25 seems to be a good dead zone number for my stick. There's more than a few posts on the Steam forums about the same AP problem. I hope they read this one! Thanks cofcorpse for all your help!
-
Yeah, my Logitech extreme3D PRO has a nasty big time spring and everytime Steam does a little update I have to re-calibrate it. I will set dead zone on all axis to 25 and try that, thanks. EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED! It was the joystick dead zone. Now AP works perfectly. cofcorpse THANKS AGAIN for solving this problem! For your info I have F15c standalone from Steam. I also have over 200 hours in my A10c standalone with no problems with anything.

Thanks for your patience and help with my newbie questions!

Ok, I see TWO "UPLOAD" buttons on the right but no "paper clip". I clicked both "UPLOAD" buttons but can't see the file in the "Preview Post" screen. I'm getting the error "Your file of 6.76 MB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 5.00 MB for this filetype." It was such a short flight to begin with (about 5 minutes). Why is the file so large? Can I edit it to make it smaller? Or maybe turn it into a zip file? I will try to rename to a zip file. EDIT: I just added ".zip" to the filename so it would upload. NO AUTOPILOT.trk.zip

Thanks, Ironhand for the info -- I will try to save and upload track file.
-
I would love to do that (if I knew how to). I need detailed instructions on how to save a track file and upload it Thanks, BC EDIT: I found a built in campaign for the f15 so by flying a mission from that eliminates any probs. with the Mission Editor that may have occurred with my custom mission I created. Now the caution panel lights are working. I can see two red lights that say "Auto Plt" and "ALTITUDE" but still the AP doesn't work - all I end up doing is crashing into the ground when trying to use it.
-
Using Logitech extreme3d pro joystick and razer ultimate keyboard. No autopilot and no lights on the caution panel but all AP switches are working ok. Weird problem.
-
My problem is different -- I have no autopilot at all. I tried a built in campaign mission but no joy and no autopilot yet.
-
Thanks, I'll try that.
-
No Steve, no mods used or installed but I used ME to create this mission I am flying. I couldn't find any training missions for the f15c so I had to make my own. EDIT: I have had problems with ME and bogus payloads on the A10c and maybe this is something similar.
-
I'm not getting ANY "auto plt" light at all. When I make a big move on the stick the ATT HOLD switch turns to off but does not turn back on.
-
I'm just expecting the AP to take control of the plane and it doesn't happen. Is it normal for the ATT HOLD switch to be able to turn "on" while sitting on the runway? (mine does and it seems weird).
-
Left ALT + 1 is also mapped but seems to have no effect except to move the switch.
-
I try to engage when flying slow and level @ about 300 knots and 5000ft. Repeatedly pressing the "A" key moves the switch but nothing else happens. My Steam install is OK. The only switch that pops back into the off position is Alt hold when I cycle the "A" key. I'm not sure how to check the CAS...but the three higher CAS switches are always on.
-
Thanks GGTharos but no joy. The switches work but no lights for either attitude hold or altitude hold. And, of course, no autopilot either.... EDIT: I'm gonna check for a buggy Steam install
-
I can't get the autopilot to work at all. The switches above the throttle quadrant all turn on and off ok but nothing happens. Yes, I am flying straight and level when I try. Is there an indicator that shows whether the AP is on or off other than the switches? EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED BY cofcorpse -- It was my joystick dead zone that caused all the trouble!

Award points? How? I know it can be done in campaigns but that's not what I'm looking for.
-
Yeah, I read that stuff also. That doesn't mean it works like it's supposed to. I would expect some bells and whistles when a mission is successful but *apparently* nothing happens to let the player know he "won" unless it's done through triggers or the Campaign screen.Have you ever gotten this thing to work on a single mission?
-
Hi All: Just curious on how to set a mission complete for use in a singleplayer mission. For instance, if a pilot completes certain tasks then the mission is complete. All I've been able to do so far is trigger a message "Mission Complete", which doesn't get the job done....I don't want the monkey to land without completing certain stuff. I'm under the impression that landing completes a mission but that's not what I want to do.
-
Thanks Kontiuka! - That's exactly what I was looking for.

I have a trigger action that plays two different sounds. The problem is that they both play at the same time. I tried placing a START WAIT USER RESPONSE between the sound actions but that doesn't work. Do I need to write a LUA function to cause a delay between sounds?? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

The video is MUCH clearer now. I can read and hear everything. I'm up and running now and very happy. Thanks, Ian

You're right. I didn't start the server component. I have no luck with the localhost:3000 - it refuses my connection. The video keeps getting interrupted by annoying ads and the sound from them runs in the background and I can't hear a word you are saying. What is "node.exe" and do I need to use it?

Thanks Ian! witchcraft.lua was indeed corrupted. I did a binary file compare on my original file and the one you linked me to and there were a lot of differences. Here's my log entry on witchcraft: 00049.964 INFO SCRIPTING: initializing witchcraft... and here are the errors: 00163.672 INFO SCRIPTING: Mist version 3.3.22 loaded. 00163.786 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected 00163.786 INFO SCRIPTING: reconnecting to localhost:3001 00163.872 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected I got a bunch of the "could not send witchcraft" errors and don't have the foggiest idea what's going on here....? I'm running w8.1/64 and will try the verify files thing from Steam. I haven't made any changes at all to my DCS install except create a few A-10c missions which I worked hard on and don't want to lose. EDIT> I did an uninstall and re-installed everything but the same errors occur: 00023.963 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected 00023.963 INFO SCRIPTING: reconnecting to localhost:3001 00024.066 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected 00024.066 INFO SCRIPTING: reconnecting to localhost:3001 00024.167 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected 00024.167 INFO SCRIPTING: reconnecting to localhost:3001 00024.270 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected 00024.270 INFO SCRIPTING: reconnecting to localhost:3001 00024.356 INFO SCRIPTING: could not send witchcraft: Socket is not connected I've got to be doing something wrong to get errors like these. I will replay your video tutorial @ 1080p so I can really see what it is that I'm doing wrong.

Why didn't I think of that? This nightmare is driving me to drink and maybe that's the reason. I'm a stubborn s.o.b. and am bound and determined to get this thing working. Ever try to place objects on mountain terrain? Jeez...doing that without a 3d viewer is no fun.
