with F-4 mods and F-18 mostly, tried a Tornado mod to see if that would work). Now I did notice that DCS updated recently... I'm wondering, are others having the same problem or should I continue searching for solutions on my end?
  7. I'm working on a high res template for the F-16 skin, but I can't seem to find the canopy texture it uses. Does anyone know the name of the canopy texture and/or where it's located in the DCS folder? Thx!
  8. Took me a bit but I finally found some references on the forum after my brain finally cooked up the search query "exhaust trail". http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122410 As said in the thread: use notepad++ (it doesn't work otherwise) to open 'exhaustTrailAir.lua' (DCS World\Config\Effects\ParticleSystem2) and then change the particle level and distance to your preferences. Finally my fps is back in business : D Thanks all!
  9. @Uboats: when the engine is turned on it happens under all conditions. @Tvol: unfortunately I haven't found that option yet : ) I've been checking the Bazar\Effects folders to see if I can find a setting that I can perhaps tweak, but no luck yet!
  10. Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem and that there'll be a solution some time sooner or later. I'm still searching for ways to solve this problem untill then, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
  11. Thx! Is there any way to reduce the smoke trail and restore some fps?
  12. When I'm looking at my Su-33 from the rear or getting close to the rear (external view) I have a serious drop in FPS (3 at the worst, normally 4fps), even if the rest of the game is running perfectly smooth. Now I run the game with pretty much every graphics option maxed out at a 1600x900 resolution, but even if I put EVERYTHING down to the absolute minimum, I still end up with 4fps when I get to close to the rear of the plane. Heat blur on or off doesn't seem to make any change (worse or better) whatsoever. I've been checking the issue a bit with the other aircraft: MiG-29 FPS drops to 6 Su-27 FPS drops to 4 Su-33 FPS drops to 3 F-15C FPS drops to 4 Su-25T no noticeable FPS drop at all Has anyone else run into this issue, or figured out a way to solve it?
