  1. Mirage Rudder Keyboard Control Do you know if this was ever resolved? Do Mirage control surfaces which are being controlled by keyboard now return to centre? Would love to buy this module but for reasons of a physical impairment flight sticks are not really an option for me.
  2. And there you've answered your own question. Not too hard, was it? There's a reason why every flight sim ever has provided keyboard bindings. As for "reasonable", it would be a complete waste of my time to try to explain the legal considerations that relate to industry practice and how that gives rise to reasonable expectations, so I'll simply put it to you that you're wrong.
  3. Which is my point in bringing it up. Some users may be able to dismiss the fact I have to use a keyboard and say I just have to accept it. But I'm in the same boat as people who don't own pedals, and there are plenty of keybindings that people will want to make even outside of pitch-roll etc. My point is that it is not unexpected that keybindings (of any type) would be necessary. The way some people respond you'd think I'd turned up with a 15 year old computer running Windows 2000 and demanding to know why it didn't work.
  4. Only a few people need rudder and throttle?
  5. They say they are not bound and refuse; I asked. I pointed out that consumer law overrides a term in their licence agreement which claims not to allow refunds, they have not responded. What do you mean "it is nowhere written"? It doesn't sound like you're familiar with English common law. The UK Consumer Rights Act sections around "satisfactory quality" and "fitness for purpose" are judged on what the "reasonable person" would expect. A previous industry standard or business practice is highly likely to give rise to such an expectation In any case, ED has said they're not bound by any of it, European or UK law in spite of the countries into which they are selling the products
  6. Every flight simulator ever released has had keyboard control as the basic form of control, a flight stick is an *add-on*. They're legally required to provide a product that is consistent with what a reasonable person would expect in terms of functionality. Keyboard bindings falls into that category. That's not quite how UK consumer law works, but let's go with that; if I can ask for a refund in a defined period, then why are they denying it? I only purchased it about 3 hours ago
  7. I looked before I posted, as I understand they have bound some particular functions to keys but throttle and flight controls can only work with a stick. Spending two days trying to get Mirage 2000C to work will drive me up the wall, I'll go fly some Mig-21 missions and some CAS using the Su-25A. That always cheers me up
  8. I'm sorry to say you're confused about that. If money changes hands and a consumer transaction has occurred, then the consumer has all the ordinary rights. I am, and I work on consumer law issues. Once money has changed hands for a product, all the old s11-s14 SGA entitlements are read into the contract. I was well aware it was beta, with all that implies. Lack of keybinding is a major functionality issue that properly falls into the category of alpha. I can't even take off because the throttle doesn't work. I expected it wouldn't be finished. What I didn't expect was that I literally cannot use the plane in any way, shape or form due to its inability to take off, rudder, flight controls etc
  9. If this was just an ordinary update that would indeed be the "best answer", but given keybindings issue is a major defect, I do think they owe their users a more precise explanation. They are not modding for free for a few friends, they have released a commercial product that people have paid for. Where people pay for a product then consumer law entitles you in pretty much all of Western Europe, Australia, Canada etc for that product to actually work. No keybindings working is not a minor defect and as such I don't think it can be considered an ordinary open beta issue. Basic control functionality is more an alpha issue, beta is supposed to iron out the remaining issues and determine issues relating to particular systems For people like me who can't use flight sticks for reasons relating to a physical injury (my wrist is f***, basically) then this makes it unusable (and for other people who do use flightsticks who have no throttle or rudder control) I hope you're right. Very frustrating is that for some people £35 is no big deal, I'm a trainee lawyer and I earn very little after tax, mortgage in London etc. I had to work over the holiday period on a case, and I took today and tomorrow off to fly Mirage 2000C. To then find that ED's attitude on the support ticket is "Not our problem" is exceptionally frustrating. Anyway, enough from me on that for now. I really hope you're right about the timeframe for the update
  10. Fair enough, sounds logical; I hope you're right
  11. I suppose my disappointment is compounded by the fact I (1) Injured my right hand quite badly in a car accident a few years ago, I find flight sticks incredibly uncomfortable to use and so keyboard is the only way I can use ED (2) I'm a trainee solicitor so I don't earn a huge amount of money. I also had to work over Christmas, I took today and tomorrow off to play Mirage 2000C and was really looking forward to it (3) ED's response is that they don't have to comply with UK consumer law (which provides exactly the same consumer rights for digital products as for physical ones) when I queried the possibility of a refund. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 essentially inserts into every contract clauses that the goods must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose; if they are unsatisfactory in a particular way that must be specifically brought to the consumer's attention prior to purchase. The act also provides a right to a refund and any contractual terms that are inconsistent with the act (such as ED's clause claiming they offer no refunds) are struck out. As I said before, inability to use the keyboard is a pretty fundamental issue, it's really an alpha issue not a beta issue. Even for people who are physically capable of using flight sticks, I understand there are still problems with throttle and rudder. Anyway, I'll wait to see what they say in the support ticket
  12. That doesn't really tell us anything about when the fix is going to be released, though? Has RazBam sent the build to ED, are we waiting on ED to release it? When will that occur? I don't mean to press the issue but I've paid for the module but can't use it.
  13. From my reading of what's been said on the forum, it seemed that the fixes have been "added" and are being tested, I'm not sure that necessarily means the files have gone over to ED
  14. Is that "Friday based on a little inside information" or "I'm hoping it's Friday"?
  15. A couple of days? In the northern hemisphere most offices would have been back on the 4th Jan. An ETA is a reasonable request given this isn't just a few minor bugs but things like keybinding that renders the product unusable to many users. Beta stage is supposed to cover minor issues, or issues related to specific hardware, not major functionality that prevents a significant class of users from using the product.
