  1. Hi Divot, I still have playable settings although I experience stutters every now and then in multiplayer. The screenshot attachment contains the current settings I'm running. I hope this helps, if it doesn't then private message me, we can further compare settings there :) Also, I'm running Mustang's 1.5.2 Visibility Settings: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2685487&postcount=36 Along with his No Tree-Shadows Fix: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2495081&postcount=7
  2. No worries! That's good news, I hope to see it implemented in the near future.
  3. My previous driver was 361.43, so about 2 months outdated by now.
  4. This fixed it! I'm back to 60 FPS. Thanks Mustang :) I must add though for anyone experiencing issues with the Visibility Range values in 1.5.3, I was able to go from 30 FPS to around 40-45 FPS by upgrading to NVIDIA Driver 361.91. I suggest upgrading display drivers to the most recent one first, and then only using 1.5.2 Visibility Range settings if you still experience stutters. Your performance increase due to drivers might vary, so IMO it's a trade-off between eye-candy (using 1.5.3 settings) and smoother frame-rates (1.5.2 settings).
  5. Sorry for the confusion, you are absolutely right anyone can use NVG's in the cockpit. But as far as I know the way ED has set-up the links for the model files to the shader files, that link has to be present in the cockpit model of the aircraft. These links are present in the A-10A and Su-25 so you can mod the input.lua files and get the NVG's working for those aircraft.
  6. I know that it is possible to mod NVG's for the Su-25 and A-10A, but due to these commands not being linked to anything in the cockpit models of the FC3 fighter aircraft we still don't have night vision capability in them. Does anyone know if this is done on purpose (some potential balance reasons) or if ED just hasn't gotten around to it? It would be awesome to finally have NVG's in the Eagle. :pilotfly: In the mean-time here is some After Effects editing to imitate the look of NVG's: [ame] [/ame]
  7. Setting visible range to low I still get ~33 FPS, so it has negligible impact on frame-rate for me. I'd understand if they were re-adjusted to make functional improvements to the game such as being able to see runway lights from far away. But as it stands now, I see absolutely no reason for the huge frame drop. The city lights are brighter than the runway lights...lol
  8. I can also confirm that my FPS has halved with the new 1.5.3 update. However, this is not due to the new light reflections. I was able to turn them off in Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua by changing ["lights"] = 2, to ["lights"] = 0. Even with the lighting system turned off I am getting around 30 FPS compared to the 60FPS I was getting before.
  9. Thanks for letting me know! My piloting needs some work that's for sure, even with an advantage I was struggling. You're right, the F-15 should seek to end the fight in BVR; though most of the time I find myself in WVR engagements, on a multiplayer server, with a stray bogey, all while in some unknown valley in Georgia. With some luck that said valley could be in the NTTR map so I'm trying to prepare for that situation. :D
  10. The release of the M2000C had me worried, and rightfully so. In the beginning I lost most of my fights against the AI flying the M2000-5. I was then trying to keep between 350-400 knots but the M2000-5 was simply out-turning me both in turn-rate and radius. So here are my observations and what I've learned. Please feel free to dispute any of it, and chip in your knowledge. "The release of RAZBAM’s M2000C, a delta-winged interceptor, presents a new adversary for F-15 which makes it even more lethal for an Eagle Driver to be low and slow. This dogfight is against the M2000-5 which is a modernized variant of the M2000. The aim is to simulate a typical Multiplayer WVR engagement, where both pilots are below 10,000 ft. At this altitude the M2000 can out-turn the F-15 in a horizontal turn-fight. As a result, the F15 must maneuver predominantly in the vertical plane to make use of its higher lift capability and maintain a higher airspeed. The higher airspeed allows the F15 to present a higher Line-of-Sight rate target against the M2000, which forces him to expend more energy in order to get his nose to bear. This coupled with the M2000’s inferior climb and sustained turn rate performance allows the F15 to slowly eat away at the M2000’s energy. Patience is key as it is important to watch out for a decrease in the M2000’s Line-of-Sight rate before bringing the nose to bear. This is an indicator of how hard the bandit is turning w.r.t the pilot’s reference frame at a fixed angle off tail. Therefore, if the F15 pilot is maintaining lag pursuit, a decrease in Line-of-Sight rate signals that the M2000 has bled sufficient energy to where the F15 has the higher turn performance. Attempting to bring the nose to bear without waiting for this moment will result in the F15 exchanging far too much energy for angles, and due to the mismatch in speed/turn radius, will likely cause an overshoot in flight-path." Here is footage of a successful fight against the M2000-5 using this doctrine: [ame] [/ame]
  11. There is an issue with the F-15C whereby the model visibility setting has an impact on whether or not the cockpit model (including pilot) is rendered in the mirrors. Specifically this problem occurs when model visibility is set to "Medium" or "Low". This has been tested with other FC3 aircraft (Su-27, Su-33, A-10A) and they DO NOT exhibit the same problem.
  12. Just finished a 2-hour defensive BFM lesson (F-15), which started off easy with a bit of formation flying and went onwards to getting a feel for when an offensive aircraft is in a guns position and within your turn bubble. We later discussed energy management, extensions, turn geometry/plane of motion and applied these through a set of defensive exercises. I now have a much better understanding of when to sustain a turn, jink, or when to actually shit my pants. Overall, I had a fun time and learned a lot from Scat who has a great deal of professionalism but also good sense of humor. If you guys haven’t taken him up on his offer I recommend it and rate my experience as a 400kts TURN TURN TURN/10.
  13. Thanks for the reply, I'm glad I hadn't missed something :)
  14. Ultimately I'd like to mod the instruments to glow with the same shade of green as the HUD and Displays on the F15C. However, upon analysis of the alpha channels for the cockpit textures, I noticed that indicators that light up with various colors are merely "cut-outs" with a certain alpha opacity. Does anyone know which files control the color of the "backlight" for the cockpits in DCS? Or am I simply not looking hard enough in the texture files?
