  1. Thanks. It might take a few restarts until I get it just right :(
  2. Since getting DCS I have been playing with either a set of wireless headphones (with their own volume control) or 5.1 speakers (with their own volume control). After plugging in a pair of earbuds I've realised I cannot change the volume in-game. I move the sliders all the way up and down and there is no change in volume. What's that about?
  3. I've just started the training missions and working through the start-up mission. Is there a script available to cover what the instructor is asking? It would make practicing much easier rather than trying to keep up with him. Am I also right to assume that the mission documentation is mission summary page and map for each of the 12? Daft question: how do I access them?
  4. Not sure if this is an established problem or if it is specific to my system: When I first load the sim it gets to 12% then sits there. Sometimes this might be for 10 seconds, and other times it will stay there for 5 minutes and only seems to continue of I enter task manager and try to end task. At this point it says it's not responding, but then loads as normal. DCS is installed on a SSD so I would expect it to load consistently quickly. It's a steam install, so updates itself. Any ideas?

  5. Just finished the Maverick training. Easiest so far except when I change to IR Mavericks (?D variant). The right MFD is virtually black so selecting a target can only be managed by use of HUD. The brightness control makes no difference. What do I need to do?
  6. One last question for this thread: When I changed back to the GBU12s I could get it back into CCIP mode but it looked like the one used for unguided munitions even though the weapon profile was set for CCIP in the DSMS. I had no problem destroying the target in CCRP mode but I would like to know how to change back. Thanks again.
  7. YES, done it. I had been waiting til the cue was after the first caret. All four targets taken out. I'm a happy man. Now for the mavericks :)
  8. So, if I pickle at the point where the cue is in the graphic shown will the bombs release? Home soon. So I'll give it another go.
  9. I have been pickling when the release cue is between 7 and 12 o'clock in your graphic. Should I be doing so before it gets to the 7 o'clock position?
  10. Got the vertical line. RDY on both the HUD and DSMS and still the buggers will not release. When the countdown timer starts, the HUD says manual release, which I guess is correct. The L letter shows on the HUD, which I take it to mean the laser is on. I don't have to touch the NWS button? I've tried setting another SPI elsewhere and repeating the process and still no joy. I take it the release button is the same as for other bombs? (Joy2) I've got the steam version of DCS, so I guess it's fully up-to-date. I'm assuming it's not a bug.
  11. Now, this is getting really annoying :( GBUs are selected in DSMS and coloured green. I slave sensors to the waypoint and slew the TGP to the target and press TMS up to select point mode, fly directly towards the target and press weapon release (and hold) when the countdown on the clock face is between the two carets and nothing happens. Arghhh..... I'm going to lose the war at this rate.
  12. I thought that's what I had done. I selected GBU 38 from DSMS, slewed to target and market it as point, then flew over it. It worked fine with the bombs in the earlier part of the lesson, but with the GBU 38s it was the mode with the carets on the clockface counting down. I'll go back and try it once more :(
  13. Cheers Guys. It would have taken me weeks to find that in the manual.
  14. Can someone tell me how to change the colour of my HUD? Cheers,
  15. I'm working my way through the training missions for precision bombing and I can't get my GBU 38s to release. I have the target set up in point mode on the MFD, fly toward it and the countdown counter moves between the two carets. When I press release nothing happens. What am I missing? Also, is there a way of scrolling back through the training instructions to pick up anything I might have missed? Cheers
  16. Spotted him a few days ago. I'll go back and review againn. Agree with the accent. Is there anyone who doesn't like the Irish accent.
  17. I've completed the navigation tutorial a few times and I understand all but one part: How do I establish the course to the next steerpoint. I thought it must be somewhere in the CDU but I cannot find it. I must be missing something in the tutorial, but I can't find it. Thanks again
  18. Cheers Guys. Sorted now :)
  19. Bang on. Now it flies like it should. Thanks :)
  20. Done that, and what a good idea. However, if I try to raise or drop the nose by using a trim control the plane drops either it's left or right wing and becomes much harder to control. I guess I must be doing something wrong?
  21. Gotcha. I did think it was one click and I was sorted :music_whistling:
  22. I've been trying to trim my aircraft without much luck. I assume I set it up for level flight with the joystick and press trim. Nothing happens. I've read the FAQ and it says turn off force feedback. Does this mean I have to do without force feedback if I want to trim :(
  23. I'm trying to complete the Nav training mission. Dutifully followed the waypoints as described and come the the part where it ask you to move the HUD cursor down then use TMS forward (LCTRL+up) to set another point. Here nothing happens. It worked fine in another training mission when asked to mark a point within a box on the HUD. Have I missed something, or is this a bug? I have tried this several times to no avail :(
  24. I think the only issue is the complexity of the title. It will take me a good while before I'm even competent enough to start the training. From the tinkering I've had thus far, it's like the training that came with the sim but much more detailed and with some printed information. Definitely worth the outlay even though it was £3.40 not £2.40 as I mentioned
  25. All remapped and the resolution issue was to do with the warmth of the colours. It's running beautifully now. Thanks for your help.
