  1. So ya, running in Windows compatibility mode definitely fixed my inability to start and get into game without crashing. Yay!

That being said, it seems as if the tracking is limited to the original DK1 30hz and not the 120hz (or whatever the DK2 runs) so the view is pretty jerky and unsustainable. I had to take the DK2 after a few minutes as I was getting a little sick.

    Has anybody else encountered that?

  2. And then there is the Elephant in the room, the cockpits.

Arguably the best part of DCS is that you can flight aircraft, in a beautiful simulator, that allows you FULL ACCESS to EVERY PART OF THE AIRCRAFT. Every switch, button, knob, gauge, everything. Take the A-10C for example. Who else has a 1,000+ page manual for a vehicle in a simulator? Who else takes the time to meticulously model every detail and integration for systems not only for the casual game play, but also integrate these systems to fail correctly in the event of damage?

Sorry but as awesome as 1.5 is and as a awesome as ED is, they need more study-sim level planes now. There are CRAPLOADS of payware add-ons for FSX/P3D that put the simulation aspect of DCS to complete shame.

DCS:FC3 is nice, but save for the KA-50, A-10C and Mig-21, every 3rd generation fighter is a dumbed down version of the real thing (Note: I don't count the training aircraft here as actual fighters). Systems aren't modeled at all, and FCS/Radar functionality is completely dumbed down.

It's nice seeing 3rd party devs working on products like the Mirage 2000C and the F-14, and ED on the F/A-18, but to say that DCS cockpits are 'the elephant in the room when you've got 3rd party devs for FSX that have been churning out fully 3D fully clickable cockpits with FULLY MODELED SYSTEMS for YEARS is disingenuous. DCS is still behind compared to other sims when it comes to systems modeling.

There are a lot of awesome things on the horizon and I know you're excited about 1.5 (and I say good job ED!) but lets not warp reality here...

  3. Well, clearly not enough you sent happy thoughts and I’m afraid the updater build failed (jk). So, we need to find the problem, fix it and try again. This may take more than just a few hours, so those of you staying up may want to get some shut eye.

In the meantime, we are working hard to get this in your hands as soon as possible.

You might want to move the JK part to the happy thoughts, because that reads as if 'the updater build failed (jk)'...

    Just sayin, lol.

I'm on the west coast, so I got like 8 more hours in me before I get some shuteye. Keep up the good work!

  4. I've been doing some research after discovering the profiler issues. I don't have any stability issues with the software, but DCS DOES have issues with several of the key assignments.

For example, I use rcntrl+; to control trim in the SU-27 and have that bound to the hat switch. Apparently the game or software doesn't recognize the right control part of that input and it does nothing. What's really strange is that I can go into the key binding screen and press the button and it's recognized, but ingame it doesn't do anything.

Also, the key repeat rates seem to be screwed up. I went into multiplayer and opened the chat screen and then the key I have bound to adjust the targeting crosshair, and it spams the key VERY intermittently or sometimes just not at all.

So ya, at this point the Profiler is completely screen with Windows 10.

On the bright side, it appears if there's nothing wrong with the joystick driver itself, so you can work around the issue by binding the controls directly inside of DCS itself.

  5. I've flown the KA-50 before and am familiar with how the trimmer works, however I recently reinstalled DCS and my Warthog to try and get back into the KA-50, and now I've run into a very strange problem with the stick trimmer.

No matter what I do, the trimmer only works on the Rudder axis. When I bring up the Axis view I can clearly see that the rudder axis gets trimmed but nothing else does. I've watched YouTube video after YouTube video to see if it's something that I'm doing wrong but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Did ED break something in a recent patch?
