Hi, just an update, maybe it can be useful to others. After several unsuccessful tests, I find a post here in the forum (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=119849), where it is suggested to turn off the Force Feedback in DSC World Options. And actually the method works (I don't know which can be the relationship between the two things). Now the trim in the SU-25 works as expected, both with keyboard and the D_Pad on the joystick.
-
Sure. But it is simpler to test the correct behaviour before takeoff, a bit like a normal preflight check. And I found that in my case the trim seems not working, do you have any suggestion?

Hi all. I have a problem with the trim of the SU-25. In these days I was trying to set the controls for a simple Speedlink Phantom Hawk joystick, and I noticed that the trim of the plane is not working. Situation: to make a simple test I created a mission starting from a ramp cold start. I turn on the APU (RShift+L), then the two engines, and then I try to move the trim for elevator and ailerons. Looking from the F2 external view, I don't see any movement of the control surfaces. The strange thing is that I also tried to delete the joystick assignments and putting back the default keyboard controls for trim, but the effect is the same. I also tried a repair of DCS World, with no luck. To make a simple comparison, I tried the same operation in FSX, and also with the joystick the trim works as expected, so it doesn't seem a problem related to the peripheral. Do you have any suggestion? Am I missing something about the control setup?

Do all modern sims get updated constantly like the F-15c?
Dilbflo1 replied to fitness88's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Concerning civil simulators, as already said FSX is quite old and no more developed, also if still there is a rich third-party activity for addons. Instead X-Plane is actively maintained. The version 10 is quite often updated with important features (for example recently they improved the Garmin GPS simulation). -
On screen indication of Time Acceleration
Dilbflo1 replied to Dilbflo1's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Hi Shahdoh, thanks. It works as you said. Nothing in cockpit view, but in external views is reported at the bottom right. At first I did not notice it, because it is very small and reported as Ax.xx (e.g. A2.0). -
Hi all. Maybe I am missing something, but I noticed that, during a track replay, there are no indications on screen about the eventual Time Acceleration (LCtrl+Z) or Deceleration (LAlt+Z). In other sims, as ROF for example, the program shows a little text with the acceleration factor (e.g. X2), and I find it quite useful. Is there anything similar in DCS?

Hi. It is well explained in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123740 Regards.

What is the round object on top of the cockpit?
Dilbflo1 replied to Dilbflo1's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
Thanks guys, this makes sense. I wasn't able to find any reference, now thanks to your indications I noticed some interesting threads, in particular this one about the gun camera on the MIG-21 model: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130503 Anyway, if I understood correctly, the gun cameras both in the SU-25 and in the Mig-21 are not functional in DCS, but at least now I know what is the misterious object not described in the manual. Thanks. -
Hi all. Maybe the question can seem simple to the expert here, but I did not find answers neither in the manual nor online. What is the big round object present on top of the SU-25 cockpit? Thanks.

Yes, I read your other thread. If this is the case, I think that ED should update their training videos and manuals, because otherwise people, in particular new users, can be confused by the different procedures described and those actually necessary. Thanks for your attention and help.

I think the same. Being new to Flaming Cliffs, I still don't exactly know which features are automated and which are manual, so at first, being able to start the engines, the lights and so on, I was assuming that the electrical power was already on. And the lack of mentions in the F-15 manual checklists added to that idea. Luckily we also have the forums for very useful help  Thanks.

Thanks Kontiuka. Following your suggestions and making other tests, I finally understood the nature of the problem. Both the Mig-29 and the F-15 require, as first operation, to turn on the APU/electrical system, with RShift+L. In this way all the subsequent operations you descrive actually work, and now I am able to receive the answers from the tower for taxi and takeoff. I suspect that the manual of the F-15 found in the Doc folder is not still updated with the new features of the plane, so the step of turning on the electrical power is still not present in the checklist. Thanks for the help, I hope thsi can be useful also to others.

Hi Kontiuka. Thanks for the info and the test. Anyway, there is something strange in my case. Following your advice, I used the Advanced mode in Fast Mission to eliminate almost all the traffic for Red and Blue teams. And now actually my airbase is a very lonely place. I followed the Check list found in the F-15C manual at page 139: - Turn on the nav lights - Close canopy - Turn on engines At that point I called the communication menu (in my Italian keyboard is "ù") and asked for taxi. Then I waited more than 5 minutes, but never received the answer. Am I making some mistakes in the basic checklist? Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification Imp, for a new user is quite difficult at the beginning to understand the differences between all the DCS modules, and the FC3 manual is not very clear about the use of radio communications. Now, if I understood correctly, in FC3 the frequency is adjusted automatically by the program. At present, starting from ramp in some fast missions, I am able to activate the communication menu, and request taxi from ramp, but I never receive answer. I tried with the Mig-29 and the F-15, same problem. Thanks for the help.

Hi Ricktoberfest. Thanks for the answer. Do you have some reference (pages on the manual, tutorials..) explaining in detail the necessary procedures? I'm willing to learn but up to now I did not find the relative material. Thanks.

Hi all. I am new here. I have experience mainly with civil simulators (FSX, XP-10), and I am starting with FC3. I am reading the manual, and in the meantime experiment with some of the program features. I have problems with the ATC. Trying with "Create fast mission", I am able to turn on the plane (I tried with the F-15 and the Mig-29), and to contact the tower (Kubaisi) to ask for take off. The problem is that after my request I never receive any answer from the ATC. I also tried to use the "Easy communications" option, but with the same result. The manual doesn't seem very clear about the issue, so I would like to ask here. Is it a limitation/bug or am I missing something basic? Thanks.
