  1. Tropico Mi-24P

Now that we have a perfectly fitting tropical setting and one of the most beautiful attack helicopters, it's time for a Tropican Mi-24P skin. At the moment I am releasing it as a green camo version that is different from my previous Mi-24V skin, but blends quite well with the Marianas map; in the near future might also add another variant with a different camo scheme.

Please report any issues you have with the current skin, feedbacks are welcome too.

  2. How did you do to have a custom livery show up? I made one but it is not showing neither in the modelviewer nor ingame.  (I placed the custom folder with the descriptrion.lua and .dds textures inside the CoreMods/Mi24P/livery folder).

EDIT: SOLVED, you have to place the custom folder in savegames/openbeta/liveries, not in the main game folder.

  3. Thanks, I got it now, I wasn't really aware about the Kidd class. More variation is always welcomed ;) Thank you again for your job. For textures, there are several talented painter around producing amazing skins for lanes, might be worth asking in the skinning forum. I would have proposed to help myself but I'm away from my main PC with all the necessary tools until Christmas. A proper layering with one layer dedicated to wear and tear effects can usually help.

  4. No, i didn't hear that but now i do and that will be the name. Thanks NavyBtown!!

So, I have been hearing a lot of chatter about a Spruance so I have one and i will be working it as well. Due to the type of missile launcher. It shouldn't take long to complete. Maybe i can do two versions. I want to get the San Antonio done first though.

Isn't this the missile arrangement of the old Ticondeoga CGs? Spruance never had Mk26 twin-arm missile launchers (USS Ticonderoga pic for reference: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3c/USS_Ticonderoga_%28CG-47%29_underway_off_Puerto_Rico_on_9_April_1983_%286379851%29.jpg )

In any case, your job providing surface ships around is very very appreciated, thank you very much!

  5. This is nice. You should add the Stars to the RoughMet textures for a better look.

    Open RoughMet texture...

Simply go into the Blue channel, and add the stars as a black color.

Then, go to the green channel and add the stars as a mid to light-grey color similar to the antenna areas.

Thank you very much! RoughMet textures were something rather exotic for me :) Now I updated this and all my other metal liveries following your advice.

  6. Spanish Republican Air Force MiG-21bis

The first release includes two fictional FARE repaints of the MiG-21Bis. The hypothetical skins are based on the one created by "ce_zeta" in 2017, which mixed pre-war roundels and red wartime marks for a fictional post-war livery.

    • Third squadron ('Seis Doble') of the 21st Group of Escuadra nº 11 de Caza. The livery is based on I-16 "Mosca" CM-249 of Jose Maria Bravo. In this case CM stands for "Fighter-Mig" (caza-MiG), while the white tactical numbers indicate a squadron leader.

    • Fourth squadron ('Popeye') of the 21st Group of Escuadra nº 11 de Caza. This is an all metal livery, where the registration marking CM stands for "Fighter-Mig" (caza-MiG), while the black tactical numbers indicate a squadron member.

  7. In this thread I will post some fictional "what if" skins in the colors of the Spanish Republican Air Force, Fuerzas Aéreas de la República Española (FARE), mostly for REDFOR aircrafts.

Feel free to post your thoughts and relevant content.

In general, I will try to keep in line with historical codes, markings and squadrons.

In the Republican Air Force, the first letter of the type code designated the role of the particular aircraft, the second letter identified the particular model. The second letter was usually derived from the aircraft manufacturers' name or the aircraft nickname (i.e. the I-16 had CM markings for 'Mosca')

Code letter stem / Original Type / Adaptation

    A (Asalto) Ground-attack =

    B (Bombardero) Bombers =

    C (Caza) Fighters =

    E (Escuela) Trainers & Light aircraft =

    F (Captured aircraft) N/A

H (Hidroavione) Sea-planes Sea-planes, Amphibious aircraft and Maritime Patrol

    L (bombardero Ligero) Light-bombers & Liaison aircraft =

    R (Reconocimiento) Reconnaissance planes =

    S (Sanitario) Ambulance planes =

    T (Transporte) Transport planes =

    X Amphibious aircraft Helicopters

  8. In the meantime I created a simple Hungarian People's Army Air Force metal skin using the new template.

It is based on MiG 21 displayed at the Szolnok Aviation Museum and the 'silver' skin made by Jack in 2017. The only major inconsistency should be the Russian stencils instead of Hungarian ones (and possibly the exact shade of grey). "Jack" really did a great job replacing all of them for his skins.

  9. Well, there's the reason that Ugra only make terrains, not only for DCS but also for other sims, but still only terrains. They would probably need a different set of programmers for a different job.

    S!

If I remember correctly, Ugra made some assets for IL-2 (was it the P.o.2 biplane?), So they should have the skills in their team. Still, I won't bet much on an official AI pack included with the map.

  10. Here is a semi-historically accurate camo skin for Cuban Revolutionary Air Force Mig-19. Originally, all Cuban Mig-19 in service had the common polished metal skin; however, after the Cuban Missile Crisis, given that the bare metal skin was too visible for recon planes, the fighters were camouflaged. All were ultimately retired after less than 5 years of service in 1966 (while the first operational unit was in late 1961).

  11. Tropico Su-33

Since Tropico 6 actually has a Kuznetsov carrier and a kind of Su-33 in game, I decided to create a skin for that plane too. I tried to make it similar to the one present in Tropico 6, with some elements from the Russian Naval Aviation Su-33.

So, without further ado, here we have a Tropican Su-33 straight from Tropico 6 (sorta)

  12. Hello all, I made a set of three Italian Air Force skins for the AI C-130, plus one adapted for the KC130 too. Other authors might post/advertise their C-130 skins in this thread if they so desire, to keep all more or less in one place.

    ITALIAN AIR FORCE C-130

    DOWNLOAD HERE

The skins represent three different periods of the C-130s used by the Italian Air Force 46th Air Brigade, based in Pisa.

    - 1 white and metal skin used by the first airplanes delivered to the unit in 1973

    - 1 camo skin used between the '80s and '90s

    - 1 low visibility livery currently used by the Italian Air Force for C-130J

    - 1 low visibility skin for the KC130

Some minor details might need some more work, but I'm still releasing them in the meantime (it's an AI aircraft after all).
