Can confirm I have the same issue.
Just use RS for now, it also works just fine.

Hi all.
I love flying the Mig-21, but something that has bothered me since the day I bought it is the damage model. It seems kinda strange.
Often when getting hit by ground fire, I can't see any visual damage, the control surfaces still move fine and don't hang, jet the jet pulls to one side all the time quite badly.
Another thing, if you get hit and a couple of bulletholes show on the wing, it sometimes flies like it is missing half a wing, have to keep the stick janked to one side, pull up very carefully and the jet flies like garbage, and I fail to land the jet.
The thing that bothers me the most is no visual damage done, yet it flies like a part of the wing came off.
Is this an intentional thing and completely normal, or is it a problem with the visual damage model?

Rockets are working perfect like this, but I have to release bombs quite far before the target to make them hit.
Rockets I have to aim them a bit before the target as well.
Not sure if the balistics computer is just garbage or something is broken.
-
Yes I do. :D
Could you please tell me?
-
I just updated to openbeta 1.5.4, on openbeta the rocket piper does show up!
They're indeed very accurate, but does anybody know how to just shoot 1 or 2 rockets at a time, and not half a rocket pod?
I'm gonna keep trying to bomb stuff, but for now I can't hit anything with then :s
Bombs just fly waaaay past the target.

Hi domini99,
Please keep in mind that unguided bombs are not to be used for precise bombing like CAS.
These bombs are usually dropped on buildings and ground instalations.
It is normal though to have difficulties to hit a very precise point on the ground with these dumb bombs. I drop 2 or 4 Mk-82 at a time just to be sure I hit something.
Razbam still have to implement CCRP auto-release, which will increase the precision of your drops.
In the French Air Force, M-2000C usually drops GBU-12, GBU-16 or GBU-24 with a M-2000D buddylasing.
Cheers
Buddylasing is a fun thing, but are the bombs so inaccurate that they literally always miss their target by tens of metres? Can't even hit warehouse with those things.
The rockets piper is pretty low in the HUD, but it comes into the view in a dive. Raising the seat also helps. :DOkay will try in a steeper dive, right now I can't get it to show up at all.
-
No, the bombs will fly over the targets no matter what.
They always miss
Pipper over target, release, and they miss.
It doesn't matter what I do.
I tried mach 1 level at 300 feet, I tried all kinds of different speeds in all kinds of different dive angles, when I release the bomb when the pipper is over the target the bomb misses and flies past the target by like 10 metres or so.
I am getting quite frustrated by this.
Are snakeeyes just this worthless bombs, or am I doing something incredibly wrong?
-
Make sure to keep your wings level... To do this I always drop two bombs at a time to make sure to keep the aircraft balanced.
I normally like to drop CCRP (Mk-82). Starting at Angels 15 I roll in lock the target and then about 6-7 thousand begin a slight pull out, around 10 degrees off my initial dive, and wait for the release queue (you must keep the wings level from this point to release). As soon as Bombs are off I aggressively pull out of the dive. Depending on the speed at release you may have to practice ... I normally place the lock slightly in front of the target because I have a tendency to hit long with this method.
Okay thanks, I haven't tried CCRP that much yet and will try.
This might be caused by inaccurate altitude data.Make sure radalt is ON and RA is selected on PCA.
TAS is even more accurate (uses radar) but I don't know if it's working atm.
Also try level flight delivery (go fast)
I use TAS all the time, but whenever I release a snakeeye the bomb just flies over the target, even though I am in a stable 20/25 degrees nosedive, ~400 knots and wings level.
For snakeeyes I prefer Mach 1 at 300ft. :DNot the best example, but it got the job done. :)
Hahaha lol.
It worked though.
Another thing I found, is that I can't get the rocket pipper to appear when following Chuck's Guide, it just doesn't show up.
-
Hi all, I'm trying some CCIP bombing with snakeeyes and mk20's, but I can't get them to hit.
I fly around 400 knots, in a 20/25 degrees dive like the manual states, pipper over target and release, but the bomb goes way far of the target.
It doesn't even get close.
Does anybody have some tips for me?

Idea to swap blu and red territory? Just to try in one round...
Who agree?
I support as well.
I'd like to play from BLUE's side one time without having to switch to BLUEFOR
Mi-8, Su-25A, MiG-21, MiG-15 - RED sideHuey, A-10A, F-5, Sabre - BLUE side
SAM restricted to vietnam-ish era...
:noexpression:
I like the Sabre VS Mig idea, the only issue being that I don't have the Mig-15, so I won't be able to fight on the REDFOR if the Mig-21 gets removed.
-
Thank you!
This fixed my problem, I'm in the air again.
Thanks :D

Hi all.
I don't know exactly where to put this, but I'll try putting it here.
A couple days ago I changed the clockspeed of my CPU.
Apperantly this counts as major hardware change and the Mig-21 got deactivated.
All other modules kept working fine.
Now when I try to reactivate it, it says it is unable to access or modify the system registry and I'm unable to activate the Mig-21 now.
I tried reinstalling it, deactivating it but it just won't work.
This is the error it shows me:
Does anybody have any tips as to how I solve this problem? I'd like to fly my Mig again :)

Been flying as areal refueling truck in my Mi-8 this evening, great fun
I love the new helicopter features, they're amazingly fun to play!
-
Both would be sweet. C-17 is probably too new with some systems classified though, and the 130 would have to be an earlier version. C-141 would be nice too, but i would really get excited for some bombers; Bear, B-52, B-1, B-47, etc.
C-141!
That thing is a beast!
Would love to have one of these :D

Guys, we need more people in redfor.
We're now getting into the "blue team simulator" effect again, 15 blue vs 1 or 2 red.
We can cap something and go offline in the late evening, only to find that 3/4 of all our airfields and farps have been captured by the blue, and a crapton of F15's preventing us from capping anything back.
S.O.S. redfor

Please keep the clouds....less blue supply the red side needs to be concerned with.
Haha #redfor
Balance seems OK right now, I really like the lives implementation. The cargo loading is convenient and would probably be more popular to all. As for the stress testing, I know you were all confident about a scripting change, however around the three hour mark it starts to go bad with the warping, i really dont think it's part of the build of this mission, its been utterly consistent for the last several months, betweeen all the script versions and game patches and manifests in the same way all the time, based on locks and launches, its the netcode in my opinion. Scripts are solid imo, right now.Yeah, I hope ED is working on some crazy ass hypernetcode that can handle all of this with ease
Maybe with a better netcode and better stability that server restart timer can be changed to like 6 hours or so. Wish there was some magical thing that made it so that the server would never have to restart.

@domini99
There are usually 2 Strela launchers, so you might have gotten missiles from 2 different vehicles.
The reload time is set by DCS, we have no control over that.
One was dead already
And...
Damn, that's a bit sad.
Hope it gets sorted out eventually
-
The reload time of chapperals on FARPS is way to quick.
I successfully drained him of all his 4 missiles, but I could barely turn around and he was firing at me again.
Friend tried the second run, again all four missiles launched, he turned and tried to attack only to see even more missiles being fired.
This is not fun.
-
If I am not wrong I think you misunderstood the function.
Choppers won't lose lives in the campaign from now on in order to be more active.
This is cause their role is very important now and the available slots are not many due to limitations. They have to refuel/repair the airbases, capture targets, provide CSAR, transport JTACs, build SAM groups.
For all other aircraft the limit of lives is 4 from now on and it resets every 6 hours.
Greg
This system sounds fine
I'll make sure to get my Mi-8 out again!

See, frankly I find that racist against helo pilots. How dare you suggest that a helo pilot's life in only worth 1/4 of a fighter pilot's life, and this is coming from a life-long fighter jock. This bigoted attitude has honestly triggered me so much, I propose we start a "chopper lives matter" action group to combat the blatant prejudice here, it's disgraceful. It's 2016, it's high time we in the fighter community recognised our fighter pilot privilege and work together as allies to stamp out this disgusting and inhuman discrimination.
#CHOPPERLIVESMATTER Let's get this trending people!
That escalated quickly

I hope online mission designers design the mission for the jet a bit, right now lots of missions are built for A-10C, and other aircraft are just tossed in.
And for some reason, according to most mission makers a "rebel camp" somehow has 7 SA-3's, 21 shilka's and over 200 manpads.
-
True, it just doesn't work that way.
When any CAS flight is within X miles, the timer should not start running.
Above I've seen someone say that a real A-10 pilot wouldn't just allow trucks to come in and out to rebuild the airfield. A real A-10 pilot could destroy those trucks, but in DCS those trucks are not a thing.
Nothing happens, nothing moves, the vehicles simply just respawn.
Pop
New Shilka that wasn't there a second ago.
And no idiot would start rebuilding the airfield when the attackers are still flying over your head
Just try to make it so that the timer doesn't start running before all enemy traffic is gone. I agree with the manpads idea, transport vehicles with manpads that try to shoo away the attackers sounds realistic.
If this all isn't possible, just increase the timer.
It's ridiculous.
AI pilot flying - or just lucky?

Looks like VRS.
It definitely recognized your collective input, as the rotor pitch gauge was moving.
It looks like you didn't do sufficient action to recover.
Push the nose down and gain forward momentum to recover from VRS, you can't always recover while hovering.
